Flashing BIOS R830 Satellite on the Satellite R630

I have a version of Bios R830 - 1GZ 3.70 THIS Version 1.50
And also a R630 - 138 BIOS version 2.20 THIS Version 1.60 (this is the most up to date for this discontinued model version).

The elders will recognize my WD Storage for what it is--it is an external HARD drive. And the boot in the bios shows below the HARD drive priority internal - that is what you expect for a correct operation.

The last (R630) will always attempt to boot from storage of WD. It does not show the WD HARD drive in the list of Bios Boot priority.

I can't continue to disconnect and reconnect the USB in the R630 - but it's a nuisance. I don't know that the problem down to the BIOS is not quite new. What would be the likely result of the turn signals version 3.70 - designed for the R830, on the R630?

I expect to be told that he will make the inoperable R630. These laptops are very similar, so I hope someone might have a more promising response.

Thanks for your help

First of all:
You can download only from the page driver BIOS Toshiba UE Toshiba victory.
This means that you can update the BIOS only when running windows system.

Second:
It is not possible to update the BIOS R830 on the R630 since there is a protection which break the process flash because of compatibility issues.

Thirdly:
You could damage the laptop if you would try update BIOS wrong (perhaps using the traditional version of BIOS, USB version, etc.)
So it is really bad, bad idea, that

Hi all, I tried flashing my BIOS of the laptop but it always restart when it comes to flashing phase. I use the WinPhlash of + "drivers & Bios +.

    Hello!

Have you also download the good BIOS for your laptop? I want to say is designed to PSAA9E series or another update?
If you update the BIOS you must be logged in as an administrator and close all running programs.

And why you try to update the BIOS? This update should only be performed if you have problems with your laptop. It s a little bit risky because you could destroy the ROM module in the worst cases.

  • How to turn the flash on my Satellite R630 - 11L cards

    Hello

I stopped fn in windows Task Manager, but I don't know how... When I press the fn has nothing.
How can activate the FN in windows Task Manager?

I tried to load value added baskets again, but nothing has changed.

If you use original preinstalled OS, you can restart flash cards:
Start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > restart Flash cards.
    > I tried to load value added baskets again, but nothing has changed.
That is a little strange. When you remove the VAP system and install the latest version of the Toshiba download page everything should work properly again.

Check please the settings in the system setup options and don't forget Toshiba Flash cards are enabled it.

  • Flash BIOS on Satellite A215

I have a Satellite A215-S7444 originally shipped with Vista 32 bit, I have since made a custom installation of Se7en 64-bit. There is a problem of coming put fashion 'sleep' audio device disappears. OK, so there is an update of the Bios for my model that is supposed to fix this problem.

If I remember well in the forums someone had posted "to not start from inside windows or u might completely bork your system." I have dl. The Bios updated and created a "bootable CD" according to the instructions using windows disc image burner, but as far as I went.

I would therefore like to some someone to write instructions step by step for me on how SUCCESSFULLY Flash my Bios. As much, I know you must press F12 during startup, and then select the "Startup" tab, and then select Boot from disc. "Then you need to select"Save and Exit with changes"or something of the sort. And then restart. Is this correct or am I missing a step? I know that there is a SINGLE shot that if I want to get it's okay. Has anyone else successfully flashed the Bios?

Thank you for all the useful information.

    Hello

I agree with the user above. Make sure that you have downloaded the correct BIOS update. Otherwise you may destroy the ROM module

If you update the BIOS from a bootable floppy, you don t have the stress with running programs. Just start the update and don t stop the laptop during this procedure and hope that everything will work! ;)

  • Need for a disk to boot flash BIOS for Satellite P100-240

I need to Flash my Satellite P100-240 on a bootable CD.
The BIOS only I can find on this site must be run from windows.
I have seen BIOS 4.40 for P100 on another Toshiba sites, for example:

    http://askiris.Toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2115 524xml & sliceId = & dialogid = 56504155 & stateId = 0% 200% 56506013 20

But do not know if it is appropriate for P100-240.
They seem to be named completely differently. Not sure if that's a thing based country.

The BIOS in the mentioned link will be allowed to run on my p100-240?

Your laptop is NOT American series but the European series and you must use the BIOS from the European driver Toshiba page!
The incorrect BIOS may damage the BIOS ROM of portable module! And this would lead to the point where you wouldn t be able to boot the machine!
This is why you should ALWAYS use the BIOS designed for this series of laptop!

