For addresses gmail master password must be entered for each address

Thunderbirtd 38.1.0
I have 3 gmail addresses, both yahoo and a gmx.
Function of Yahoo and gmx normally using master password, but Gmail requires the master password for each gmail account.
So I have to enter the password four times.

What the master password set up a pop up appears for each address gmail asking me to accept Thunderbird. I accept.

I note that gmail passwords are encrypted in the list of saved passwords Thunderbird.

This add-on seems to have security problems and other problems

What security issues?
Currently, the add-on is your best bet to deal with the password multiple pushes issue.
It is of course entirely for you to use it or not.

  • Thunderbird 38.0.1 requires the master password to be entered twice after activation of Gmail OAuth

I have a Gmail (IMAP) and an iCloud (IMAP) TB account protected by a master password. Since the upgrade to to 38.0.1 and the configuration of the acct of Gmail for OAuth I find that when I run the application of TB he invites me for the password twice before that I can move forward. I tried to remove the iCloud acct and then he needed only the password entered once, but as soon as I have readded the iCloud acct invites more twice once for the password. It seems that you must now enter once for each account e-mail instead of after the period. It seems to be triggered by changing the Gmail to OAuth as previously he worked as documented (a single master password entry) with two e-mail accounts.

In fact, when launching first TB appears very briefly the form of drop down menu of master password and then immediately disappears (before), because then he slide down again to allow the first entry in the master password.

Good news - updated my Mac to 38.1 TB newly released solved the problem of the Thunderbird menu corrupted when you use StartupMaster 1.6.1.

Now I can use StartupMaster successfully to bypass the password multiple guest problem (bug #177175) at the launch of Thunderbird.

  • I've set up a master password and for some reason its not recognize and cannot enter the e-mail and job site. I tried to delete it, but can not. Help

I tried to take out additional coverage on the internet with a master password. Unfortunately what I typed to the origin is not excluded or recognized. This causes me a major problem due to one of the sites I use for work being blocked, as well as my original e-mail. How can I solve this problem? I tried to turn it off, but it requires the correct password and it does not work. Don't know what happened or if I typed a wrong typo. Can you help me on your end?

Firefox master password feature protects your saved passwords. However, even if you are unable to access your saved passwords, you should be able to connect to the site manually (by typing your user name and password). Is that somehow have blocked as well?

If you have forgotten your master password, you can delete and create a new. However, I think that will also erase all your saved connections and you will save them again. More information on this: reset your master password if you forget.

If the problem is not with the Firefox built-in password manager but another (add-on, the external program), then steps would be different, but they depend on what you use.

  • I have the two Master Sync activated WITHOUT be asked for master password said at the start of the session and password?

The basic question is that whenever I start Firefox, I am invited, a few seconds later, my master password, regardless of if I will actually connect a site for which I saved my credentials.
This same number as well as a replica of his original poster chosen as the best answer has been published on the following link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1039575

I'm in the same situation as this poster, but I don't want to turn off sync. I need the master password set to protect my passwords stored, and I need the Sync feature enabled to share my profile between different computers that I use.
If I close the master password prompt at the start of the session and then I go to a page that I recorded the password, I should I get prompted again, and that's all I need. Also, I've installed Sync do NOT share my passwords stored, where the master password invite so that the effect is useless in my case.

So the question is simply how can I turn off the prompt for password at startup, have it pop up when you access a site that needs a password stored (or ask if I want to save a) and keep the clock running without sharing passwords.

    Thanks in advance.

    No, this is not possible.
Sync must retrieve the journal of authentication data in password manager and which requires to enter the password to unlock the password.

The synchronization used in Firefox 34 version then use password manager to store the name (e-mail) and password to use to connect to the synchronization server.
The chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Password Manager stores (kA and kB) credentials in JSON format.
Earlier versions of Firefox used to store these data in the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder, but the current version only stores the sessionToken in this file and must the Manager password for the credentials of the synchronization.

  • Master password in Firefox using Gmail

I use Gmail first enter in my browser. My system WON'T ask me my 'master' password when I get to it. I think that my safety is compromised even if I use a regular password to access my gmail account. It is only when I open another point, like "Facebook" that I am prompted for the password. My gmail account, I can go on several Internet sites, for example, lists of TV Guide, Fox News, my two local news sites, even my weather site. Why are they not affected, but Facebook is? How can I get my main password to affect these other links of Gmail so that my security system is not compromised even using Kaspersky Internet Security with Firewall in place.

