Firewall exception for Captivate 9 new

Whenever I run 9 Captivate my system wants a firewall exception for captivatenews. The only way this stops is by disabling the firewall, but the firewall must be on for me to work remotely. FYI, I'm not a sys admin, my organization is an it company. So far could not solve. I see 8 Captivate has had this bug. Is there a solution so that I don't have to wait to cancel the alert? VA - I still features if I simply rescind the notice of Exception? Thank you. Diana

Hi Diana,

Please go to your installed folder and search the file AdobeCaptivate.ini.

Cope and stick this on your desktop. Edit this file and set UseEdgeInspect = 0 instead of 1, save it and paste it into the location of Captivate installed.

Kind regards

Zitouni

    Hi Adobe community.

    First 14 elements doesn't seem to be coping very well being located behind a firewall and have access to the internet (for online content) through a proxy (configured by proxy.pac... can't change that). Anyone would be able to provide the URLs/DNS names/IP addresses of the IP ports and Protocol (TCP/UDP) that I have to allow through the firewall for first Elements have access to online content?

    Thank you and congratulations in advance

    Hi ATR & one who reads this.

    I come to the solution by using Wireshark to analyze what happens when Premiere Elements wants to download content such as 'titles and text. As mentioned previously, seems many internet traffic resumes with success the proxy settings correct and is therefore through the proxy server.

    Managed to get the Premiere Elements to download content online by allowing the following FQDN on the Cisco corporate firewall (not for the first relevant destinations are blocked on our proxy):

    HTTP static.photoshop.com

  • What firewall exceptions is I have to set to enable automatic updates?

    We use Firefox on an administrative workstation that does not have general access to the Internet. What firewall exceptions is I have to define (IP addresses, ports), so that Firefox can automatically download updates?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thomas

    The update URL is generated via the app.update.url pref you can check on the topic: config page.

    If you want to see the exact URL and then install Live Http Headers extension and open its window.
    If you open "> about" then this will trigger an update check to retrieve an update.xml file and you should see the full URL in the HLH capture window.

  • Why programs not marked in the list of windows firewall exceptions are still able to maintain the internet connection?

    Original title: exceptions to firewall

    Can someone explain how I have after uncheck the programs in the list of windows firewall exceptions, they are still able to maintain an internet connection? I use XP sp3.

    1. what makes you think that this unnamed programs are still able to maintain an Internet connection?

    2 Windows Firewall blocks unsolicited incoming connections.  Thus, for example, if you (or malicious software), set up a FTP server running on your computer, Windows Firewall will block an application from the Internet on your computer that are trying to establish a connection and download some of your files.

    However, when your web browser sends a request to a Web site server to load a page, incoming web server traffic is allowed because it's in response to a request made on your computer.

    This distinction between the incoming and outgoing traffic is why some people insist that the third-party firewall, which usually block/monitor of traffic in both directions is required.  The scenario is that you inadvertently introduce malware on your computer (in any number of ways), and then the malware "phones home" to establish a link with the bad guys, who continue to do what they want on your computer.

  • I can't see changes in a folder unless I go up a level and then re-enter folder, for example, create new folder, rename the folder, rotate the image etc. Can someone please?

    I do not see changes within a folder, except if I go up a level and then again enter the folder, for example, create new folder, rename the folder, rotate the image, etc..

    By pressing the "F5" key would probably be to refresh the folder.

    All the exceptions that are predefined on the Vista firewall exceptions tab are missing.  There are no entries, no list of checkboxes.  By clicking on "Restore defaults" does nothing.  How to bring back these entries?

    Specifically, I seeks to turn on "Network discovery", "sharing of files and printers", "Administrative shares", etc.  I am running Vista Home Premium (32 bit) SP2.

    Thank you, Bernard

    Hi Bernard,.

    Thanks for asking your concern in Microsoft Community!

    I see from the description of your post, that you are facing problems with the firewall settings.

    You are able to view the same in safe mode?

    Worry and follow these steps.

    Step 1:

    Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.

    Some options, including the mode safe mode, start Windows in a limited State, where only the essential is started. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers and services as a possible cause.

    Follow this link provided below to start your computer in safe mode.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:

    If it works fine in safe mode, and then put the computer to boot and see if the problem still occurs.

    To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 3 of the KB article provided above.

