iMovie launches or force quit

iMac (late 2009) 10.10.5 version of iMovie 08

Just tried to open iMovie, since the upgrade to Yosemite, and it would not launch.

The icon on the Dock dance and the wheel has turned for a very long time.

Icon in the Dock offers an option forced to leave, what has not worked.

I tried Finder and still no go.

I couldn't find evidence in the activity monitor that it is active or does not, and nothing came when I typed in iMovie.

Said Mac iMovie did not leave and therefore would not restart.

Should I uninstall and if so, how?

Obviously, I should update to the latest version, but I was comfortable on the old version.

Still, I have to kill this zombie app, before I can do anything...

I had to make a hard stop smoking and to uninstall with a third-party application.

Now, I have to decide what to replace it with.

I am so happy, it's gone, what problem an app

  • Lightroom does not import or close without force quit

Was launched last night when Lightroom began to import my images to a snail's pace: after 5 hours only 117 images were imported.  I closed Lightroom, restarted the computer and tried to import again.  After 9 hours only 11 photos have been imported (and no, my computer will not sleep during this time).  Now Lightroom doesn't quit when prompted.  I have to force quit the program.  I've updated to Lightroom again attempted importation.  Thirty minutes later, not a single picture was imported; the progress bar says "copy and import photos" and shows the progress of 2/3.  This is the same behavior as before the update.  And I have to force quit Lightroom to shut down. Help.

You have a very old version of LR. It's now at 2015.7. Update your installation and testing.

  • IPhoto library is locked and 'force quit' or restarting solves the problem. Any ideas?

iPhoto has error message: library is locked. clicking on repair or force quit or restart has not resolved. How can I get the app to restart?

Can you give us the exact error message? Generally, the most common one said something on a disclock. Is your library on an external? If so, what format is it?

    Also, what version of iPhoto?

Assuming that is not on an external, try to download iPhoto Library Manager and use the rebuild feature. (In early versions of the Library Manager, this is the file-> control Rebuild. In versions later it is under the menu library.)

This will create a completely new library. It will then copy (or try) your photos and all associated metadata and versions to this library and as close as possible to what you had in the damaged library fix it. It does this based on the information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but it means that things not shared won't be there, so no slide shows, books or calendars, for example - but it should recover all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places.

Because this process creates a completely new library and does not change your old, it is non-destructive, and if you are not satisfied with the result, you can simply go back to your old.

  • Why the latest version of Firefox freeze and require a Force Quit?

I use a MacBook Air, processor 1.8 GHz, 4 GB memory, OS X v10.9 (Mavericks) and Firefox v25.0.

9 out of 10 times when I close Firefox, it freezes and I have to do a Force Quit. Without rhyme or reason, ab 1 out of 10 times it closes as it should without a problem. This issue arose as a result of the latest update of Firefox.

NOTE: I had been using OS X Mavericks with Firefox without any problems before the latest update of Firefox, so I don't think it's the Mavericks is the problem.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

It is most likely a problem of Add on.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
    • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

The report please come back shortly.
