Generate network for a large sliding network configurations.

Hi all

I'm working on greenfield DMVPN network (200 + sites), and I'm looking for something help generate configurations for switches and routers of the site. Something that can use the configs of generation of models/spreadsheets and to update ip, etc. by site host name addressing would be great.

I am also looking to create configs on IP SLA.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve,.

We have been using GEN.IT since the initial deployment locations DMVPN 700 + through until today, for the deployment of new sites and reconstruction of existing sites. Once you put the work in developing spreadsheet models and using the functions for calculations of the intellectual property, GEN.IT is a very reliable tool to generate individual site configs or in bulk with confidence and ease.

Good luck.

    original title: grafting the internet

    Hi Maureen,

That your router has security enabled protection?  My guess is it doesn't and it's the way that person uses your wireless connection (like someone to visit with a laptop you could if you configure).

As a general rule, access to the router is by typing http://192.168.1.1 (or whatever your gateway address) in the address bar of your browser and you will be able to bring up the router configuration settings.  He'll probably want a username and password.  Sorry, I can't help you there because I have no idea what it could be.  Try admin/admin or admin/password or administrator/administrator or administrator/password or admin and no password or admin and no password (the classic default settings).  Your ISP or service of technical assistance of the manufacturer of the router may be able to help put this in place.  After that, how configure security entirely depends on the ISP, the router, the type of operating system you have, the type of internet connection you have and a number of other factors that I have no way to know, even if you told me that information.

In fact, to see if this applies even, go to the Network Center and sharing, and click on manage wireless connections.  Select and double click on your network.  Click the Security tab and see if it is configured with the entries in the drop boxes first two points in the key with a password applies.  If it does not exist, then there is no security on your wireless router.  If there is, then your network is secure without doubt.

When you see the active connection, click on start / all programs / accessories / and double click on Control Panel.  Type IPCONFIG/all and see if you can identify this other connection of the computer.  It should provide more information about it for the purpose of identification.

If your router is not secure, you must fix and this should solve the problem.  If your router is secure, you should change the password/key of the router to see if that solves the problem (and then you will need to change the key to all your wireless computers and devices to match the new).  If it still does not work, then come back and we will come with some other ideas (assuming that the manufacturer of access provider or router cannot help you with this).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hello

To make sure wireless encryption needs.

There are a few types of wireless networks, and the response of PML due to a problem of the OP has the wrong configuration wireless for the network it is on.

The wrong configuration mentioned in the thread is company 802.1 x, when it is off there is always a need of regular password to connect to a regular safe home wireless network. Which is probably what your wireless network comes with.

I don't know what you're trying to connect to (or what you're doing), but apparently the connection you are looking at is safe and you must know the password.

    Hello

We currently have new EqualLogic 6100 device with this network configuration:

I would attribute 192.168.0.4 to eth4, but received the error: "management interface should not be on the san subnet.

I am sure that all interfaces eth has access to the VLAN1 and VLAN2, mean error indicates that eth4 should not access VLAN2 and only access the VLAN1 on the switch?

Or eth0 should also have access to the VLAN2 only to reconfigure eth0 and eth4?

    Thank you

    > The group eating IP should be in iscsi VLANS?

    Yes!

Note: If configure you an EQL it will ask an iSCSI port because nothing is more necessary to bring it up. The doest previous EQLs have a dedicated Mgmt Port and later, you can convert the last ethX as a MGMT port. This is the reason why configure you ISCSI at the beginning. (Think of a mixed group of newer and older models, and you get a picture)

OK... once again it is the one and only member of the Group and there is making the production host connected to the right?

The change of IP address, to a 3rd. subnet for temporary use.

-Do not touch eth0-3 and the IP address of the group now

-Configure the MGMT port and IP address management in the tempr group. Subnet. Use the Config-> Adv. Group-> network MGMT. You can change the MGMT Port of the Member, and the address IP of MGMT

-For the registration of the configuration, you will lose access. You must place your admin PC in the templ. subnet so

-Connect to the GroupMgr with temp again. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

-Now you can change the IP address of group 10.10.10..x

-Now you can change eth0 10.10.10.2

-At the end, you can change the address IP of the Group MANAGEMENT, as well as the MGMT Port to 192.168.0.x

-Change the IP address of your admin PC rear

A failover, you should consider to hang a serial cable the active controller of the EQL. Use 9600,8,1, N with your favorite terminal program (putty.exe on windows). All the steps, you can perform from the command line.

If this group and the only member not in production, but you can reset the config and restart from the beginning.

  • Change the IP address in the user profile of the Network Configuration?

I added some users on the network configuration in order to change the ip address when they are in the other site, but in Windows 7 it is inviting to enter the user name and password, if a single user, enter the name password it will allow them to change the ip address how to change so that the user is able to change your ip without asking for a password and username?  How can I solve it... Thanks in advance.

