Fireworks for print design?

I decided to use Fireworks to design a postcard for print but am not sure how it will print. I designed at 300 dpi, but when I print some fonts seems a bit pixelated. Could someone advise me on how best to prepare the file to a print shop? Should I export it to TIFF? Here are the settings I should know as "vectorize" text in Illustrator to export?

Thanks for the tips!

I love Fireworks also, but as you realize, it's really not good
for the print job. I'd forget Photoshop as well because, although
It is misused for the design work, which isn't really his forte
Although it will load fine printing. Photoshop, as its name suggests
should be used for editing photographic images, doesn't create page layouts.

As it is a thing to one page, I'd probably use Illustrator but if you
need more pages, use InDesign.

> 1. The background color fade

Not a problem in Illustrator or InDesign. In both applications, start
by drawing a regular rectangle and make it the size you need. In
InDesign, then go to the effect controls panel and apply feathering degraded
effect to your rectangle. The settings should be made explicit. In
Illustrator, make an exact copy of your rectangle and apply a white to
black gradient him (white remain opaque, black will be)
transparent). Then select your original rectangle and one with
the gradient and go in the transparency Panel. From there, click on the small
in the top right and select "make opacity mask". It is in fact
closer to the way you would in Fireworks but, visually, it's the same thing
effect that the effect in InDesign.

Why do you flatten it? In one of 3 applications, just take 2
letters and convert them to paths (vectorize HAVE and ID) then
join them as a form of a vector. Apply a simple opacity to the shape. NO.
you will need to flatten as a bitmap.

> 3. create a shadow on the box that I use as a sheet music cover.

Illustrator and InDesign have drop shadow effects that are
probably a lot more sophisticated than fireworks. Simple thing to do in
two applications.

> InDesign or Illustrator would be a better bet for me do you

Either would do the job well. InDesign gives you better control over
more text as well as multiple pages. Illustrator would be handle your
project with ease as well. Stay away from Photoshop as your return to
dealing with resolution bitmap dependent and which is also far from ideal.

  • Help and suggestions for the color scheme for the design of flavor package multiple

I need help to choose colors for a range of products food multiple flavor.

My goal in this post is about how to create or acquire the palette that I need in order to design, model, collateral marketing etc.

This project requires a color scheme which has sufficient contrast and variation to represent up to 24 flavors of food packed by type or range of products. Each flavor of product or the combination of flavor (the name of the element, as the cocoa almond cherry or apricot vanilla etc.) in the line will be represented by a unique color. The product packaging is white on solid color. The environment will be brilliant laser printing on labels.

The problem is that many flavors will use similar colors. Chocolate items will have different shades of Brown and Maple flavors or nut will also use brown tones. The same Orange, Apricot and mango will use similar shades of orange etc. I know that the problem could be solved with two or more colors, but I don't have this option for this project. All packaging is white on single color. He has not used the accent colors.

I need to generate the palette before you design the package to create models for printing and photography for print marketing and marketing etc. Active documents on the internet.

Does anyone have a good strategy for this or know all the resources available?

    I use :

    Dell Precision T1700 (64-bit)

Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1)

Two screens (not calibrated for Pantone or printer)

    Printer: Konica Minolta bizhub c224e

Book + Pantone Color Bridge Coated and lying

Adobe CC, HAVE, PS, ID, etc.

I print on labels of brilliance for models and you want to use images for the web.

I'd also be interested to know how to calibrate these devices.

    Thank you!

Out of the computer for a day and come out at your local grocery store and see what the competition is doing.  In addition, the product itself may be your best resource for a color.  Who and its taste.  Food is a product that will generate a color once you have tasted.  I know, maybe it's not practical.  You could start with 6 primary and develop the 4 colors of catΘgories of void.  You could also watch the manufacturers of ink different color in addition to Pantone for some unique options.  Laser printers are struggling with spot colors, but they can be calibrated.  Look at the manufacturer's recommendations for hardware devices like xRite colorspectrometers.  Nice project.  I hope this helps.

    Hello world

I've been a designer web for several years, but just now getting into print design. I'm working on a few wedding invitations and I get the printed order by uprinting.com. I got proof of return, but their comments said that I need to convert my text to describe if I submit an .ai file, or I need to save it in PDF format to embed fonts for their use.

I don't know what option is 'better', but now that I know how to convert text to outlines, could someone help plz understand how to export to PDF so that my fonts are preserved?

