Fusion of data group

I make a catalog and have explored the fusion of data up to the point where I can do everything I need... except for one thing. I have several codes for an element. Finished output should look like this:

< < pic > >        Wedge, 15 degrees

Corner wonderful, useful in many applications, blah blah blah

Price of item Code length

15 "$34 WED15 < < < group the data

WED18 18 "$35

...

The only solution that I can understand is to insert a search and replace the placeholder in the data file IE. WED15xxxWED18xxxWED21 then search and replacement in the mail merge generated to insert a hard return. This would then require a layout adjustment and mounting.

I could always script that precedes, but it seems quite labour intensive and hard to understand for someone who is no script in the first place.

Is that what I can do or is this going to be a position where evryone suggests a plugin to purchase?

If the original data is a database, you may be able to work with the data provider to program the output to give you a line for each item you need. That's essentially what you're trying to merge the data, but you have reached its limit of programmability.

You can ask Adobe for improved data management to merge the data here:

https://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/mmForm/index.cfm?name=wishform

Sorting and selection, are good queries, but what you need for this specific project is called 'leap control' programming; When a category of data changes, then a few things must be inserted to start a new series of such things. Here is the photo, description and title tags, which must be inserted at the beginning of a 'family' element and when the family changes the programming must insert the following image, the description and header tag line.

Present your example with your request.

Another option to try for her approach "empty field" could be to insert non-printable for each blank white space; This could overcome occasional problems to merge data with completely empty fields. Just a thought.

  • Fusion of data and separate auto-pagination. Are they incompatible?

Is there a way to define automatic numbering for each new document starts on page 1 or should I number each page individually or waive the data merge?

I did not limit to a simple record merger. You say you can merege the entire list at once, with a limit of one record per doc, and it will make the docs n for n records? It would be interesting.

With precision. I created 30 three pages of documents, each with 9 fields merged on a laptop for 2 years, in about 30 seconds.

My record source has 460 lines; I'm not going to burn my box pushing all, but this could be done with moderation. Setting the limit of records per Document in the merge records dialog box, Options tab, allows such. Really sloppy.

  • CS4: can I ask a logic based on the fusion of data?

    Hi all

I create a document using CS4 InDesign that has variable text in it.  Some of the variable text is 'static', it is inserted directly a data merge.  In other cases, however, I want to display a block of text (specify) If an element in the data merge has a value and another block of text, if the data merge element has a different value.  I can do it with a script?  Here's an example: in the data merge file, I have something "WorkingHours.  It can have a value of "5-8" or "24 x 7".  If the value is '8-5' I want to display ' 08:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday ' and if the value is "24 x 7"I want to show '24 hours, 7 days a week'.  I want the text to display in a cell in a table in my document.

If I can do this, I just create the script, save it, and then select it via the data merge Panel to insert it into the cell where I want to output data to display?

    Thank you very much

As Peter has already pointed out, you could do a simple IF formula in Excel, problem solved...  Well, that's if you are in a unique fusion of data.  If you are uncomfortable in Excel (first program I've ever used, I love it) you could get around that also.  Merging InDesign and data are not the ideal workflow for this sort of thing, the XM Pie to Indesign plugin is however, works costs a lot, lot$.

  • Fusion of data - several images to compensate for the resulting page and registers

I designed a form of writing simple exhibition of 3 fields, a logo (png), and a title area. This unique, simple, layer grouped when merged with data using several cliché product registration 54 pages of 8 cards per page: exactly as expected. However, the group resulting from cards on each page is offset. If 8 are grouped together and then the Group centered vertically and horizontally on each page this product the last printable pages.

I read that number of entries forum as appear relevant, have tried the Master object, played with spacing and margins but always result with 8 cards from shift of centering. I have also searched/view Lynda.com, YouTube and other references. I obviously do not see where this offset numbers tie in with other parameters of the page. All the parameters of the page are borderless, bleeding etc.

Where I wrong or what is the problem? I guess I could (with learn how do) create a macro to the group the cards on each page and then Center of each, but surely, this is not the result you expect from InDesign.

Thanks for any help or pointers anyone can offer.

Preview can be buggy, and I think it can "infect" your model, so I'm going to suggest you make a new template file, and then copy and paste your placeholders in it. Put them in the upper left corner.

If possible, make the group placeholder smaller than necessary to fill the page when duplicated 8 times without space between and set the top and left margins to position it correctly. In the merge options add necessary spacing, leaving the upper part and fix the left margins, but set the down and right on 0 (data fusion can be weird about editing when the margins are quite right, too).

Finally take a leap of faith and merger without preview.

  • Fusion of data/directory

    Hi all -

First time using Adobe forums. I am designing a directory of listings (name, company, coordinates, Etc.) for registrations to 700 +.

