Flag p2-1124 PC hard drive completely before...

If I buy a new hard drive and order the recovery disks it will work? From what I've read, I'm a little hesitant to try to do it because of all the "it does not because it is not a supported disc stories. It is a Windows 7 computer and the new drive I bought is a 1 Seagate to not a 500g Western Digital. I tried to clone/ghost the old drive, but it was already too late, my option is order recovery disks and pray it works, or just get a new pc. Any help will do, thanks in advance!

Hello:

If you can live without the programs supplied with your PC, do your own installation of W7 media and use the product key of W7 on your PC case to activate the installation.

Here's how the recovery disks do not work if you are affected (and sometimes they're not).

If you have the product key 25 character Windows 7 64 bit you can make your own regular installation of W7 media and allows to install W7.

Here is how to do this if you have the product key for W7...

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below. Download the Windows 7 version that is on your product (Home Premium, professional or ultimate) key to apply.

The easiest way is to use a USB to SATA or IDE USB adapter. (most of the adapters offer both).

  • have Firefox existing to use another hard drive completely

My hard drive on my laptop is running out. I get corruption especially when I run Firefox and constantly, run chkdsk because vista is not able to handle the constant of e/s. is it possible that I can transfer everything to my new hard drive USB so that my existing installation of Firefox does not access the old drive more? It seems to be the only application causing blue screens due to disk corruption. I will replace the drive but who want to be able to run Firefox until I do. (coming soon) Thank you.

Thank you very much @jscher2000 for lightning fast help. Success! At first, he wouldn't and kept back running like a new facility because I was running always Firefox 35 and when I checked it for info version automatically updated itself to 37.0.1, and now it starts from the D: drive as if it was from the c: drive, and it seems that access to drive c : internal is now minimal.

I also noticed that my ini file has been removed with the upgrade and it probably did not work with the v35 because I would probably have to edit it. (Isrelative and path). Yet once again, thank you so much, I wanted to really operate as before with all my recorded history as I have always run with 22 open tabs and never delete my history, cache or cookies, and is probably why it takes 3-4 minutes for my c: stop disk activity (firefox may close its open files) after I closed firefox. This seems to do what I want it to!

  • Can't reformat hard drive iMac before recycling 10.6.8 running

How can I reformat my hard drive on an older iMac where I lost the beginning upward and the recovery disks? I'm running OS X 10.6.8 version. Whenever I try to start by now the keys order and R it just starts normally.

Recovery does not work on this computer, unless he qualifies for an update of the firmware.

You will need to get the original installation discs since it's the only way to do it-call Apple and give them your serial number.

I want to regularly wipe my hard drive. How can I do this?

    Hello

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need.

Check out these links for help:

  • New computer that is running Windows 7 does not recognize my external hard drive completely

I bought a new PC with windows 7.  I use an external hard drive with USB to move the files from the old PC (XP) to the new PC.

When I go to 'my computer' focus on the external hard drive storage devices is not displayed.

When I go on my devices, the external hard drive appears.  When I look at the details on this HD and pushes to execution, windows States there are no problem.

The clues of what I need to do so that I can look at the files on my external hard drive?

    Thank you

    Hi Andre,

I've struggled for some time with this one, here's how I finally solved it.  Apparently, USB drivers for mass storage devices was not compatible with my external hard drive.  I simply uninstalled the USB drivers for mass storage devices, then plugged my hard drive.  Automatically downloading appropriate drivers, and I was good to go.

Just thought you might want to know that.

  • External hard drive complete Lightroom 3

    Hello

I've been running 3 Lightrrom successfully from a disk of 1 TB external, attached to my iMac, everything has been good. But now my drive is full and I want to add my new 2 TB for the system drive.

My question is; 1. can I just add the new drive to LR3 and focus on importing new photos on the new drive and still have access to my old stuff?

    2. where can I copy my library on the new drive and continue?

I'm shooting a wedding in the morning so I am really keen to settle this issue tonight.

