  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
  • %AppData%\Adobe\Flash Player
  • %AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player

  Yes, this isn't how Flash Player works.  It is not a video player.  You can * write * a video player for Flash using ActionScript that would play FLVs, but this isn't what you're trying to do.

With Microsoft support the ActiveX for Win8.x package, we have lost the "Add/Remove Programs" (aka "programs and features") entry for flash player for IE. (Now, our chefs are inaccurate because I know every customer of Win8 activex of flash player, but one) it is not counted, and b) we do not know which version is on a computer.

  We can get the current number of KB Microsoft Update for the flash player activex, but that changes on a monthly basis, requiring engineering on our side and we have the bandwidth.

  ActiveX: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerActiveX > Version

  Plugin: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin > Version

  It is much better than the entry in Add/Remove programs.