In addition, you won't find updates of the traditional BIOS on Toshiba page!
There are only updates to the BIOS windows-based and you can update ONLY run under windows.

If the notebook WHAT BIOS s cannot be updated to the Windows operating system, then you must contact the Toshiba technician and must ask for help!

    That's all you can do

  • Question about BIOS for Satellite Pro A10 files

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 and later yesterday, he won't, he past the TOSHIBA start screen and then black with a flashing cursor, it didn't leave me in advanced settings or the settings of the BIOS, a friend told me I need to Flash BIOS, I came across the site and found only a BIOS update and management told me to use the floppy drive , he said when I unzip the file I get an .exe file which I opened and it will give me three files, one for the CD ROM, one for the floppy drive and the third I don't remember, but it didn't happen, when I unzipped the files in a temporary folder, but I never had the files.

I think I had to have it on my own laptop, and then it would be extracted properly, because my laptop does not work I can't do and even if I put the files on a disk, they are too big.

    Then...

Where can I get the files from the BIOS that I can put on a floppy disk and then I can boot from that disk and it will fix the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

    OK, follow these steps:

Burn the file bios to CD on a CD, boot from it and update your bios. It's a simple and easy way. I Don t understand why it shouldn´t work, given that I ve updated my bios in the same way. I burned the image to CD and booted from this CD.

Please answer perhaps you just made a mistake when you think to (I sometimes do too much, not often, but it happens..)  :)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite R830: How do the BIOS settings password protected?

    Hi all

I installed a software protection against theft in my Satellite R830, but he suggested that I adjust the settings in the BIOS so that it will start only from the hard drive, and to make sure that no one else can modify it (if it is stolen), the BIOS settings are protected by Word.

Can someone tell me how to access the BIOS at startup settings upward?

    Hello

You can set the BIOS settings by setting the BIOS password.
If someone would like to change the BIOS settings, the password of the BIOS would be necessary.

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on Satellite L500 due to low battery

    Hey all,.

Obtained as Satellite L500 (PSLS0A-084002) here. I have the battery not charging issue and everything what I find point to an update of the BIOS.

Of course, there is a new BIOS for download from the drivers of laptops. So I have the file WinPhlash "sl500 (mv) _bios_w210.exe. However, by running the fact falling before flashing the BIOS with an error number: 144.

It is because of the battery is bellow 10% charge however I can't it above 10 percent fee that the laptop does not recognize it.

There must be a way of to WinPhlash running without check. I read that you can run it with the "/ forceit" switch and who will be ignoring the error, but that was for some time and it seems WinPhlash have changed this as she always spits the error.

I read running back help but after creating a boot cd back, he claims the exe cannot be run from BACK (ffffuuuuuuuu!).

Any help appreciated. Thank you =).

Maybe it sounds silly now but there at - it something serious, why you want to update the BIOS on your machine? I mean if everything is OK, why do you need new BIOS?

In any case, I'm don't know if this will help but please try to remove the battery and check if the update of the BIOS starts if your laptop works on AC only.

  • Satellite R630 - second HDD recognized as optical drive in the BIOS

I own a Toshiba R630 and recently replaced the original disc with a Crucial SSDS with improved performance. I use the old Hitachi drive in an external enclosure via eSATA trouble-free port, but this configuration requires both port eSata/USB combo and a second USB just for power, so I bought a cart of 9.5 mm to put the disc on DVD rentals.

Today I went ahead. Physically, everything goes well (apart from the fact that I had to remove the back cover, more than 25 screws; I took the opportunity to clean the fan) but when I turned on the computer and BIOS the Hitachi drive is recognized as an optical drive!

You can see an image here:

After that I could get into Windows 7 (64), disk management recognizes it as a disk, but is unable to initialize. After restarting the computer, I can't get Windows anymore, because it directly goes to the recovery mode.

Any help would be appreciated! Is it possible to do the BIOS to recognize the second disk as a hard drive?

    Carlos

+ The message was edited: faulty link has been removed.

First I would recommend you to check the boot device order.
No doubt the STRANGE was set first boot device and portable tries to boot from the HARD drive that is connected to the controller of the STRANGE.
If this does not work, delete the old HDD Hitachi, reset the default BIOS and try to start once more.

To be honest I'm not quite sure if the BIOS would support such configuration Mr. I mean not all laptops can be upgraded with a 2nd HDD and in many cases, the BIOS would bear not the HDD installed in the ODD Bay so this configuration can cause problems.

