Flex and Flash

-What are the differences between flex builder and flash builder?

-can we build on flash builder flex application?

If Yes, what is the use of flex builder so...?

Adobe has released Flex 4.0 (Gumbo code named) and Flex 4 development environment is called Adobe Flash Builder, formerly Adobe Flex Builder.

so do not confuse in flex builder and flash builder... they are just different versions of the same thing.

You can learn more about this in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flex .

and of course, you can create a flex application in flash builder.

It could be that useful...

If so can you give me the reference material action script in flex?

ActionScript is the same in flash & flex. Think that flex is a framework actionscript for the flash player.

  • Problem of Flex and Flash SWF files

I decided to create a validation more because my previous error is much wider than expected-

First, there are the problems with race SWF files created from the Flash IDE and loading in Flex? I have a swf swf file which works fine if I run it in the Flash IDE, the browser, the office, even in another projector file inside the Flash IDE, but as soon as I load it in Flex I start receiving errors about the flash drawing API. These include but are not limited to: drawPath GraphicsPathWinding drawTriangles, . I'm new to Flex so maybe I'm missing something? I understand that the swf could work anywhere else, if I loaded into Flex that would work in the same way... This also makes me hesitate using Flex, because there are some widgets that I prefer to create in the Flash IDE and then load them into Flex, but if everything is not compatible between the two so I'll just create everything in the IDE Flash.

Which version of the Flex SDK are you using? What version of the Flash IDE are you using?

I guess that if you are going to export your .swf to FP 9 and AS3, errors will disappear.

  • code conversion from Flex to Flash Builder 4

I have a code that has been created in a primitive version of Flex that I am trying to bring in Flash Builder 4. The project will not build. There seems to be a problem with some the MXML.

I am well known in ActionScript 3.0, well that is just beginning to work with Flex and Flash Builder framework, so the MXML is still not clear to me.

Flash shows Builder an error on this line:

... error stating: "'local' prefix for the element" local: GeocentricView "is not related."

Glimpses of what the problem and the solution is?

You must add the local namespace in your MXML. Do the same with components

    xmlns:components = "components. " "--> xmlns:local ="com.yourpathtotheview."

  • Flex and its future

After that I spent almost three years to design an application (Flex and Air), my developer are now telling me that Flex as a language is dying and that I should consider a re - write using HTML and Java.

My investment was considerable, so it was a shock for me - especially since I'm close to launch the application on the desktop and smartphone.

Someone in this community reassure can me (or confirm), or maybe give me an idea. The application in question is very sophisticated and a rewrite just seems like a lot of work. I mean, who really knows what is the future of software in languages, it seems to change on a six pence.

I would be grateful if someone could perhaps look at the app, give me an idea.

Thank you very much (I'll post the link if anyone wants to watch the app).

Where the hell were you, wordtapper? This kind of question/discussion has come the forums for a while.

If the application works and is usable on the target platforms, then I'd go with it, BUT keep in mind that the long term future of flex as a programming language is very much in the balance. Adobe has little interest in it and the platform it runs on (Flash runtime) is not viable on Apple Mobile products in the browser and run on other mobile browsers in the long term.

who really knows what is the future of software in languages, it seems to change on a six pence.

Quite right, but it has not been filled since Mobile really took off and changed the whole game plan, so the tech world is rapidly changing.

If you are close to launch, personally I go ahead with Flex and then look at your options if the application takes off. Better to re-think, if necessary with a successful delaying application there and gamble that this restructuring will be useful.

If your application runs in the browser and mobile target, I'd be nervous.

  • I can not compile for iOS more with Flex and AIR 3.8

    Hello team Adobe and others.

I use for my business framework 4.10 Apache projects Flex and adobe Air 3.8.

I always had problems to compile and publish iOS apps (with Air 3.5 front), but with AIR 3.8, it was a miracle, I compile my projects without error on Windows... until today.

I am running this command in DOS to compile my project:

And I get this result after 1 hour of compilation:

If you want, I can send you my file bin-release-temp and DONKEY to try for yourself, but I need to private messaging, because I don't want to publish my project private to everyone.

  • Starling and Flash CS5.5

This question weighs more on the side flash that I try that it works with Flash CS 5.5. and installed the extension update for flash may publish in the reader to version 11. I have all the libraries and files referenced properly, however when I play in the browser, Internet explorer 8 with flash player 11.6, nothing appears. I did some research which highlights the fact that it should work. Also, I get a compilation error:

RenderSupport.as, line 421 1046: Type was not found or is not a compilation constant: Program3D.

in further research, told me disreguard this error and the game in the web browser that you were not able to play in the lightning because of reading being an outdated version. If there is no one here who has experience dealing with Starling and flash, and reasons that could explain why it can be not appearing correctly?

NOTE: I built the same project in FlashBuilder 4.7 and works very well. Just having problem on Flash conversion. I checked and saw that it is possible to do with Flash, its just something im missing.

You will have a better chance to find a solution on the forums of the Starling

You're saying that there could be two probems:

    1. your project uses flex only classes (which are not available in flash)

    2. you missed sth. When upgrading flash cs 5.5 for fp11-Publishing (installation of the extension is not enough)

  • Applications created using Flex and their response time

    Hello

I observe that Flex front-end Applications are very slow to be honest same Adobe site itself is slow .

Please tell me what should be the size of a swf file so that the time which will be at least satisfactory.

