Function "Close right tabs" disappeared

I've recently updated to Firefox 24 and one of the new features I noticed immediately was "Close tabs to the right".

Today, when the opportunity arose for me to use Finally, I discovered that it was missing from the context menu. He has simply disappeared.

It is certainly after I've been updated! What happened to him?

I know I have TabMixPlus add-on installed, but I got the updating to FF24 as well, and the feature was there at the beginning, so I think it is unlikely that the add-on has suddenly decided to randomly get rid of it.

Other than I see no other reason for his disappearance.

Help, please!

Thank you!

PS - I know I can get this feature back by installing an add-on, but I prefer not to clutter my FF with unnecessary modules if the feature is already built into the browser.

Your installation of Firefox seems to be pretty crowded already. I suspect that one of your modules can have hidden this menu item.

I suspect Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.1.01 as the first culprit to investigate. Turn it off and see if this menu item is displayed again.

  • Where the option close multiple tabs? It has been a right-click in the function 'list all tabs '. Now it's gone!

Well although I figured out how to get the toolbar tab back where it should, at the bottom where easy access to him, but now I see that the option "Close all other tabs" that was in the right click menu of the arrow 'List all tabs' has disappeared.

Is there anyway to get that back? This design change is really not as good as 3.5. Also say that that person can slow down. Who can understand what it says?

    Thank you!

In Firefox 4, the tab bar is a regular toolbar and which causes the toolbar context menu show if you right-click.

You can right click on the tab that you want to keep to "close other tabs".

    Hello Silvia,.
    Sorry, you have problems.

The system to store this information seems to be a bit fragile.

When trying this please ensure you favorite whatever it is open and close the unnecessary tabs and don't let any ongoing work, initially you can lose more than just pins tabs. Once things go wrong, that several sessionstore files can be created, clear duplicate follow these instructions:

    1. See this for instructions on the profile search. Use the troubleshooting information, while Firefox is open profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile
    2. Make sure that everything is backed up or bookmark and close Firefox
    3. Remove all duplicate sessionstore.js files found in the profile. Those with a number or.bak
      As mentioned in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Multiple_sessionstore.js_files
    4. Restart Firefox, you may have lost some information i.e. pins or other tabs
    5. In the future when shutting down Firefox always use the menu option, which is from the Firefox button on a Windows machine. Do not kill the process, or close the window of final Firefox using the Windows icon at the top right.

As far as I know that there is no shortcut pre-defined for this task. You can always check for the shortcut available in this list: hotkeys - quickly perform common tasks of Firefox

However, you can set your own shortcut using this addons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/customizable-shortcuts/

  • Why you put "Open a new tab" on the right side of the browser, when you close a tab on the left and you type a new URL in the browser on the left?

I changed my computer from XP to Windows 7 and migrated my FF browsers. But... now the tabs at the top of the page are all right (they were upper-front left - where I loved her)

The most important is the "open a new tab" + - is on the right. But that is not sensible. Why you put "Open a new tab" on the extreme right of the browser, when you close a tab on the left and you type a new URL in the browser on the left?

How can I put my "open a new tab" immediately to the right of 'Close tab' - as if it was before?

    Please advise?

  • After updating firefox 31: whenever I got close a tab, instead of closing, it opens a new tab to the right

Just updated Firefox to update from 28 to 31. Now, every time I close a tab (by clicking the x to the right of the current tab), rather than close this tab, it opens another tab just to the right of the tab I'm closing. Subsequent attempts produce the same result... with a series of new tabs, building to the right of the current tab with every click. Only way to close the tabs must leave and then re - open Firefox, but the problem continues as before.

Until I can find a solution for this, I want to go back to 28 - is this possible and if so, how?

    TIA

Update: Firefox updated itself, it only is complaint not on the current versions of the Add - ons installed.

On a whim, I went to Tools/Add-ons and noticed that one point, Tab Mix Plus, indicated that there is an update available. Once this update has been installed and restarted FF, the problem no longer existed.

Problem solved by installing the 0.4.1.4 TMP!

NOTE: Maybe the FF 31.0 update process should be amended to flag Tab Mix Plus versions prior to 0.4.1.4 when it verifies the compatibility of the add-on.

  • Since the installation of 4.0.1 I can't do a right-click on the icon in my taskbar and have Firefox give me the option "close and save" tabs. Only let's me know, I'm about to close several tabs. How to make 'save & close' return?

Before installing 4.0.1 I could right click on the Firefox icon in the task bar of my computer and press on the window. He would then give me the option to "save the tabs and exit" or "close all tabs".
Now he comes and tells me I'm going to close several tabs.

It was convenient to be able to close Firefox and open it with all the tabs in place. There is nothing more annoying than to have several tabs lost because your computer has is an update of the day overnight and restarted. It is also useful when you want to run a tun - up or cleaner who asked that closing your browser for best results.

How to make 'save and exit' return?

    Thank you

Firefox stores now always the old session, and you can access it by going to the history menu and selecting "restore previous Session."

If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
    4. Repeat this for 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, the browser.warnOnRestart and the browser.showQuitWarning

If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:

    1. Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

  • How can I close a tab that has locked up, rather than farm the whole browser to be insensitive?

I have a bad habit of having several tabs open. If I click on a link that translates the whole browser becomes unresponsive, how do I close the tab offending rather than having to close the entire browser and losing all my tabs?

It is not a bad habit, it's normal.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to 'kill' a single tab without picking up Firefox.

A few times a week I get "not responding" when I exceed the amount of memory Firefox can use. Usually about 60-90 seconds, I can close Firefox by using the menu, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit
    • These same keys in order:Alt f x

Since the Flash plugin can also cause this problem and it is used everywhere around the web, I suggest the following to minimize potential problems with Flash in your troubleshooting:

    (1) to avoid unnecessary pain on the sites where the Flash is not really essential, try to set the Flash on Click-to-Play (Ask 'activation'). This will delay the Flash start on a page, until you approve.

To set 'Ask to activate', open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Search 'Shockwave Flash' and always change 'enable' to 'ask to activate '.

With this setting, when you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually (but not always) one of the following values: a link in a gray rectangle dark in the page or an information bar sliding between the toolbar and in the page area.

The plugin notification in the address bar icon usually resembles a little Lego block, dark gray. (If it is red, Flash must update.)

The delay in the activation of Flash can help distinguish between the problems caused on the initial page load, put in folds and script activation vs Flash/loading bar.

If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click on the notification icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can trust the site for the time being or permanently.

But some pages use Flash only for tracking or play ads, so if you do not see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification! He will just stand here in case you want to use it later.

    (2) a common cause of errors in script does not work in Windows Vista and later is the feature of mode of the Flash player plugin. This feature has the security benefits, but it seems to have serious compatibility problems on some systems. You can disable it using the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. On the right side, find 'Shockwave Flash' and click on the link for more. Then uncheck the box for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and try it for a day to see if that helps you.
