  I'm fighting to install the VMware Vcenter Converter Standalone Agent on a Windows Server 2003 source machine.  First of all, I tried to deploy the agent to the source of the Vcenter Converter Standalone (installed on a windows server 2008 R2 server), but it has just failed with a generic error. Then I tried to manually install the agent on the source machine in 2003, but toward the end of the installation it errors on "error 29190 - could not generate key for secure sockets layer (SSL) ' then cancels the installation.  I could not find a solution to the problem and I was wondering if anyone could help please?

  If it can help someone else, I found a solution to my particular problem.  on the source machine, open the window Task Manager and then worked for the manual installation of the agent of converter, you will notice at different stages of installation, you get the additional instances of msiexec.exe showing upwards, at the end of the installation when the 29190 error pops up you should have a corresponding instance of msiexec, come and finish this msiexec in the Task Manager and click ok on the error , the installation then continues rather than restores.  I was able to p2v this machine then.

  As far as I know with the FN + F11 key combination, you can activate and deactivate additional functions for buttons with the little gray signs and symbols.

• Dell inspiron 1545 function keys do not show display

  My computer Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop show more a display for my function keys for the level of volume, connection wi - fi on / off, lock shift power.  The volume on the system tray icon displays a red 'x' if I press F7.  If I press F8 - decrease the volume or the F9 - increase the volume, there is just no indication of any change in the icon and the volume didn't cange except if I click on the icon and open the sound mixer.  At that time by pressing F8 will reduce the volume, F9 will increase the volume.  I can also increase or decrease the volume with the cursor.  I rely on the sreen screen to let me know if I still lock shift on for example.  I did "run - msconfig" and found that the quick adjustment box was unchecked.  I checked the box.  No change.  I went in "Task manager" but did not "quickset.exe" in "process".  Can you help me?  And, Yes, my laptop was recently built.

  We just bought a HP Pavilion laptop to replace our old Toshiba one (although begins to regret now). One of the most annoying things on the new computer is that the function keys requires that you press the FN key in order to make them do what the function key for decades! That is to say in order to refresh a Web page, you need to press FN and F5. How can I disable this ridiculous?   You can change this behavior as follows.

  Shut down the laptop - if you use Windows 9 or 8.1, hold down the left SHIFT key while you click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.

  Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the Bios ( f10 ) option, and then change the figure in the document at the following link.

  I am a PC technician a Thinkpad T540p of construction for the end user. It is currently running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I installed all the drivers directly from the Lenovo support page. My problem is that the function key to enable the wireless Radio does not work. I checked the lock feature. The other function keys are marked as well function. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver hotkey as well as the wireless driver and I still can't work.

  According to the request, you have problem with Wifi function key for your ThinkPad T540p.

  Please check with BIOS update and then install the shortcut function keyboard with Lenovo power management driver.

  Can enable you logging ADF for package oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean, which should show instructions for debugging of bean FunctionKeyHandlerImpl Manager.

  Better yet, run your application in mode bug, set a breakpoint in FunctionKeyHandlerImpl.handleKeyCode and press Caps - F5. That should clarify what happens.

The media and f1, f2, f3 and keys etc are on the same keys, and that's where my problems; I play games on the computer and I use f1, f2, f3 key while playing these games.   By "function keys" do you mean the F1 through F12 keys along the top? Those that are designed to work within each application, with some generally accepted standards. For example, F1 usually means the 'Help' function in applications that support a help function. Similarly, F5 usually means 'Refresh', as it does in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

  But although there are standards, they are not always respected. For example, my file manager 3rd - party (which replaces Windows Explorer) use Ctrl (control) + 'R' to mean 'Refresh '. If the answer to your question boils down to, 'he (usually) depends on the application.

  It is also the answer to the same question when asked for the special function keys along the second row of keys. Last point, you can find what keys do what are the functions in the menu at the top of almost all the applications bar. Where a function button is enabled for a function in the menu bar, that will be visible key in the location hot key along the right edge of a menu. Thus, for example, 'Refresh' is shown in the View Menu of Internet Explorer, opposite the word on the right edge F5 is displayed.

  If I use my computer hp laptop with Windows 7 that has the standard PS/2 keyboard. I'm just annoyed by the fact that I have to press the "Fn" with the function keys.
