Fitting Air Express

Today, I added a user invited to my Airport Express, but I can not connect my iPhone 6 or my Mac Book Air to the internet when I try to use the network of comments.  The wifi in the network preferences area shows Self-Assigned IP.  I don't have any problem, just using my wifi network when I try to use the new comments system.

My express is hard wired from my DSL modem, so I can use it as an Ethernet connection to my iMac.  My iMac will also work out of my wifi network but not the network of comments.

I tried the network invited and with a password.  What Miss me?

Thanks for any help.

It sounds as if your AirPort Express is connected to a device modem/router or gateway, which may have been provided by your Internet service provider.  A modem/router or gateway will look something like this:

Network functionality "invited" on airport routers will not work properly when there is another router 'upstream' on the network.  In other words, the guest network feature will work correctly with a simple modem... which allows the airport being the "primary" router on the network. A simple modem looks like this:

My express is hard wired from my DSL modem

Your "modem" could be much more than a modem. It can be a device modem/router or gateway, such as the first example above.

Type of device do you have?

If you are not sure what type of device you have, thanks for posting back with the number of brand and model of the device that you call your "modem".  (Is not a serial number)

  • My Port of Air express does not appear on the usefulness of air port on my iPhone

I have an Apple air port express router to connect the remote speakers. I installed a new router wireless modem Arris and reconnected successfully the apple tv. However, the air port express does not appear on either of my iPhone airport utility or the menu wi fi iPad. So I have no way to connect air port exress my router to base.

If your AirPort Express Terminal has already been configured as a receiver AirPlay, and it is not on the current WiFi, AirPort Utility has no way to find. I suggest that you use the button on the airport to restore it to factory settings and to reconfigure it according to the manual. You can also configure your new router to use the same SSID and key as the prior network. Then, the airport will not know the difference.

  • Green light but no access

    Hello!

I have an express access point (2nd generation) connected to my router and two other express AP to extend wifi (we bought last week, and the other is 1st gen).

Usefulness of the AP shows that everything is ok and all LEDs are green, but anyone can access the 1st gen AP express. I tried to reset and restore of factory default many times, but the problem is still there!

I also tried a downgrade with firmware but no way... They are all green but any device can access.

    So what can I do?

I'm a bit confused as the title of your post "no access", but your explanation says that 'any device can access.

If you look at the diagram of the network in AirPort Utility, you should see what a globe at the top of the screen with the 2nd Gen AirPort Express connected by a solid line to the world.

Then, two other Air Express devices should be placed side by side and that both must be connected with a dashed to the "main" AirPort Express line.

The display should not display the two AirPort Express devices displayed vertically. They must be displayed side by side horizontally.

If you could post a screenshot of your network configuration utility AirPort, that would be really useful to understand your network.

  • 1602 cleanair, cover & with MSE

    Hello

I had some doubts about the 1600 series-cisco access points. Client asks how it differs from cisco 2600 series-access points. I am particularly interested,

1 difference between Cleanair and cleanair express in the layman's term. These are all of the features will be missed if we use the cisco 1600 instead of 2600 series-access points.

    2. What is the distance that can cover the 1600 & 2600? 1600 can achieve good results in warehouse environments, where the roof is 30 feet high from the ground?

    3. all are funtionalities will change in the usecases folowing MSE with 1600 (cleanair express), MSE with 2600 (cleanair), MSE without cleanair on its own.

    Thank you

    Hey riri,.

    1. the difference between the quality of the air and air express to the layman's term. These are all of the features will be missed if we use the cisco 1600 instead of 2600 series-access points.

It is best to compare the technical data sheets for each access point, but I would probably lean 2700e, 3600e or 3700e for what you are trying to accomplish. Of course, this will depend on the size of the Organization and the budget.

11n perspective, there are a few differences that make the 2700 more suited to this environment, but this is not to say that the 1600 will not work. The 2700 also supports ac 11.