I would be so grateful for your help.

    Clint,

You can have pictures on drives as much as you want. Lightroom keeps only a pointer to where each one is. Your #1 is the way things are.

  • Re: Satellite U400-11 q with Vista has new HARD drive but no recovery disk

    Hello

Before starting a very important message: I do not usually work with pc... :-) At my work we have an IT Department for our PC :-))

However, now I have to work privately with a PC / laptop and I need help: I'm sitting in front of a Toshiba Satellite U400-11 q with a HARD drive completely newly formatted and unfortunately WITHOUT recovery CD or DVD!

So far I managed to format the new HARD drive and put a Windows Vista Home Basic (OEM software) from my old pc on this notebook. However, nothing works again (I want to get into the Internet, etc.).

So, I now have to put on all the involved drivers as well as drivers TOSHIBA original, right?

How can I do this? What drivers to I need? Do I have to download all the drivers concerned (total 113) one by one on the Web from Toshiba site?

ANY help is appreciated as I see myself spend all night in front of the PC...

    Thank you
    M

For the benefit of mobile work, you need to install all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities.
Each of them you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Any substance must be installed according to installation order. Here it is:
    Windows Vista SP1
    Chipset Intel module
    Intel Robson (Intel iMSM Driver)
    Intel Crestline-GM / UMA Driver
    or
    AMD M82XT /M86 driver
    Audio driver Conexant CX20561
    Driver LAN Marvell 8040/8055
    Synaptics Touch Pad Driver
    Conexant Modem driver
    Wireless LAN driver
    Chicony camera software
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
    CIR Port driver
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package
    TOSHIBA hardware configuration utility
    TOSHIBA supervisor password
    TOSHIBA SD Memory utilities
    AuthenTec AES1610 fingerprint utility
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree
    TOSHIBA Assist
    TOSHIBA Speech System
    CD/DVD Drive Acoustic Silencer
    Toshiba HDD Protection
    TOSHIBA face recognition
    TOSHIBA TRS driver
    Broadcom V2.14.4.0
    HDMI Control Manager
    ProtonPack for Vista

Install all the stuff on this list. If there is something missing just continue with the next.

By the way: this machine works perfectly with Win7 32-bit so I highly recommend you to use Win7 instead of Vista.

  • Question about password on the new Satellite A105 HARD drive

I am the owner of a Satellite A105 and the hard drive was failing. I got a new hard drive but before I gave up on the current one I decided to wipe it clean and a few tools to see if it was a way to recover.

Well, when wiping clean it restarts and then he showed me a message saying "password type of HARD drive internal" or something similar. I do not know the password so I can't use the hard disk more (or is there a way to reset the password?), but before you install the new hard drive I want to know if there could be a problem installing the new hard drive in the laptop without knowing the previous password.

I mean, it locks the new hard drive or is it completely independent of the installed hard drive? The one I have is brand new, and I want to know if I plug it in and from the laptop are all I have to do?

    Hello

If the HARD drive password has been activated and you don t usually know this password then the HARD drive is locked and can no longer be used.
It s simply not accessible and it s not possible to remove this password.

    > I want to know if there could be a problem installing the new hard drive in the laptop without knowing the previous password. I mean, it locks the new hard drive or is it completely independent of the installed hard drive?
I think that he should t be any problem with a new HARD drive.
As I said the password is stored in the sector specials on the HARD drive. The old password should not exist on the new HARD drive (if the password has not been set).

    Best regards

  • White wiping whole hard drive

I have a 5720 to Acer Aspire with Vista Home Premium loaded.  I want TO erase safely the entire hard drive completely and totally blank so destroy all data and partitions (including of course hidden too).  I then want to repartition the hard drive and install Vista Business.  I have already deleted from the HARD drive and installed Windows clean several times.

