  Hi all

  I downloaded the latest version of Adobe flash player. Otherwise my mac (version 10.9.2.) will not play videos etc on the internet.

  I tried a lot of things. I followed everything and done Adobe guidelines so that I didn't have any version of Adobe flash player on my macbook more. After that I run a clean install of the latest Adobe flash player, but it always stops at 75%, saying: "unable to install".

  I hope someone or adobe's fix for this problem. Maybe from time to adobe to update the latest version of flash player...

  OK, so I see that there is a new flash player and I have several questions.  I have windows xp pro sp3. When I download the new flash player for Internet explore and click on run he moved very well. However when I check to see the version, the version was not updated. I have 11.0.1.152. And on the other hand on firefox when I mean the latest version to firefoxit shows me an old version number 10.3.183.11.It also did the same thing on the mozolli site. but I said, I want to update a more recent version it shows me the most recent version.   Okay, let's see if we can clean your installs and try again.  Assuming that you are running the 32-bit version of XP, here are the steps to try:

  1. download uninstaller stand alone

  2. close all browser windows

  3. launch the uninstaller

  4 restart your computer

  5 remove the following folder:

  • c:\windows\system32\macromed

  6. download and install Flash Player located here:

  • Flash Player for Internet Explorer
  • Flash Player for other browsers

We tried to uninstall Firefox and reinstalling and that did not help. We also tried to uninstall Adobe Flash and reinstall a new version of it as well. None of them is the problem. Firefox reset as well didn't help either. Being that this happens only on one computer I think it's a very strange situation. Y at - there anyone out there who has an idea of what is happening and how to fix or is really something that can't be fixed? There is no virus on the system. Yes, I tried the update through the update button as well as trying to go directly to the site Adobe itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Well, I just thought about it all now, but I still want to thank you for your help. You'll love the answer too. I was literally looking at the plugin page and I saw 17.0.9.18 and I arrived just to scroll to the bottom of the page where he showed another application like 17.0.9.18. Guess what he listed as. Real Player. I uninstalled Real Player cloud of programs and it solved the problem. The problem is that stupid little icon appears as Adobe Flash up and in fact what we really know that for 17.0.9.18 is true cloud player. Boy, heaven's to betsy, if anyone out there has the problem I did I sure as hell hope it helps you too. Thanks again for your help. I use no loss anyway so no Real big Player cloud for me. XD

  Looks like your system is compromised. What created this 'plugins' folder (index: it wasn't Adobe - I have Flash Player XP, Win 7 and two 2 Win 8 machines, and NONE of them has such a record) is causing the error message because it allows most likely spyware via Flash.

  I met the same problem with the version of portable Firefox, I've tried.  I found myself ignoring the record (with the text file) that they have provided and created my own folder 'plugins' alongside firefox executable.

  As to why I went with 10.3 11.4, it was mainly because we added in Flash Player 11.3 protected mode.  While this might work (it didn't on my first attempt), it adds a layer of complexity that I didn't want to face.  If you need some of the new features of 11.x, then you have to play with it to see if you can get this to work.  One thing to try would be to modify the mms.cfg by disabling the protected-mode, however, I do not know if this file is accessible outside your windows\system32\macromed\flash folder.

  It is possible that there is a problem with Adobe Flash player specifically. Have you tried to watch videos with other browsers?

  As a warning, I tried to find a safe place to download the 12.0.0.77 version, but I couldn't find one without risk. Be careful if you decide to go this route. Make sure you have at least some form of antivirus and firewall before you try this.

  Apparently this problem with Adobe took place April 8 this year, so it's fairly new. In addition, apparently Chrome uses an integrated in flash player which does not have this plug-in. If really you need or want to watch videos, and it is a problem with Adobe, you can use Chrome for now.

  Hi sgcpenny, Flash is by far the most common plugin. I think it is unlikely that the others work on the sites where you don't want to run. It does not hurt to try the setting and see if it works for you.
