Fixing or replacement of Outlook Express 6.0

Hello, need help on Outlook Express 6.0.

OE will not open after restart the computer & if no other aps don't work. It is not rec' or by sending to all v.
He'll tell that OE is not stopped correctly.  Then it says Server POP3 does not not after 60 sec - wait or stop? (this OE message appears on all aps -frequently) Then it shows OE trying to retrieve messages and says connection, then after 1/2 min said disconnection.  However, I get emails and can see them on the page of my ISP that I access when you are away my pc at home.  Currently, using windows XP pro.  This can be corrected?  If so, how?

Alternatively, since I did not need to save anything in OE, and everything else works, is it possible to remove the program from the OE completely and download Windows Live? If so, how?     Thank you!

Sometimes the links change, and this thread is 2½ years. Try this.

You must use the same password that you would use if you have access to your messages via the Webmail of your server site. You will need to reset it with them.

  • How can I fix error 0x800C0133 # for Outlook Express 6

I had been away from my Outlook Express 6 on this computer for several months and when I went to download e-mail messages that have been accumulated, he kept downloading the same emails again and again until there were about 70 000 e-mails between my account from Comcast and Hotmail via Outlook Express.  When I tried to remove them, I could not, then at some point all of my emails have disappeared and I can send emails, but I can't receive them and I get the error message 0x800CO133 and I don't know what to do.  How can I fix it?

    Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

    Can someone help please

Reset IE as default value even if it already seems that is first, and then restart it.

Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults. Custom + down arrow | Choose a default browser. Select the Internet Explorer radio button.

If nothing happens when you click on a link:
Open Windows Explorer or on the control panel.
Go to tools | Folder options | Types of files.
Scroll to [NONE] URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT the shortcut URL: Internet) and select it.
Click Edit or advanced, depending on your version of Windows.
    Choose 'open '.
    Click on change.

"Application used to perform action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM may EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" - nohome (check the path to)
Iexplore.exe to ensure that it is correct and use the double quotes).

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below, you should have:

    #1:
    « %1 »,,-1,0,,,

    #2
    IExplore

    #3 (white)

    #4
    WWW_OpenURL

Protocol URL: HyperText Transfer with Privacy should be the same.

If the foregoing is correct, uncheck the box: use DDE.

And if you still have problems, try a new OE identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

  • How can I have my default server (ATT) e-mail format, windows XP (which I want to keep as a default), replace the Outlook Express window when I'm tryin for a company whose I am the web site e-mail browzing?

Currently, when I'm browzeing a website and click on their email option to write, I always get the format of Outlook Express. I have it fill my msg, click on send - he's trying to send but don't market not to go. I just get a msg of error that server is not found.

According to Bruce, you get to make it appear the webmail interface to the AT & T mail server.  To work around the problem, you can either a configuration for AT & T account in OE under Tools | Accounts | Add | By mail, or if you want to do, when he evokes the new OE message by clicking on the mailto link, then just copy the e-mail address in the window of the EO, close it and compose a new message and paste this link into the email field.

Webmail is not configured to be able to handle mailto links.  This is why they have separate e-mail programs.

Spell checker has suddenly stopped working!  No clue as to why!

OE 6 doesn't come with it's own spellcheck. You need to Word or MS Office program, before 2007. The spell checker in Works 4 to 6 will work with OE, but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can download a free spell check to one of these sites.

Hi and thanks for the use of Microsoft Answers!

To help you, I'll need more information about the problem you are experiencing:
    • The error occurs whenever an e-mail message is sent?
    • The error occurs when sending to someone else?
Also, creation of a screenshot of the error messages you receive, and which ad here would greatly! For more help to create screenshots, see the following Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/screenshot.mspx
In addition, it may be easier to look at using Windows Live Mail, the replacement of Outlook Express from Microsoft. You can learn more about this and download it here: http://download.live.com/wlmail?lc=1033
    I hope this helps!

  • I can't send email from my outlook express (I can receive them). Anyone know how to fix this?

I phoned my ISP that says that the problem was not with them, it was probably with the norton anti virus firewall. I called norton and they have made a few tests, including disabling the anti virus software and the problem is still there. Here is the message I get when I try and send an email ' 552: the message exceeds the limit of 200 system and was not sent, Port 25: secure SSL. " No Ox800CCC60 error number. "My blacbkerry will send and receive emails from my work by default email address, but my work email will not send from the PC on outlook express.  I can't talk to my ISP since they are based in England and I am currently working in California, anyone know what the problem is likely to be and how to fix?

If your ISP is also your email provider, they lie to you or the person to whom you spoke was just ignorant...  The error message is a mistake from their server server-side.  There may be no doubt of that.  It seems to indicate that they do not allow more than 200 messages, but the error is rather ambiguous it is impossible to determine what line the error refers and what period of time the limit extends.

Moreover, the original forum where you posted was on Outlook, not Outlook Express.  I moved your post to the correct forum.
