  Because you can't go to your office, I suggest that you start your computer in safe MODE. Next to normal mode, it is a different way to connect to your computer and makes a few changes when the problem.

  HOW TO START YOUR COMPUTER IN SAFE MODE

  1. Restart your computer if it is running.
  2. Press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.
  3. Once you see the menu Advanced Startup Options , you can stop tapping.
  4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
  5. Select Safe Mode with network and press enter.
  6. You should see loading drivers and then Please wait.
  7. You should then be on the Welcome screen.

  Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.

  WIndows Update asks me to install Vista SP1. I did and got into the infamous infinite loop of SP1 (infinite loop ' configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0% "with Vista SP1). I used F8 to repair my computer, and I chose a restore before the SP1 update point has been installed. The restore point has been applied successfully, so I have the computer in the back. Super.   apparently a lot of people have the same problems.  Are tired of looking for the forums to help you, so far without success.  I did the following steps:

  Virtually all F8 sections... no luck
  I did finally have access to my office using the startup disk and did a system past recovery.  However two days after I stop my computer and when I started it again once I had the same problem again.  Again made the boot disk and I noticed the windows update icon in the lower right and he strove for 11%, and I can not any respones on that in law or by clicking on the left.  I'm sure that if I reboot this system its going back in the loop of udated.

  First of all, let us rename the Pending.xml file and check if it works very well.

  Use the system recovery options to rename the Pending.xml file and edit the registry:

  Start Windows Vista and go to system recovery options:

  Insert the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then restart the computer.

  When you are prompted to restart from the disc, press any key.

  When you are prompted, configure the language to install, time and currency format and keyboard or options for method of entry that you want, and then click Next.

  In the page install Windows, click on repair your computer.

  In the System Recovery Options page, click the version of the Windows Vista operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

  In the System Recovery Options page, click command prompt.

  Type cd C:\windows\winsxs, and then press ENTER.

  Type ren pending.xml pending.old, and then press ENTER.

  Type regedit and press ENTER.

  Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

  On the file menu, click on load the hive.

  Look for the following folder:

  C:\windows\system32\config\components

  When you are prompted for a name, type Offline_Components.

  In the registry editor, locate and then delete the following registry

  I desperately need help... I don't want to have to reload Vista Home Premium and all my software and get all authenticated (which total galley is the procedure!) once again. I installed the latest Java today from Java.com and everything seems to work very well. Latyer on I started the installer of my software to sync Western Digital and after that I said which files to sync to my removable drive from the hung computer. I thought that after 1/2 hour It sinply would not go anywhere, so I used Ctrl-alt-del to cancel then restarted and Western digital software.

  Now my computer is going in circles. It goes like this:

  -power on
  -beep system
  -Microsoft animation line starts
  -screen goes black
  -Orb appears
  -"Curtain" screen comes on saying:

  Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete
  Do not turn off your computer

  -system reboots

  And it just happens again and again and again. He never at my office. I tried starting with the last start of 'good', safe

  mode and I went to my vista cd and made routine repairs, but all without success.

  I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.

  Recently, my notebooks has received two vista automatic updates resulting in the message to update "configuration updates stage 3 of 3 , 0%".

  I had to restore the two notebooks.

  How can I avoid this happening again?

  The only safe way to do updates is way below (which is an elimination!) and 2 ways to uninstall them.

  Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

  1. a System Restore to before the updates:

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

  If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

  If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

  Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

  System restore steps according to the info above.

  Also:

  2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

  > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

  • I inserted the cd 'Réinstallation DVD Windows Vista', but it won't pop up any kind of prompt for me to do something with it.  I tried putting the cd in what was on the computer and tried leaving him in and restart it - but the cd has no EFFECT.
  • I used the F8 key and I tried the following with no luck: safe mode, safe mode with network, safe mode w / command prompt, enable logging, last known good configuration (Advanced) boot and debug mode.  Most of these options make the monitor off (to make you think he will do something), then it just restarts and did the thing reboot loop again and again.

  My laptop ACER Aspire 5610 in a loop of update configuration for three days now.  Don't have a Vista installation CD as provider did the installation.  Have tried all the safe mode restarts without success.  The display is still in phase 3 of 3 endless loop.  Ideas to fix/repair or recover data from disk hard 160 GB I need to keep?

  I want to thank everyone for friendly advice and assistance information.  After a few days (of frustration for me) and your continuous encouragement, I have finally overcome this "infinite loop".

  What worked for me was downloading neosmart.net for work properly CD/DVD burner.  I tried initially using my office old CD drive, but I forgot that it was a device to read-only and wouldn't be able to burn a copy of the restore CD.  I found a DVD burner work to correctly copy download neosmart.net.

  It took several boots cold on the laptop with the recovery CD as well as access 'shift F6', then quickly by "any key" for the necessary recovery menu.

  On Google, I noticed that this "configuration updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete." has been on Vista for 2008.  It is almost of 2012 and it always creates problems?

  Method 1: Please try last known good configuration boot

  (a) restart the computer.

  (b) press and hold F8 while the computer starts up, which helps you to go to the Advanced Boot Options screen.

  (c) use the arrow keys to highlight and select the last well known configurations and press ENTER.

  This mode will take the last point restart managed computer that helps your computer to boot to the desktop.

  Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

• Have Windows Vista on laptop. Windows does not... message is received. "Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete" and then nothing

  Windows Vista will not charge in my laptop.  Receiver of message, "Configuration of update: stage 3 3-0% complete" and "do npot disable competitor."

  This message stays on 2-3 minutes then disappears and screen becomes white., after a few minutes more the restart process restarts and crosses th same process again, again and again.  Ant suggestions?

  Try the following and see if it helps.

   

  Method 1:

  Rename the Pending.xml file, and then change the registry.

  
  Note: serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.   To rename the Pending.xml file, and edit the registry, follow these steps.

  
  (A) start Windows Vista and go to system recovery options:

  1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disk into the disk drive and restart the computer.

  2. When you are prompted to restart from the disc, press any key.

  3. When you are prompted, configure the language to install, time and currency format and keyboard or options for method of entry that you want, and then click Next.

  4. on the page to install Windows, click on repair your computer.

  5. on the System Recovery Options page, click the version of the Windows Vista operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

  B) use the system recovery options to rename the Pending.xml file and edit the registry:

  1. in the System Recovery Options page, click command prompt.

  2 type cd C:\windows\winsxs, and then press ENTER.

  3 type ren pending.xml pending.old, and then press ENTER.

  4. type regedit and press ENTER.

  5. select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

  6. on the file menu, click on load the hive.

  7. look for the following folder:

  C:\windows\system32\config\components

  8. When you are prompted for a name, type Offline_Components.

  9. in the registry editor, find and delete the following registry subkey:

  HLKM\Offline Components\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving

  HKLM\Offline Components\PendingXmlIdentifier

  C) exit the Registry Editor:

  1. at the command prompt, type exit to quit the registry editor.

  2. press ENTER.

  3. click on restart.

  Error: Failed to setup of the Windows updates. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer when you try to install Windows updates

  Notes:

  Before you perform the upgrade on the spot, I would recommend you to back your files using windows backup.

  When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