    For example:

    11n support over 1600

    • 3 x 3 multiple-input multiple output (MIMO multiple) with two spatial streams
    • Ratio combining (MRC)
    • 20 and 40 MHz channels
    • PHY rates up to 300 Mbps
    • Package aggregation: A-MPDU (Tx/Rx), A-MSDU (Tx/Rx)
    • dynamic 802.11 frequency selection (DFS) (Bin 5)
    • Support of diversity (CSD) Maj cyclical

    11n support on 2700

    • 3 x 4 MIMO with three flow space
    • Ratio combining (MRC)
    • 802.11n and 802. 11a / g forming beam
    • 20 and 40 MHz channels
    • PHY rates up to 450 Mbps (40 MHz with 5 GHz)
    • Package aggregation: A-MPDU (Tx/Rx), A-MSDU (Tx/Rx)
    • dynamic 802.11 frequency selection (DFS)
    • Support of diversity (CSD) Maj cyclical

There is some site survey related questions that must be answered before you can decide with certainty what AP and antenna to use. 2.4 GHz in these types of environments is often disturbing because of the difficulties associated with single channel, interference and multi-path RF. I prefer to activate features such as client select this option to delete queries from survey 2.4 GHz, which subsequently allows you to take out of the 11A and 11n of the band using 5 GHz. (more channels, etc.)

    Issues related to the:

    • What kind of clients are used? They support 11A or 11n (5 GHz).

    • Should customers roam seamlessly? What is acceptable packet loss?

    1. What is the distance that 1600 & 2600 can cover?

    2. Can the 1600 good results in warehouse environments, where the roof is 30 feet high from the ground?

RF distance comes from the data rates supported, antenna Gain and and the transmitting power. It is also dependent on factors RF, such as interference and Multipath RF.

In a warehouse with 30-foot ceilings, it is important to ensure that you are using an access point which offers the possibility to use external antennas (higher gain). As mention above, multipath RF is often a design review environments of warehouses because of the metallic nature of structure and shelves.

    4. What is the feature will change in the following use cases:

    • MSE with 1600 (express air quality)

    • MSE with 2600 (clean air)

    • MSE without air on its own.

I hope the white paper listed above air quality answer to most of your questions.

  • MacBook Air Mid 2011 Wifi only next to the Airport Express

    Hey everybody!

These days I have trouble with one of my MacBook Air. I plug a new as my girlfriend needs a job.

Anyway. I have updated to OS X El Capitan and struggle with the wifi. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar closest to you to solve the problems in the system.

As I had to download the OS X on my Mac Pro, I had a problem with the wifi these permissions switch and system information. If you scroll to the installation, there should be a list of installed software. In my case nothing.

After that the genius of Apple erased the disk and started the installation via ethernet with an Apple Server, I got a new version of OS X El Capitan on it. Everything appears fine (system information).

The Wifi worked perfectly in the store.

So, I got not any chance to try at home immediately. Today, I wanted to put the macbook for other facilities. I noticed that the wifi is extremely slow.

I deleted the cache (which does not yet exist). I have reset the starting power setting. I have reset my Airport express from Apple. I changed the DNS to google DNS (8.8.8.8./8.8.4.4.). I too turned off bluetooth.

    All without any modification.

BUT if I'm right in front of the apple express (literally sitting on the router), the wifi works without any problem.

Please, I beg you! I have no idea what to do next. My other Mac Air and pro work perfectly. Any distance. (They have been disabled for testing). iPhone, iPad and Apple TV work fine.

I seem to have this problem with my MacBook, a model of early 2015. What I was told is that the Wi - Fi antenna is nested in the compartment of the screen, located on the edge, practising thus pressure deforms it. Because the body is made of aluminum, the body involuntarily also acts as an antenna, interfere with the Wi - Fi signal. Here are the two plausible reasons why sometimes the signal is lost or slows down, and it made perfect sense to me.

Maybe it's the issue here. If that's the case then I would attribute that to the misconception. I'm sure you can get it fixed, although I don't know how you would seeing that Apple seems to weld their new machines stop.

  • Would be switching to a simultaneous dual‑band 802.11n AirPort Express correct problems with connectivity MacBook Air Wi - Fi

Right now I use an old AirPort Express Terminal (802.11 DSSS 1 and 2 Mbps standard, 802 11A, 802.11 g specifications and a 802.11n draft specification) with AirPort Utility Version 6.3.6 (636.5). My MacBook Air (13 inches, beginning 2014) intermittently loses the Wi - Fi connection. Move to a 802.11n simultaneous dual‑band AirPort Express would correct this problem? I'd be better off with an Airport Extreme?

