  • All dropdowns flash and disappear, the main firefox window gets drawn over them.

It is an error very embarrassing with the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7, which is also updated are all my drivers. The problem is that whenever a drop-down dialog box or a menu is open, the main Firefox window (containing the web page open) gets redesigned it, so all you see is the shadow under the menu. You see the results yourself here, where I took a screenshot of me trying to open the bookmarks menu. (The tabs look strange because I use the Tree Style Tab add-on): http://flic.kr/p/b7n8TR

I noticed earlier that I can resize is no longer my firefox window horizontally, the border seems to have disappeared. I tried using google and various other sites to find a solution to this and I get to court. I tried several things, safe mode, by pressing F11, clear cookies, cache, even reinstall. The problem still exists and I don't know what caused it. He has also plagued various flash applications, they are no longer the scale to the size of the window and pieces are cut. Any ideas?

It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high and bars scrolling down.

Open the system menu via Alt + space and see if you can resize the window.

If it works, then close Firefox to save the setting.

  • Firefox window blocks everything else on the computer screen

for some reason, the FF window now blocks EVERYTHING else on my computer screen. for example, if I open a PDF file, it opens BEHIND the screen of FireFox. normally the PDF file would be open, and in the new window on my screen, hide at least a portion of the FireFox window. no more. If the FireFox window is open, it blocks everything on my screen. even when I click on these glazed elements, FireFox remains visible and above them. It is a serious problem, because it basically means that I have to close my browser when doing anything with other applications on my computer screen. which, of course, is not realistic and will force me to start using another browser.

reinstall your browser. but still why is this a problem, you can open them in the toolbar at the bottom of the scree with a single click.

No, for some time nothing worked. If FF was open, the thing any blocked FF window on the computer screen. you could click on something else and he would still be blocked by the FF window.

but I went to the control panel and set the window again and properties file to "default" and everything back to normal.

  • Pages served to Internet Explorer is loaded into a Firefox window instead.

I just started to have "Secure connection failed" on trying to connect to a financial site that has always worked before, so I decided to see if the same problem exists by using Internet Explorer. I finished Firefox, then started to IE, which came up OK with my blank home page. But when I entered the URL for the login page of the Web site, instead of coming in the window of IE, a Firefox window starts automatically, and the page you requested is here instead. So, basically, I'm unable to use IE for anything whatsoever.

  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables some settings and disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you are using an additional theme, place you in default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Mode without failure of Firefox in the Help menu by clicking on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

    Thank you.
