  Rather than put into squares colors use color chart & global colors (indicated by a white triangle at the bottom of the swatch)

  

  To apply the nuance to a point of gradient is easy. You select the point of gradient (indicated by a black triangle above the point of gradient). ALT then click a color in the Swatches palette to fill this gradient.

  You can choose the eyedropper tool, click on your document open in photoshop, and then hold down the left mouse button while you drag out of photoshop to read the colors.

  Also works when the adobe color picker dialog box open in photoshop.

  Hello. In PS CS4 and XP.

  Half of the time I use the color picker in Photoshop suddenly IE is opened using Photoshop in a separate window. I'm clicking on something? What I seem to be clicking on the box of color ranges is in the color picker. It's just very annoying. Was wondering if anyone had this problem? I thought that using Photoshop was supposed to open if you click on the Photoshop eye on the toolbar, which is not in CS4.

  It has been seen from time to time.  This may indicate corruption in the memory space of Photoshop.  If I were you, I would immediately save my work and close Photoshop if you do this.

  Some things to try to prevent it from happening:

  • Update your video driver on the web site of the manufacturer of your video card.
  • Set up the OpenGL drawing to turn off advanced drawing and vertical sync.
  • Examine your 3rd party plug-ins, delete the ones you don't need and seek versions updates to those that you use.

  Good luck to get to the bottom of this.

  I am able to set up a custom in Illustrator without any problem gradient, but I wanted to know if there is a way to use the color picker when setting your custom colors or if you are limited to a narrow bar of color (which has all the colors but feels harder to use for me)?

  Click color to change in the Panel degraded stop / palette. Then, double-click on the fill area at the bottom of your tool palette/Panel. Who should bring up the color picker and color you choose apply until stop in the gradient you had clicked.

  Alternatively, double-click the area fill with nothing selected to bring up the color picker. Choose your desired color, and then drag the color from the fill box to the Swatches palette/Panel to create a new shade. Later, with the gradient panel/palette active, you can drag samples directly on the steps of color to change your gradient.

  Whenever I select a color using the eyedropper icon small (used to be a magnifying glass) in the color picker, the cursor goes away after I made the choice of colors.

  I have that experience under El Capitan, but I had the same problem in Yosemite as well as Mavericks and on Mac computers. I've seen this behaviour being reported in the forum for older versions, such as the Mountain Lion, but never with a real solution (workaround has been on creating a new user and delete the old).

  I hope someone has a solution for now.

  The eyedropper tool worked very well for me and still does (I just checked).

  If creating a new user solves the problem then, you have some corrupted in your account settings, or, less likely, you run an application (possibly a connection point) which is the origin of the problem.

  Hold down the option key, and then use

  Finder > go > library

  menu item. You have a folder 'ColorPickers? If so, is it empty?

  Treaty to create a set of web colors using the photo shop. On the page referenced above to the article, the author says to set the base color by adding 50% white and 50% black to create new shades of colours.

  How do I do that? (add a percentage any of any color?)

  Create a new layer fill, color United, black or white, on top of your color swatch.

  Now adjust the opacity of the layer to something else as 100%.

  I'm trying to match a background color of a page in a Blurb book using the book of Lightroom 4 Module.  Is there a way that I can use the color picker to select a color in the photo to use as color for the background and the type of color?  I see the color box for these situations, but the color picker doesn't seem to work with the range of color that appears and wrong to the photo.  Any suggestions?  I forget something very obvious?

  It works for me.

  The usual way to Lightroom: click the eyedropper in the palette of colors first, then hold and drag to your photo to the color of the sample.

  I'm new to photoshop and I'm trying to change the background color.

  I clicked on the menu, "select", then "color range", "overview of the selection" gray scale selected, then clicked OK, this has highlighted the sections I wanted to change the color of black.

  I then went to the "Layer" menu then "new adjustment layer" then "hue/saturation" where I could use the slider to change the color, but I would like to change the color of a color in my library (my colors brand) or at least use a color picker to choose these colors or enter a hexadecimal value.

  Some help would be greatly appreciated, I can't find anything online to help.

  If you start a new file, the easiest way is to choose the background color immediately:

  I chose the background color, and you can type in the hexadecimal code. You can even save this preset.

  

  For a file existing, presupposed the background layer has a different solid color: change the background layer to a regular layer (must be unlocked, changing the shade of foreground (you can use the color picker), use select all to select the entire layer and use the paint bucket to fill with the foreground color.)