I've got Illustrator CS6 by the way, thanks!

Save a copy... Save as PDF. The default settings include embedding the fonts in the PDF file. Only fonts that turned a little to allow the incorporation will incorporate. Most do so.

To make sure that your fonts are embedded, open the PDF in Acrobat. File > properties > Fonts tab.

Pixels are pixels. Nobody care about how they were created, especially just for web use when nothing else needs to be considered. Use what you're comfortable with and spend your time on learning design rather another graphics program. If I can be frank: this 'logo' isn't bad...

No indication in this regard would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

I wonder if an application like vector Works or similar would be appropriate for building and displaying a prototype showcase?  In response to your question, you would be better of the scaling up to a manageable size in 'Illustrator '.  All your photographic images can be prepared in Photoshop and then placed in Illustrator for output.  The key here is to set the size of the print output device and proportionately reduce the overall project on this device.  Another thing to consider is how intend to present ideas that propose you.  Each panel separately or all together as a composite?  Looks like a great project.  Good luck as you move forward.  I see absolutely no reason to use InDesign, unless you are familiar with this application you are with Illustrator.

  • InDesign CS4: need help seting for printing or printing full bleed.

    Hello

I do not know how to address this concern or if it will make sence. I am currently working on a portfolio advertising student and I need to print it with bleed, all is placed on one 8.5 x 11 pages and many items such as images and just design layout contains images to the edge of the page for better design effect.

I test printed from Indesign, converted into a PDF file and printed test and I still get white residents, and some work gets stretched or cut off by residents.

Can some help please, I did some reserch and they say that the printer is maybe not able to print the bleed, but I don't want to go to a Kinkos or staples that could have printers that can and ask them to say it is not the type of file, its open don't not or the settings need to be adjusted and they cannot do so away and os suite.

All I wan't is to print my 6 pages of color and bleed without white boarders and thresholds. I know Staples can poen PDF files, how should be my setup page and or printing?

really hope that makes any sense.

Unless you use a photo printer with abilities from edge to edge, the print you full page is to add an indemnity from bleeding to the file, expand art past the edge of the moulding of the page, printing on a larger sheet of paper and gut off the coast of the extra.

If you go back into the document format and "show more options" If the background settings lost are not visible. Add to the moins.125 inch or 3mm all around like the purge, which will put a red line refernce outside of the page for you. On the page of the document go beyond everything that touches the edge on the red line.

Export to PDF and in the marks and bleeds section check the box 'use background settings lost document' and also check for crop marks. You must increase the offset value for cultures at least the same value as compensation to purge so that they fall completely outside the substantive area lost.

  • Scaling of content for printing - panic...

    Hi all

I tried to adjust my eBook for printing. as a self-taught user and total novice to requirements and printing procedures, I made a fatal mistake to put a lot of my content ouside purple inner margin of the pages. That is to say. they all use the page...

Here is a screenshot of a corner of one of the pages:

    margins etc.png

as you can see, the page numbers and the text in the corner is the correction of the page...

I learn by the printing company I'll be necessary across all the content to fit inside the purple borders, or otherwise add 3 mm bottom lost all my documents. I don't know how do either!

They said that the recommended size would be 216 mm x 154 mm, but I'm completely lost here and in a panic, my deadline is close.

any help anyone can give is appreciated... !!!

    Thanks in advance

    best,

    Owen

Purple margin guides are only guides and it has absolutely nothing sacred about them, nor is there any condition that the content remains inside of them. To content it for your convenience and to control the size of the automatically generated text blocks and many, if not most, documents that they would be well beyond 3 mm from the edge to allow do not blend in with the link and give readers sapce som to contain the page.

What is important here, that's what you want and wait get in this corner. Your printer tells you that they do not guarantee exactly shaving the edge of the theoretical page (a common warning). Most digital printing devices are not as accurate as a press to get the perfect regisitration page to page, so when a pile is cut some content will be closer and some further from any given edge as you move through the stack. The even pages printed on a press can have a few variations, and if the cutter operator is sloppy or accumulated debris, cutting can be where it is supposed to be. There is also the problem of the unprintable areas on the edges of a sheet which is used to move the paper along or to prevent ink to penetrate beyond the edge and scrub of the device.

In this case it doesn't seem that the problem is an unprintable, but rather cut exactly on the corner. This means that the possibility exists that part of your corner text or number of page maybe be sliced offshore, or the cup can derive from the other side and let more space than you wanted.