I have a copy of Microsoft's Vista business and I discovered on my laptop HP yesterday (for which I have no HP drives...), this copy does NOT load the SATA AHCI driver - I discovered this by accident when I activated "State native SATA" in the BIOS and then concluded that Vista business would not be responsible and instead the computer goes through the post OFFICE to a black screen before the Microsoft logo then returned early POST again, and so on, in the round.  Deactivation of the native state SATA in BIOS stopped it and Vista loaded normally.  Oddly enough, a second computer HP (same model) loaded from the same copy of Vista without a hitch and in Device Manager, I saw what appeared to be the evidence of a single AHCI driver loading.  A period of frustration (think what the hell of Tasmania in the Roadrunner cartoons) led me to discover that the first drive is SATA I while the second one was SATA II (using Speccy, the last two 2nd hand buys).  Why Vista interacted with the two differently, I don't know.

Back to the Acer 5720 - Speccy reveals what has a SATA II HARD drive.  I have never had a factory for her records but you made my own now using eRecovery.

If I wipe the HDD well Acer empty, I imagine that the factory reset disc I made does not contain a full installation of any Windows operating system and become so useless for me (I did it as a blanket of security... I felt fine).  If I use the Microsoft disc again I load Vista Business, I fear that the SATA AHCI driver may not load.  He could--because this HDD is SATA II and the loaded HP SATA II as - but it might not.  -I note on a download page also on the Acer website (http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=548) that there is a download for Aspire 5720 SATA.  Is it the AHCI driver I need to load to load Vista professional stage where I am confronted by the screen "unallocated space" (the HARD drive has yet to be formatted) and the bottom, there is a button that says "load driver?

Sorry to be too verbose but I don't want to not end up with a blank HARD disk that does not do anything because the AHCI driver is missing and I can not reinstall Vista Home Premium from disks of factory reset because I destroyed the hidden partition or factory reset disk contains not a full copy of the Home Premium edition.

I would appreciate all the advice of those who did this please - thanks.

I think that is the driver ahci you need

    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&DwnldID=18668&ProdId=2791&lang=eng&OSVersion=...

You should try to install vista without driver ahci first, make sure you have in ahci mode in the bios

  • How to give away / sell my HP safely (with HARD drive).

I was looking for and ask questions on the forums about upgrading my Hp to match my new game requirements. I decided to look into new technologies and to give or sell my current pc. I asked in another thread, that I should protect my information until I got rid of my HARD drives. but I now I intend to separate from my unit as a whole, not just the HARD drive. I want the new user to have access to everything, including the operating system, otherwise it seems like a waste; all keep set will use the most out of this device. However, I also want this to be safe for me. Is it possible to run DBAN, and then re - install the operating system using recovery disks (and maybe a phone call, it will be the same motherboard and cpu, so technical support does not make a fuzz about this, right?). Or running DBAN will clear things to the point where the dics can do nothing more. I ask this question because there is a section on my computer that looks like this: IMAGE FACTORY (d) and when I click on it I get:

    Recovery partition

    Caveat!

This area of your hard drive

    (or partition) contains files used

for the recovery of your PC.

Do not delete or modify these files.

Any change to this partition could

    avoid recovery suite

Will be running DBAN will get rid of this and make the recovery dics is no longer applicable, or the dics still work without it? I am thinking about just a gift, it is and just tell the new owner to perform a full recovery of the system (factory settings), but this is probably a bad idea hu? Thank you for your help so far (it's the best forums of suport I was on); and exsuce me for having abused forums, but I could use your help once agan, where you, Big Dave?

    My unit: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01643518

Thank you for your time and your answers.

You can download DBAN 2.2.6 Beta for CD-R and DVD-R media and create a bootable disc. Start the computer from the disk and nuke the hard drive completely. You can set the style of the wipe, number of passes, etc.

Please make sure that you have created a set of HP recovery disks before using DBAN. The HP recovery discs will be used to format the disk, create partitions, install the operating system and restore the 'Image' to the machine. You won't have to call someone to enable the installation of the OS, as HP uses the BIOS, a special OEM certificate and a special HP OEM Windows key to activate the window locally.