  • Go to slide revisited for Captivate 5

    I found two forums on the topic, but I can't code proposed to work for me. Re: jumping into a new project [for heading 4] offers a solution that was revisited in Re: Got code works in Captivate 5. The solution offered for Captivate 5 has:

    if ( window.location.href.indexOf('?slide=') != -1 ) {
      var slideNumber = window.location.href.substring(window.location.href.indexOf('?slide=' )+7);
      var cp = document.getElementById('Captivate');
      cp.cpEISetValue('cpCmndGotoSlide',slideNumber-1);
      cp.cpEISetValue('rdcmndResume',1);
    }

    I couldn't get it work. I even tried a simplified version:

      var slideNumber = 4;
      var cp = document.getElementById('Captivate');
      cp.cpEISetValue('cpCmndGotoSlide',slideNumber-1);
      cp.cpEISetValue('rdcmndResume',1);

    He did nothing (and Yes, I was running the .htm and .swf from a server, not only using the preview). Finally, according to http://captivatedev.com/series/captivate-javascript-series/, I tried

    var slideNumber = 4;
    var objCP = document.Captivate;
    objCP.cpEISetValue('rdCmndGotoFrame',slideNumber);
    objCP.cpEISetValue('rdcmndResume',1);

    This code caused the player access to a slide internal (probably slide 4), but the reader doesn't display a dimmed page and did not play.

    I'm at one end of my rope. Here's what I'm actually trying to do:

    I have a few short tutorials, already created, they work fine. I want to create a new tutorial that provides a context and then launches the tutorials previously created on an arbitrary slide. A nice to have would be for the small tutorial understanding that it was launched by another video swf (rather than by a direct link) and then exit to the tutorial of aggregation.

    Any ideas how to get every function/feature to work?

    Take a look at this tutorial and see if it helps:

  • I have a license for Captivate 5 but Im afraid to use it!

    I have developed several courses in CP 4. Because of hardware changes, I have to constantly go back to them to edit and upload to our LMS. My company has 10 licenses reserved CP 5 but if I start 5 use how do I change the courses created by CP 4.

    How can I go about it?

    I have to cancel the registration of the 4 and 5 to use to create new courses of load

    So when I have to update a previous course I write off 5 and load 4 new

    When done remove 4 and reinstall 5

    Infinite and nausea...

    Surely if I bought a license for Captivate 5 I certainly intend use it, then why Adobe covers me in a position that is impossible not to be able to change my route 4 to 5 CP CP?

    Can I have other options or should I have just forgotten about using CP 5?

    Hello

    First, Captivate 4 and 5 of Captivate can coexist on the same computer. for example, you can have a copy of Captivate 4 and saved copy (or a copy of the trial) of Captivate 5 parellelly running on the same computer.

    Then, Captivate offers this compatibility with content created in Captivate 4 upwards. In other words, project created in Captivate 4 can be opened and edited in Captivate 5. Vice Versa is not true, i.e. the content created in Captivate 5 can be changed in Captivate 4.

    That being said I would like to draw your attention to this blog:

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/Captivate/2010/08/patch-for-Adobe-Captivate-5-to-resolve-upgrade-re this - issues.html

    Captivate 5 has many new and improved workflow features. I encourage you to try out them.

  • How can I transfer files from my old pc sony Vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003

    How can I transfer files from my old sony pc running vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003 Windows 8

    Welcome to the HP, Roodie forum.

    There is an easy way to do it using Microsoft Windows Easy Transfer :

    Transfer files and settings from another PC

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    If you do not want to transfer files using the easy transfer method, you can manually make the copy.

    1. You can connect the systems on the same network,
    2. Define the folders that contain your data transfer to 'Share' on the network
    3. Map the drive on your new Vista computer system network
    4. Copy the data you want to transfer

    On the Vista Machine:

    • Open a Windows Explorer window,
    • Right click on the folder that contains the data you want to 'share' (transfer)
    • Click Properties > share > share and follow the instructions to allow the folder to be shared on the network

    On the Machine Windows 8:

    • Windows key (opens the start screen) > anywhere type 'computer' >
    • Click on "computer" to open the "Computer" File Explorer window >
    • Click map network drive and follow the instructions to map the drive

    Don't forget: If your account name is different on the Vista computer, you will need to click on "Sign in using different credentials" and then enter the name of the account on the Vista computer AND the password for this account.

    You can do this with the upper or lower level folders folder level - as long as the folder is shared, you should have general access to the data it contains.

    There are cases where you will not end up being "owner" of the data transferred - you will have to perhaps enter and adjust the property for files / folders after they are copied to the computer of Windows 8.
