  I ran an explain on a SQL and it indicates the cost of the query to be 20 k, but when I run the query it will running forever (I killed him after 30 minutes). I have an another SQL which cost shows up even 20 K and it ends with a 10secs.

  If you're on 11g, use the SQL monitor, it will answer all your questions.

  If you're not, look at V$ SESSION_LONGOPS, if there is no current longops associated with this request, try to look carefully at the db file sequential reads - watch the parameters of this event and discover what index is playing. Then look at the stats index and table for this index see if they updated and representative and look at the query predicates and estimates of cardinality for this part of the request.

  Is there a way to track project progress in Captivate 2 (or 3)? When I use Lectora, I create variables and actions that indicate if a particular section was compressed, accessible but not completed or completed.   When you run a job, if you do not specify a task name, then it will generate one for you. In your case, I don't see a name of the specified job, it seems that one would be generated. The generated name looks like:

  SYS_IMPORT_FULL_01 if a plenty to do

  SYS_IMPROT_TRANSPORTABLE_01 if you are using the transportable tablespace.

  There are a couple of other possibilities.

  You can use Start-Job and parallel tasks in the workflow.

  You could launch the Move-VM with the RunAsync switch, which will not wait the way script wait for the svMotion.

  But you will probably hit some limitations of vSphere on the maximum number of authorized svMotions.

  Simply by looking at the status of the powershell jobs (regardless of the method chosen to use), is not very conclusive (because of the maximum vSphere).

  You can query tasks in vSphere, and question the percentage of completion from there (if available).