The page number is pretty easy. Move away from the edge that we practice. The text of the corner is not so easy because it looks like you really want this right in the corner. Bleed will not solve this. Bleeding is when go beyond you the edge of the moulding of the page of the 'work' (which means just any area receiving ink). 3 mm is a pretty standard amount. The purge is intended to prevent a white line showing along the edge after trimming when the ink should extend to the edge. Something beyond the point where the paper is cut is ignored.

So a bleed of 3 mm will allow for up to 3mm of alignment in the canoe, but if the page is shifted 3 mm in one direction, the opposite edge is also shifted 3mm in the same direction, this amount is prepared outside the edge of designed a page only one side is adorned by far inside the opposite edge. In order to be sure that you don't lose anything important that you must have all the content you care about back of the edge as much as compensation to bleed, and more, it's probably a good idea. Similarly, if you expect a white border, there must be broad enough to withstand the misalignment.

In the case of your text from corner, large cup of any part of it would be bad, so the only real solution is to modify the design, so none of this is closeer at 3 mm from the edge (and contain page numbers at least 3 mm from the edge, as well). If the units on the leaders in mm RA, it's as if the margins are set to 3mm, then Yes, you would need to move text objects in their guides. Images can be enlarged to extend off the page in 3 mm inisde if you wish, or also moved the guides.

One of the ways to accomplish this (sliding all inward) would be to place your current pages into a new document to correct size and scale. "' You can do this by using the script you will find at InDesignSecrets" Blog Archive "Zanelli releases MultiPageImporter for importing PDF and INDD files

Another option is to find a printer who understands that the position of the content area is critical and can print and cut tight tolerance required. This service is likely to cost more.

  • Question about preparing files for printing from Photoshop

I need to understand the best way to save for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing to me:

Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I find myself with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following statements is the best method:

Method 1: create a PDF, and embed the fonts. This method, which worries me because I read that some fonts will not be open on the end of beneficiaries because of restrictions imposed by the manufacturer of the police. I should be concerned or is embedding fonts the best route to take?

Method 2: Convert all types of forms. This method seems to be the most secure, but I read problems related to this road as well. A site commented that having too much text converted into forms can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?

Another problem I encountered with the conversion of text in forms is when I have a paragraph that has more than one color of text... convert forms converts just one color. I would like to know a work around that. Currently, I create separate layers for different text colors and try to align them manually... a lot of your time. I know that InDesign would be best for this kind of thing, but Photoshop works very well for me, asside from this little thing).

Method 3: Flatten my whole design (text and everything) at 300 dpi. My text will look like flattening crunchy at this resolution?

Thanks to all who can help clarify this for me. I read so much incompatible information online that I don't know what to think.

It would be great if there were a being all put an end to all the applications that actually everything we dream in one application. Maybe someday, but it's not the reality at this point. There is no IllustPhotoDesigner, so we need to deal with what we have to work with. It beats paper and pens, at times, but it has limits as well.

In fact, In Design is much easier to use then Photoshop. You take the tool like Photoshop and type text. You place the images using the place command. You create PDF files by exporting to PDF or use the print dialog box.

Photoshop is great for editing images of several kinds. Text is not really one of them unless you perform a text as a graphic you want to create an image in the text.  Creating a paragraph of text ends usually soft because if you're setting type in Photoshop, you are dealing with the resolution of the file so that if you type set In Design, you are not limited to the resolution of files, but the resolution of the device output you print on.

  • ? subject of transparency for printing

    Hello

I designed a card that will be printed on kraft paper. In order to simulate the way that ink will print for complete application,

I adjusted the transparency of the art, so that the color of the paper showed through.

    My question is this:

When I prepare the final art, and I did not necessarily want dark colors (this is 4 color process) can I lighten colors making them transparent, or change the color values to lighten it?

In other words, what is the difference between clear colors vs setting transparency when working in CMYK mode?

    Thank you

    Melissa

The math method will work in your production of print file.  The transparent "comp" is sufficient for the screen view.  Should not be used the false craft paper color melts in your print file production.  But, you can apply a transparencvy of 60% of your works of art in the production of print file, only you would remove the fake craft paper color.  So, for printing, you can use mathematics or transparency.  For the screen, you would use the method of transparency as well as the background color of fake craft paper (you already did).