I don't think that every piece of the Flash on the site of Adobe's Flex and there is

still a lot of HTML code on the site as well.

You build an application, and the basic principles still apply. Less

code runs faster, the modularity allows to make to the code on demand, throw

things you don't need. Allows you to run a really small SWF file wrong and really

bigger may well perform after the start. It's all in how you write

    it.

  • WebService, actionscript 3 and flash

    Hello

a simple question: is it possible to use the webservice with actionscript 3.0 and flash?

I know it's possible with actionscript 2.0 and actionscript 3.0 with flex, but in flash...

    Thank you

I tried today with your tutorial and get the temperature, so that it works. Great!
The previous error was probably due to the webservice binding that is not valid or overloaded.

    Thanks David!

  • Upload file multiple with Flex and ColdFusion problem

    Hi all

I'm trying to resize images after download using the "multiple".
    Upload with Flex and ColdFusion"to

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/multifile_upload.html

In fact, everyone has a script that resizes the images successfully
After the download of the images with this method?

The reason why I ask is that I can't work properly, I tried
all I can think and ended up with the code below. Which
resizes the images, but does not delete the original file. The error
    who gets dumped is:

"ColdFusion could not remove the file C:\ColdFusion8\wwwroot.
    \MultiFileUpload\uploadedfiles\0040.jpg for a
    unknown reason. »

That does not really help. So I try to delete the original files
manually, but windows will not let me also and wrote its been used by an application.
If I download files over that I can then delete the original files
    the previous download.

To me, it seems that the flash drive is not release the file

Any help would be greatly appretiated.

    Richard

Do you have applied the latest patches? There was a problem with locked files after using imageResize.

  • Flex & amp; Flash Lite

Is it possible to develop a single Flex for web and mobile application? Or development for Flash Lite requires a recompilation of my Flex application to the web with a Flash Lite compiler?

I hope that my question was clear, from the India English isn't my first language. Thank you

    -Sri

Flex 2 requires the Flash Player 9.
Flash Lite 3 (current Version) only supports most Flash 8 content.

    If the answer is simple:
No, you can´t to develop a single Flex application for both because didn t of Flash Lite 3 supports Flex 2 and Flash 9 content.

  • Flex and ColdFusion on shared server

    Good afternoon everyone,

So I, like many here I guess, use CF for quite awhile now and I am very interested in what Flex can do. I used the CF adapter several times now with great success on my LOCAL Dev machine, but when I download on my web server (hosted by the My Site host), it does not work. Instead, it throws an error springing from the somrthing on a flexgateway.

So what I was hoping that someone could tell me my host does not support or is at - it something I don't in my setting up a Flex project I have to do? I had the impression to run a simple Flex application, you didn't need something special at the end server except the flash player 9.

When I use Flex and CF adapter I just follow the steps to create what I need. I do not use the part "login" so I uncheck this option. Except that I use all the default settings.

And in regards to my host, I have another Flex application up, which works perfectly, but it uses no CFCS to fill in the data of a database as I am doing now.

I searched for many hours a lot now for a simple question answer with no luck.

Here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I see. So I think between you and your host that they provide you with a URL string of some sort that you have placed in the crossdomain.xml on your roots.

    Something like this maybe:

And the crossdomain.xml file is on the root of your web or in the bin folder?

  • I've updated to 41.0 FF and Flash 19; Firefox no longers is asking to activate the Flash, despite telling me to do.

Previously, I was asked to leave Flash to run in all cases; now it works selectively (as on the Adobe website, but NOT on Youtube). This means that on Youtube (and many other sites), Flash runs without my allowing him to do so. THE BAD!

    )

For most Firefox users, YouTube is no longer using the Flash and instead uses a HTML5 video player. Here's how to check that:

Right click on the drive, and you should get a popup to short. The last line of the menu short should indicate if the HTML5 player or Flash Player. If you get the regular Firefox context menu, press and release the ALT key to erase that side of YouTube menu.

HTML5? Here are a few workarounds to regain control:

    (1) use the extension Flash Control to stop HTML5 video (and Flash video) AutoPlay

    (2) YouTube forces use Flash instead of HTML5. There are a few modules for this. Either of them will do, you don't need both:

I heard that these don't work for YouTube integrated on other sites.

    Any improvement?

  • Plug in container and Flash crashing issue

    Finally Flash started working... partly.

    Using Firefox Windows 8.1 36.0.4

I say "Partly" because Pages that I use I have to refresh the page 3-7, until he catches and Flash decided to work.

So, I did some work to see what and has my Windows Task Manager up and I was wondering why the process mixed around when I reloaded the page where the flash crashed and was not able to load as soon as page came.

So, I noticed in Task Manager too a Windows Reporting problem blown up when Flash crashed (has not loaded)
So I said there must be a file of reason why it crashed. So I went to start > computer (right Clicked) manage > computer management open on the left side you click on event viewer

I hope that these screenshots can help to see why Flash crashes.

I also did a dump file plug-in container to and it is big enough 203 170 MB after I got flash to work by refreshing the page several times.

BEX typcally indicate an injection of process attempt software and can be a sign of malware.

In addition, if the EXE launches when you play Flash media in Firefox, then you don't successfully disable not the Protected Mode feature as I suggested in response to your post earlier this week: why is Adobe deliberately hate Firefox? When Protected Mode is disabled, the DLL will launch inside the plugin - container.exe, and you won't see Flash EXE process gave birth to the outside.