To avoid manually typing each entry (ouch!) I did research data fusion and am a little confused as to what the best approach is to provision a several page directory. The project is the following:

Establishing a directory for an affiliate business (about 40 pages). We have over 700 members in Excel format with all their information in the columns. I can save the Excel file to a CSV file, but what is the best way to format and style these lists to a multiple pages in indesign document?

Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Best,

    Dan

    Hello Dan,.

Did you do a merger in before ID? There is some good info in Help and on various web sites. Put in your placeholders, assign paragraph and character style to them (styles of characters if necessary), trust, the merger will work in a new document - does not preview it's buggy, sometimes. Check your merged document.

Now, each record of the merger will be in the individual text blocks that are not related to the flow. There are a few ways to stitch the frames to flow text from one frame to the image. One of these methods is to use a plug-in, and there are many scripts to do. Once executives were sewn, I delete all pages and all but the first block of text. Then drag the frame to the size, add columns if desired, add a page and the automatic text formatting (which adds as many pages as necessary. This whole process takes much longer to describe here that do in fact... at least when you did.

    Therefore, this...

I don't know if it's possible, but thought I'd ask.

My apologies for the fact that I use here paintings EBS and cannot provide examples of data to make it more simple.

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Thank you

Yes, use a GROUP BY on the national identified and a max(.. columnname..) on the other columns.

  • end of data grouping

    Hi friends,
I am struck on a question for which I am trying to find a solution. The problem is that I have a select statement that returns me the data as below. The first column is the date column, the second and third columns represent the county based on columns 4 and 5. That is to say, column 2 is mapped from the col4 and col3 is mapped to col5. I want the data in the table that are on terms col4, col5.

    Existing table
    Date col2 col3 col4 col5
    2010-07-25 3 7 26 26
    2010-07-25 3 3 26 505
    2010-07-25 1 7 505 26
    2010-07-25 1 3 505 505

    Desired table
    Date col2 col3 col4 col5
    2010-07-25 3 7 26 26
    2010-07-25 1 3 505 505

Could you please let me know how to do.

for the data provided, it just seems

    ... where col4 = col 5

or maybe reading requirement (NO TESTS).

    select x.date,x.col2,y.col3,x.col4,y.col5
      from (select max(date) date,max(col2) col2,col4
             group by col4
           ) x,
           (select max(date) date,max(col3) col3,col5
             group by col5
           ) y
     where x.col4 = y.col5

  • Fusion of data/result defines what are parent/child?

    Hello:

I have seen a few examples to make a data model so that a BI report can have master-detail data. They are a set of Q1 data and a set of T2 data with a variable binding to connect the two in a parent/child relationship.

But what I need, it is actually a UNION. I have the same table on multiple instances of database and I want to show the results grouped in a single report, as if it all happened to a table. Examples of master-detail have a section defining the grouping but they group Q1 (see here)

    http://blogs.Oracle.com/BIDeveloper/data_template/

and I need to regroup in a column in Q1 and Q2 to "merge" the two sets of data.

    Does anyone do this?

    Thank you.

If you define multiple SQL-queries/data models data sets, you can combine them into a single set of data by selecting the concatenated SQL Data Source.

Choose concatenate them box, concatenation will result in the union.

RTF again, you can use the two dataset and display as a single table.

  • Loading table to Essbase Data - group

    Hello

We are loading the data of a table in Oracle to Essbase. 2 elements of data in the table needs to be loaded by the grouping of data and 2 other data elements should be responsible for taking just the last value with the group.

-To group by on 2 columns, we add 'SUM' on the target
-To load the 2 others that just the last value (its total recurrent) we just map it to target as is

The problem is that we see some inconsistancy data... (any suggestion to manage this case?)

As an alternative, we have created two separate interface... one to manage the group in 2 elements needed the SUM and other interfaces with the other 2.

    Please advise! Thank you.

You may need to divide in 2 interfaces, otherwise when you could load #missing values to the database where the data exist.

    See you soon

  • Filtering data grouped in Advanced DataGrid

I want to display hierarchical data (data groping) in advance DataGrid and at the same time I want so the filtering feature. The problem is that if I want grouped view then I provide GroupingCollection the dataprovider (which has no function filterFunction type functionality).
Is it possible to fix this?

    I found the solution.

    1. store the data collection ArrayCollection (say ac).

    2 - ac.filterFunction = processFilter / / some filter function

3 assign this collection for GroupingCollection ArrayCollection (say gc) as a source.
    GC.source = ac

4 assign gc as dataProvider of dataGrid

5 - when you want to apply the filter:
    ECL Refresh();