  • Can I use Airplay with an Airport Express station and a MacBook Air without going through a WAN connection?

I want to set up my MacBook Air and an Airport Express so I can use iTunes and AirPlay to connect wireless to the AirPort Express Terminal and connected powered speakers to listen to the music in my iTunes library. Is this possible? I don't want to connect to an existing wireless network to do this. I want that this configuration to work wherever I am regardless of the availability of an existing WiFi network. I want a direct wireless connection between the MacBook Air and the Airport Express. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks for your help in a confusing question.

    Yes, it will work.

You must configure the Express in router mode... the EXTENDED network of the give a static IP address and ignore the problems. You will get several questions... because the network is internet-facing. They can all be ignored... This is how it is.

You can also use a static IP configuration. I use this on a TC, but the same configuration on an Express might work better than router. It can be a delicate touch of the installation. So after some screenshots if you are having problems.

  • air port express problem

I an express airport, 8-10 years and want to use it to extend a modem/router to comcast wifi coverage and do not know how to do it from my computer because I can't find an application control this old man who works with 10.9.5 or above.  Does anyone know 1) If this is possible or 2) how can I do?

    Thank you!

The Airport Express is able to extend wireless network providing another router from Apple, which is probably quite a lot of a killer in the face right there.

The next question... even if you have another router Apple producing wireless network... which is the application to implement the will of the AirPort Express only run on the older operating systems such as Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x)... since Apple has dropped support for the old version of the Express 3-4 years ago.

IF... you can connect to the Express permanently to your modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable... and IF you have or can borrow a PC with the AirPort 5.6.1 for Windows utility installed to implement the Expess... it might be possible to set up to provide a wider wireless coverage.

It is remarkable that a 8-10 years old Express even fuel at all.  Most of these devices took, on average, about 3-4 years.

  • AIR application that fits the WHOLE screen

I have an AIR application that manages the mode full-screen, but I was wondering is there a way to get rid of the gray bottom bar so that the application fills the whole screen entirely? It seems a bit pointless because it is there and for me it takes away the effectiveness of full-screen completely in my opinion.

    It's the bar, I mean: -.

    Hi there, tygb!

Thank you for joining the communities Support from Apple! It's a big question about changing the name and the password for your base station. Read this article here with the steps to use 6.x AirPort Utility: change your base station name and the password. This will not give you to use the utility to make the changes.

  • Verizon PC5750 Air card

I'm new here and I'm almost ready to order me a Lenovo T500, but I need to know if my Air Verizon PC5750 card will fit and work in system expansion slots.  I guess it is 54 mm.  I another year on the Verizon contract and didn't want to change.

Everything I need to consider before ordering the T500?

    Thanks in advance,

    Utahtea

Hello and welcome to the Forum!

When you order your new T500 you will be presented with two options:

    * Express Card Slot & PC Card Slot
    * Express Card Slot & Smart Card Reader

The first option (express card & pc card) is the default choice and the one you want. Your AirCard requires a PC card slot.

What about the other options that it's you, I suggest that give you a lot of attention to the resolution of the screen so that you get an optimal for your use. Except that it's simply a matter of how you will use your new T500 and what you need to accomplish that.

I am composing this answer on my new T500 and it's a fantastic machine.

    See you soon...

  • Enabling iCloud library fills a storage capacity on macbook air

So I try to upload my pictures on iCloud to free up storage on my Macbook air.  Besides the fact that this process seems to take forever, I noticed when it goes I'm actually losing space on my hard drive.  This caused the upload stop and gives me the error message indicating that I have no more space on my hard drive and the process cannot continue.  I made sure the storage parameter optimize is on so that I do not download originals to iCloud.  Also, when I turn off iCloud, I don't have storage space.  So I have the feeling that anything that is uploaded is downloaded several times.

So my question is what is being downloaded, and how to delete to free up more space on my hard drive?

The use of the photo library of iCloud frees space on your Mac, it uses the same space, as it would if you do not use. So if you don't have enough space on your Mac to fit photos, you'll have enough space to use the photo library.

    Try another service for storage.
