  I need to create a Flash CS5 solution that queries data from a database MS Access.  The Flash application and the database will be located on the same web server and the database will have a specific query for each function of Flash.  Is it possible to achieve this interface between Flash and access with some ActionScript magic alone?  Or, is it an intermediate stage (or stages) that should be taken to query the data from access and put it back into Flash?

  in theory, it is possible to talk directly to a database with actionscript, but it's very complex.

  most people use a side script server what Flash communicates with and talks of script for the database. Assuming you are using a windows server, look for flash tutorials on connecting to a SQL database - it is essentially the same as the connection to a db access.

  one thing to note on access: it can handle 10 simultaneous connections so its not very good for sites Web - if possible, use a mySQL or SQL database.

  Thanks to Sean and Mark! You guys really helped me to get to my solution.

  Here is the final code for the frame of the end:

  This in combination with the keys of reading and stop (indicated in the thread) gives me exactly what I need. This way when I stop the Flash sprite he not going to my Menu marker until currentFrame is superior to totalFrames. I guess I could also use a greater than or equal to, but it works in my scene.

• Adobe Flash Player with YouTube questions in Metro applications

  I bought a device Windows RT today...
  If I find a YouTube video via the desktop using Internet Explorer mode, I can view videos ok.

  But if I want to use the subway to Internet Explorer or subway from Google apps for watching YouTube videos it says I need a new version of flash player. It allows videos to play, but if I try a video to 720 p or full screen even 360 p, the drop in fps terribly so I am presented with the grey sections through the videos.
  I would appreciate help!

  His flash player videos where ever I am in a window store app. He can manipulate the normal size of 360 p, but as soon as I try full screen video or 720 p, it falls just fps and then the grey sections begin to appear.

  As soon as I switch to Office mode, it works fine.

If I want to reduce up to 12 fps, is there an easy way to cut the timeline in half (do the animation run at the original rate), with all the keyframes, the motion tweens, etc. automatically reduced by a percentage, rather than having to go and manually all cut in half?
  
  Before these other byte shaving suggestions are made, I should say that I am well aware of the problems with things like alpha blends, gradients and reducing the size of JPEG compression. I've already supported such things to get more realistic results.
  
  Any idea anyone can give me would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  There is no easy way to "accordion". the chronology of animation in Flash But
  for a quick test, you will see that if you change the pace and the test
  your movie, the file size will not change. Frame rate has no effect on the file
  size. But if the reduction of the duration of the Tween is be the by-product of a
  a slower pace, then file size will be smaller - how it is difficult to
  say and depends on your tween animations.
  Whatever it is, if it should happen, it must be done manually by deleting frames
  yourself. There is no built-in Flash automated task. Sorry :(

  My firefox is unable to play any Flash for months.

  Here are the questions:
  1. If I want to watch videos on Youtube, it turns out to be just as black (by clicking on the video can trigger the icon well break).
  2. If I want to watch a Web site with Flash, it just loads the first 2 seconds and then Flash freezes.

  I have read all the help information in the forum and tried several solutions (see below), but none of them worked:

  -Uninstall and reinstall Firefox

        1) when entered Youtube without Flash installed, the website asked me to install Flash but it somehow ended to a failure so I had to manually download and install
        2) after installing Flash, I also went to: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. I can see the version info but not the animation of the banner - it just shows a red box and then disappears after a few secs.
  

  -Reset Firefox
  -Use mode browser safe
  -Install the latest version of Realplayer
  -Analyze the State of the plugin on the Web site: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  -Disable hardware acceleration in the advanced option
  -Regenerate the file "pluginreg.dat".

  I use WIn 7 (64-bit), with Firefox 24.0 and Flash11_8_800_168. I spent too much time on this issue and now I use Chrome to view the video.

  Hi Jeffery, I'm not familiar with a lot of your plugins. In the event that one of them could have an impact on Flash content, could disable you any that you do not use on a regular basis? (Set to 'never activate')