  • How can I "downgrade" the BIOS on Satellite Pro P100 - 160 (PSPAE)

I have just flashed the BIOS on my Satellite Pro P100 4.8.

The CPU runs at 100%. (90% + for windows explore)

Only a single core is recognized by my Vista gadget.

    85 CPU temperature

How can I "downgrade" the BIOS? Where are the older versions?

When the new BIOS version is available to download older versions are not available more.

  • Satellite R630 Bios password suddenly failing!

I have a Satellite R630 since October 2010 and already I had to reinstall Windows 7 due to fun with the OS and various issues, which some will find to bloat ware as Toshiba have packed and some who are with the OS (what a surprise).
But somethings are to do with the laptop, a space key, which does not always work (esp on the right side) is the least of my problems today.

With no apparent guest today he asked a supervisor bios password.
The password that I set, failed. Its reboot then cancelled by asking me the password for the user. But it has not yet.
I tried all bios passwords I can think, I even plugged in to an external keyboard.
    Nothing, I'm locked out.

Worse still, when I search on the internet I find that it is not such a rare "feature" of the Bios Toshiba. Is this a case that I need to send it in, or you can access the battery on this model?
Everyone had it / found a solution?

    Hey,.

I searched a bit here in the forum and I couldn't t found these similar topics so it doesn t seem to
    be a common problem.

Fact is if you forgot the password you can t remove yourself. This is possible only from an authorized service provider. So in my opinion, you must contact the guys to get rid of the password.
I m guys are going to help you :)

  • Satellite R630 - fan runs all the time

    Hello everyone,

I have a Satellite R630, and I'm happy with it. But there is one thing that makes me angry... the fan! It runs ALL the time. I browse a little... the fan works. I work with the office, or something... the fan works. To clarify: the CPU is not used, there is no heavy processes running, and the Notebook\CPU is cool. There is no reason why the fan should work, all the laptops that I had before where calm in the same situations. Of course it is not a problem if it starts working if necessary (a game, looking for a HD video or something). But not without reason!

Someone at - it a solution for this problem? A tool to fix the fan speed\intervals manually, or better: an update of the bios (in the version 1.4 and 1.5 I can choose what I want... the fan did not stop execution). It is also quiet in Linux or any other operating system.

@Toshiba: (!) Please do something. The only solution for me right now is to return the laptop to the store. :-(

    Best regards
    Imk82

    Hello

Hmm... If you have already installed the latest BIOS updates, you should check the cooling of Windows Power management settings. Generally you can switch between different methods of cooling as you can read here:

  • Satellite R630 - 11L - sometimes did not recognize the SSD drive

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite R630 - 11L and I just bought a Corsair F120 SSD for her, but my laptop a few times did not recognize the SSD drive and fails to start occurs. I searched on the Internet concerning the issue, but there are any topic related to my problem. in recent days, I have updated my bios but the problem remains. for example if I put the computer to sleep and he never wake ups as it should be. the blue windows screen 7 failure comes and an error message 'could not access the windows volume. If portable succesful started without problem occurs until I reeboot the computer. so most of the time I have to restart computer about 5 - 6 times to work normal. At the same time, I opened a topic on the corsair website. They told me to test my drive on another computer, so I test it on laptops, dell and hp to my friends, but there is no any problem don't like this.

So I test my ssd on an another toshiba laptop R630 which has a different hardware configurations, the problem remains that laptop too...

So I think toshiba may provide a bios update to fix this problem. This laptop really great, so I don't want to buy another.

y at - it advice to solve this problem?

    concerning

    Hi machka,.

    > I think that here is the toshiba support forum. is not here?
Here he s a Toshiba forum, that of right, but you can only chat with normal users like you and me. You will not find someone from Toshiba here.
The forum is provided Toshiba but for Toshiba users to exchange experience on different products.

So I think that the Quad is just. No one can say that every SSD is compatible with all computers. You need to understand this!
There are hundreds of different players and computers on the market and I m sure that no one can test a new computer with all SSD on the market. This is not possible, because it takes a lot of time and more expensive laptops that I think.

So if the SSD doesn't work, there is nothing that you can wait for the BIOS update.
Otherwise, you must purchase another SSD. Alternatively, you can ask a service provider allowed in your country, maybe that technicians have already experience with some SSD in Satellite R630. Just ask for that, they are the first contact for you! :)
