G72 Win 7. Used to install MS Office 2003 disc HP

I'm replacing/updating my old HP Compaq for a HP G72 nx9420.

I have Microsoft Office 2003, version of HP from the previous machine. The package States, cannot be installed on a HP/Compaq machine.

When I try installing, I get an error message 'is not a HP or Compaq computer' - it is obviously.

The op system is Win 7 Home 64 bit.

Is there anything I can do to get this Setup working?

Thanks in advance.

Hello:

The version of MS Office 2003 to your nx9420 is an OEM version.

This means that you do not have a license to transfer it to another PC - even a HP one. This copy of MS Office must stay on your nx9420. If the machine dies, does the license.

The OEM disk is specifically configured for installation only on ID material hidden in the installation routine. Apparently material of the G72 that ID is not included in the installation file, so you get the generic error you receive.

I received continual cannot install error messages for Windows Update for updates of security for my MS Office 2003 components, starting on 17/04/2010.

04-15-2010, an update for MS Office 2007 System was autoinstalled - KB981715 - as well as 9 other updates.  After that, all Office 2003 security updates failed.  Should I uninstall MS 2007 Office System update & try again to install Office 2003 updates?  Do not have updated security for my office components is quite relative.  Update provides links for 646 error code, but the "fix" does not help.

Since 06/08/2010, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Security Update for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 (KB979906) has also failed to install - error code 643.  Same deal - troubleshooting process fails.

How can it be corrected problems?

  • Using Office 2003 after replacement

Can install us Office 2003 Professional Edition free for use at home on five computers, we replaced when we bought new computers with Office 2010? (We are a small office of 5 people).

If you have a volume license provider, you will need to contact them to see what gives your VL agreement.  If these are commercial versions, then the answer is no. the software at retail offers no right of demotion for the end user.

  • Installation problem with MS Office 2003 on Windows 7

I tried to install MS Office 2003 Pro on my PC with Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit).
Every time I have pass the product OK key part I get a very irritating little box that says this:
    Windows Script Host
    Script: D:\autorun.vbs
    Line: 12
    Char: 1

Does anyone have a solution to this?

I discovered how to do this after much trial and error.
The solution is quite simple. Insert your MS Office 2003 disk in drive D.
Go right out of "Programs" click on DVD RW Drive D. click on 'install '.
It worked for me. It actually installed everything fine without even asking for the product key.
I hope it works for you.

  • Cannot install Microsoft Office 2010 trial, cannot use the product key.

    Original title: Office 2010 trial

I downloaded a trial version of office 2010, I tried to install, and it gets so far and then stop saying that I can't use my product key, due to already having a trial on this laptop in the past which has been uninstalled by the former owner of this laptop. How can I get around this?

    Hello

    You can't go around it.

You get only the a free trial of your version of Office.

It is not an onging repeat trial offer.

It will be reported on your computer that an Office of first instance has already been downloaded and installed.

Buy office or use the free Open Office.

  • I'm about to buy a new laptop. I have installed the upgrade to Office 2007 some time ago and have the CD, but I don't have the original CD that I used to install Office 2003. How can I install Office 2007 on my new computer with only the upgrade CD?

I am currently running XP.  I expect that the new laptop has Windows 7.

Without the original installation media, Microsoft Office 2003, you cannot install a version upgrade of Microsoft Office 2007.  You would need to purchase a version of "Full license" of Office 2007. Carey Frisch

  • Product key for win 8 doesn't work no-error: this product key cannot be used to install a copy of windows retail.

I bought a copy of windows 8 for the upgrade to windows 7 from the Microsoft store. I need to reinstall the hard drive on this machine, but when I download the installer of windows 8 on another machine to try to create a bootable USB I get an error message when I put in the product key (which I paid for) who says: this product key cannot be used to install a copy of windows retail.

How can I get this problem?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

Ideally, there are two types of product keys: key to retail version key upgrade and full. The key to upgrade is used to upgrade the version of the operating system when you have the lower version of the operating system already installed on the system, for example, if you have already installed Windows 7 system, you can use the upgrade of Windows 8 to upgrade (override) currently installed Windows 7 to Windows 8. This product key cannot be used to download the installer of Windows 8 and create a bootable for installing Windows 8 from scratch.

However, the key of the full version allows to download the installer of Windows 8 and create a Windows 8 boot disk to install a full version of the operating system.

According to your description, you have reinstalled the hard drive on your machine and want to install Windows 8 by creating a bootable. Thus, you will always have the above error message while downloading executable files for Windows 8.

There are two options you can try to install Windows 8 on your system:

    • Replace the key with a key to the version upgrade complete on the Microsoft Store and follow the procedure as you said in your post. You will not get the error message given.
    • If you have the Windows 7 installation media, you can try to install Windows 7 on the reinstalled hard drive. After activating this operating system, you can try to upgrade to Windows 8 by using the product key that you have already purchased.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