  • my hard drives cannot be defragmented? Why?

12%.After Defrag before defragmentation using Disk Defragmenter, I checked the State of fragmentation of a disk is hard to show the same.again... using tune up utilities I defragmented my hard drives.but before and after defragmentation percent the framentation had even... Why so happening? / What is the * responsible for that?

Download and run Defraggler (freeware), you will be able to things by yourself:
    http://www.Piriform.com/Defraggler/download

Analyze and click file list and you will see a complete list of fragmented files. After defragmentation, click analysis and review the list of files. You will see the system restore points still listed and others he is unable to defragment.

Your 3D movie file is very big, so attempts to defragment, it may not work. The only way to defragment very large files is to copy them to another partition / drive. Delete the file in the first drive / partition and defragment the partition, including the free space (a Defraggler option). You can then copy the video file and you have a good chance that it will not be fragmented. If fragmented if will be less fragmented than before you started. If you download large defrag before you download files will help.

If you have a managed Windows swap file, it can be difficult to not see large files not fragment. The problem is that the pagefile can be multi fragmented which in turn fragments of free disk space. Defragmenters do not defragment a swap file, and these are building blocks on the disk. That is why I recommend to have a fixed minimum = maximum pagefile. However on a well filled partition (less than 60% free space) it becomes gradually more difficult to create a swap file single fragment.

  • Hard drive failure due to the update of El Capitan

    Hello world

I recently downloaded the update of el capitan and as many had the following problem.

Downloaded and update when installing, I get an error message saying that she didn't and to

Restart and try again. Tried several times but nothing helped.  According to previous discussions

    I tried the following.

    1. start in safe mode - failed

    2. start in recovery mode.

-disk checked ok but the repair disk fails.

    Re-install osx - Fail

Re-install time machine backup - fail.

Does anyone know if it is possible that simply trying to update software might

Screw up my hard drive? Before the hard drive update had no issue.  When I run

Disk fix 95% success and fails at the end!

Stuck for what to do at this point so any suggestions welcome thank you!

I was running a macbook pro 2011 on Yosemite luckily before that!

HD can fail at any time, your decided to fail while you were doing an update. Nothing but bad luck. Remember to replace the HD with an SSD.

  • Tecra S3 on Linux: hard drive not recognized

    Hello

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Tecra S3 and I'm happy with it, except for one important thing: I can not install Linux on it.

I tried with the latest versions of Fedora Core and Ubuntu, the hard drive seems to be detected, but it is not recognized at the time of installation. I guess it's a matter of (too) new chipset Serial ATA.

You have any recommendations or do you intend to contribute to the kernel modules in Linux/order that this model could be installed on Linux?

Also note that I remember that I had the same problem when I tried to install Windows XP from a CD (not the recovery cd): the hard drive has not been detected and the installation failed.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I can t believe that you can not install a Windows operating system.
You formatait once again the HARD drive? I recommend to format the HARD drive completely, then install the operating system.
In addition, if you want to use the Windows operating system, you must use the recovery CD because this image included all the necessary drivers.

If you want to work with the Linux operating system, I recommend using the Knoppix distribution. In this case you n t need to install anything. This Linux you can start from the DVD or CD and it works as a Linux operating system normally

    Good bye

  • Worried about HARD drive recovery deleted files

    Hello

Recently I deleted files recovery from HARD drive on the second drive hard partitioned on my laptop so I could melt in a hard drive.
After doing so, I realized HDDRecovery can important.

But I'm a little confused if you backed up to DVD/CD I did in any case the same utility?

So I have nothing to fear?

    Hello

HARD drive recovery is a nifty feature that would allow you to recovery of the laptop without the use of the Recovery DVD.
You could simply recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.

But now it's not possible because you have modified, deleted the partition of HARD disk and therefore, you can only use the recovery disc.

I think it will not copy the files from HARD drive on the new partition recovery, because the previous HARD drive recovery contained some hidden signs and flags that advocates for HARD drive recovery settings
