Flash Player update settings

Hello

In our Department, always put us Flash Player to never check the updates.

As admins, we wanted to take control of the distribution of the Flash to avoid potential problems.

There have been 3 Flash updates in the last 2 weeks, so we decided it's better to let the updates to install.

We do not want go through 100 Macs and change the configuration manually one computer at a time.

Can you help me how and what preference I can edit to be distributed to all computers to change this setting?

Thank you

Stacey

Hi Stacey,

The update settings are stored in the mms.cfg file.  On Mac, it is located in/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mms.cfg

There are two types of updates: background updates and Notification:

  • For background updates Flash Player checks an update once a day (this interval is not adjustable), in the background, and if an update is found, it automatically installs the player, silently in the background.  No user interaction is required.

    • The parameters of the file mms.cfg for background updates are:

AutoUpdateDisable = 0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 1

  • Flash Player checks for updates of the Notification, an update, silently in the background once every 7 days (this interval is adjustable).  If an update is detected, a Notification of update dialog box displays informing the user that an update is available.  The user can proceed to the installation or service of notice to reject.  If rejected, the process repeats again within 7 days. For updates of the Notification, the user will be asked to provide a password for the Admin to install Flash Player.  If your users do not have administrator permissions or access an administrator account, then updates background would be the best option.

    • Updates the notification:

AutoUpdateDisable = 0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 0

  • To change the Notification update check interval, add AutoUpdateInterval = #, where # is the number of days between intervals (valid values are 0-30, where 0 checks each content Flash in time is read, 1 is once per day, etc.).

Another solution is to accommodate updates to background in-house, on your server.  You download the file of resources containing updates, in the required directory structure, this post to your server internal and add an entry to the mms.cfg file to use your internal server.  If you host background updates internally, the workflow Notification update is disabled.  You can get more information on accommodations background updates internally to page 21 of the Guide Administration of Adobe Flash Player for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection.

    Hello

    No, it certainly isn't a Flash Player update to the official address notification.  If you have the full URL path that generated it, please private message it me and I'll pass it on to the team of fraud for study.

    Thank you.

  • I've always had an Adobe Flash Player update for my frustrating timing Mac users...

    I always had an Adobe Flash Player update for my frustrating timing Mac users and have tried to find ways to run the upgrade to multiple users via ARD, but could never find the .pkg file. Today, after a lot of research I found this help file,

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Flash-Player/KB/installation-problems-Flash-Player-Mac.html

    To this is a link to the .dmg file that contained the .app file that had the installer .pkg. The link has been labeled the Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI

    My question is: can I use this link to get the latest Flash Player .pkg installer in the future?

    Hi wkrites,

    The PACKAGE inside the APP as a whole is not intended for distribution, you are referring and will not install some required components.

    If you distribute Flash Player within your organization, we offer a PKG Installer to be used by tools such as ARD.  If you have not done so, you need a license to distribute Flash Player within your organization.  You will then receive an email with the URL to visit to download the installation file of.  Please see Adobe Flash Player Distribution. Adobe for more information on the Flash Player licenses and candidate.

    The Flash Player Administrator's Guide, http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html, contains useful information for the Flash Player deployment administrator within their organization.

  • Flash Player update continues installation stuck at 30%

    I have mac os x and I tried to install a Flash Player update. He downloaded instantly 30% and then got stuck. I tried to install several times force closing safari and ensure no antivirus or firewall blocking the update of the download. I also tried to restart my computer. Later I tried using a program to uninstall Flash Player and Flash Player then put it back in place, but the same thing happened again, stuck on 30%. I have no idea what else I could try and what is happening here. What should I do? My computer is a Macbook Air 2013 OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version

    Here is the solution! It actually works! How to perform a "clean installation" of Flash Player in Mac OS X

  • Web address of Adobe Flash Player update

    I have been asked to update Flash Player and then landed in a Web page to download the update with an address containing "get3.adobe.com". I checked the web address of the page where you can download Flash Player at first by following the link on the home page of Adobe and found that it contained "get.abobe.com". For security reasons, I wish to confirm that get3.adobe.com is an official Adobe Flash Player update site, rather than a well-disguised fraudulent page to encourage users to download malicious software.

    You can see that get3.adobe.com is on the adobe.com domain.

    You can try this document:

    Error "... plugin is not responding. Google Chrome | Debug the Flash Builder project

    For Mozilla:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/warning-unresponsive-plugin

    Also, if there is no installed on the browser toolbar, try to uninstall it from the browser and check the performance.

    If it works then well other wise, you can try the following steps:

    1. Uninstall Flash Player in Panel of--> programs (two Active X and Plugin)

    2. download uninstaller for Flash Player and Sockwave

    Flash Player Uninstaller

    Shockwave Player Uninstaller

    3. run the uninstaller for each of them.

    4 delete the file Flash starting from the following locations:

    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

    5. download Flash Player

    http://download.Macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player _ 15_plugin.exe

    Download both and install it.

    6. Download Shockwave Flash:

    You must open this link in Firefox and download the full installer after choosing the operating system and then open the same link in Internet Explorer and download the full installer after choosing the operating system.

  • I have a MacBook Pro. I can't install the Flash Player updates. Help!

    I can't install the Flash Player updates.  Every time I try, I get an error message that says that the installation will not be interrupted; until I closed Safari.  Well, when I left Safari, then press Retry. I get an error message indicating that installation cannot arrive at this time.  I don't want my exposed computer, due to having an outdated version.  I need help.

    You must close the Safari, not only the window of the browser process.

    If you do not know how to restart your Mac and then run the installation program downloaded before anything else.