I finally found the solution for this, and my problem was a misleading title in FIrefox. (I'm on Mac OX) This is in Firefox > Preferences > privacy, under the heading of history, there is a choice that says "use the custom settings for history". Unfortunately, I forgot it because I was looking for "Cookies" and do not think that the story was the same. Once I finally chose the choice custom history, a set of options of Cookies appeared. This has had the settings that I was looking for and was finally able to get Firefox to ask my master password BEFORE you sign in to Gmail.

The password protects any password account that you told Thunderbird to remember.
Since you get the master password prompt, obviously set you a master password at one point.
    More information in this article.

It is possible to reset the password, which would also be possible to erase your account passwords.

  • The function of master password automatically enter other sites usernames and passwords when you access these sites, or that they are always manually?

Master password enter usernames and passwords automatically, or should the user still manually enter this info?

Yes, after you set a master password, you will be asked to enter when Firefox needs to access your stored passwords. It will "unlock" the usernames and passwords you have saved and Firefox will automatically added automatically in for you when you navigate from site to site.

When you are finished using the web, you can exit Firefox to "lock" your usernames and passwords.

  • Master password does not. All I have to do is click on Cancel when it asks for the password and I go directly to the site.

When he asks that I get the password, it is not necessary. All I have to do is click on cancel
or the X and I quickly go to the site I want.

Hi moentby1, I think we all say the same thing. The password has nothing to do with the use of Firefox or visit sites. He is using the Firefox Password Manager feature.

If you don't want to use Firefox password manager, you can stop getting prompted to enter your master password by making a change in the Options dialog box.

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > Security

Uncheck "Remember passwords for sites". And then click OK.

  • When I go on a site that requires a connection and automatically logged, I always get invited by the Office security software for master password. New w/Firefox 24.

If I go to a Web site that requires a login and a password, and I have it configured to automatically sign in, I am automatically logged (he remembers username and password for this site), but the command prompt of the security apparatus of software for my master password appears. I can cancel the prompt and it goes, but it should not appear because I am already connected. This problem started to happen after I downloaded Firefox 24 yesterday.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

Note that Firefox Sync also need to enter the master password.

  • I've never set up a master password for firefox. Somehow the browser locked mode, now and request a master password. How can I get it to unlock?

There is no URL line, that anything can be taken.

Also, I have reinstalled the program as well. No change. Always default to a request for a password THAT I HAVE EVER CREATED.

Full disclosure: I reached to reconnect cable and pressed my chest against my keyboard while the computer was in mode 'sleep', with Firefox running in background. When I was in, the browser has been locked. I tried all the passwords I know and use. No luck. Following addy won't charge, even if the entry on the home page.

    chrome://pippki/content/ResetPassword.XUL

Yet once, no url line does open, I run the browser, more. I just get the following message:

Please enter the master password for the software security device.

    Help! Thank you!

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • Migrate the site and master passwords and logins for Firefox to light

To expedite my USB mobile browser, I want Firefox v.30 a light v.30.
Only now I noticed I still signons3.txt instead of key4.db and cert8.db instead of cert9.db in the Firefox profile.
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20Profile#w_your-important-data-and-their-files Specifies not how to upgrade these versions, or some other answers, for example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/767061.

Copy of signons3.txt, signons.sqlite between profiles has not helped get my password or my master password in light.
Any thoughts why? Because I signons3.txt instead of key4.db, or because I use the master password?

Note that you can use a CMD or BAT file to set an environment variable temporarily for this start.

    Set NSS_DEFAULT_DB_TYPE = sql
Start "" "path to Firefox\firefox.exe" PEI

I noticed that SQLite files are much larger, because likely Firefox uses a minimum size to avoid problems with fragmentation as is done with all files in SQLite.

Note that Firefox is actually declining many SQLite files and replace them with the files of JSON type (extensions.json, addons.json, search.json, logins.json) to avoid the problems that SQLite gives in some cases and make it easier to keep the database in memory to boost performance.