    Nerdcat

Address you internal IP is defined by the router or the ISP based on your configuration.  If you try to change the internal IP address using "static IP" you shouldn't have to enter a user name and password so that it is in configuration and fixed like that.

You cannot change the external IP provided by your ISP it however.

  • Network Configuration operator: link to change speed

    Hello

in my area of the company, we use laptops Windows 7 Professional with limited user rights. Some of our technicians need to change IP addresses to connect to devices of management, that's why we added them for the group 'Network Configuration operators. Some devices accept only connections with a certain speed (link speed & Duplex is set to "AutoDetect" as default), so the speed must also be defined by the technicians themselves.

The problem is that for the 'Network Configuration Operators' group, the "Advanced" in "Network connection properties" tab is not visible. Is it possible to see the Advanced tab (or change the speed of connection & duplex) without administrative rights?

  • VLAN again added, problems detected on guests during the detection of new network configuration

    Hi all

I started facing a strange problem trying to use a new VLAN configured in my vCenter environment...

Basically, my system 'fight' to identify the new network label (VLAN) configured, leaving systems disconnected from the local network.

This condition disappears only when I change the VM touched, assign a label of different network (VLAN), apply the changes and restart the process by configuring the new VLAN return.

We will use an example to explain better:

    • I have a named Windows Server/Workstation VM: VM1
    • I have 2 VLANS configured in vCenter: VLAN50 and VLAN70

VM1 is sitting on the VLAN50 and has the static IP address configured.

I start the migration of the machine to a VLAN different, by editing the network settings of the operating system (IP, MASK, GW, DNS entries...) and replace the label of VM1 VLAN70 network.

At this point, the machine NIC shows as if it could not connect to what in the network, although it is configured accordingly in order to communicate in the new subnet.

I have change the VM again and change the label of a network VLAN different from VLAN70, click OK. Immediately, I change VM settings to assign in return the VLAN70.

After that, the operating system recognizes the network successfully and starts working as expected...

All of my virtual machines use VMXNET3 adapter and my version of vCenter is v5.5 build #2646482

    No idea what might happen?

    Concerning

    We found the problem...

It was not associated with VMware, but a network configuration problem: (ESXi connected to two switches, one of them with the VLAN configured correctly and the other does not...).

    Thanks for the help

  • VSPHERE 5.5 REBOOT COPYIED VM WITH BAD NETWORK CONFIGURATION

    Hello

I have 2 host esx with the internal data store.

    I have a 3rd server with vsphere 5.5.

I am writing a CLI power script to copy the virtual machine from one host to another host.

It is to make a backup of my vm so the host to crash and restart quickly my vms.

My script is ok. The copy is ok I see my backup on the second ESX VM.

But when I start the VM on the ESX backup, the network of my VM configuration is lost.

I have to reconfigure my network card IP address.

I create the same virtual switch on my host 2.

I have the same number of network cards.

How can I keep my network configuration?

    Thanks for the replies

This can happen because the MAC address has changed since the virtual machine has been moved from one host to another, and if the host is not managed by vCenter, each use of the hosts a range of particular MAC addresses... and a workaround is try to use static MAC address.

  • Network configuration / routing / two network interface cards / NAT - leased / dedicated Dell R210 running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

Network configuration / routing / two network interface cards / NAT - leased / dedicated Dell R210 running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

    Hello

I'm trying to understand how to configure a dedicated server of Dell R210 rented running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

This dedicated server is rented www.online.net and sits somewhere in France. One of its network adapters have an IP public 62.210.177.20x. The other NIC is here, but I do not understand how it is configured. According to the www.online.net portal, the other NETWORK card has or should have an IP 10.90.116.20x. And I am obviously set up is to have some virtual machines running and be able to access the Internet. I have access to the console of the server Dell through iDRAC and since I could see, one of the network adapters in the IP is 62.210.177.20x defined, and the other has been shown out of service. I managed to make it appear the other interface but I cannot find anywhere how to assign the IP address 10.90.116.20x to this 2nd network adapter. But then again I don't even know if I should or if I need to assing a IP address to this 2nd network adapter. What is the cable connected even for this 2nd NIC? I do not know. Should it be - I'm not either. I don't know French and manuals/instructions on www.online.net are in French. I can try an online translator, but I don't think that what I'm looking for is explained. How do I get this set up? I have to do something about the ESXi on the server console? This interface 2nd should be in place, or it must be down as if it was originally? Yesterday after watching someone videos on YouTube, I added the second virtual switch and moved the virtual hosts of this switch 2 and he entrusted the 2nd NIC. But that 2nd NIC had a red X next to it probably indicating that it was disconnected the 2nd form virtual switch. Today and now I have managed to access the ESXi console server through iDRAC, I bring the 2nd NIC, and now both network adapters are assigned to the virtual switch 1st . But I think that a NIC should be attributed to a single switch and the other card NETWORK on the 2nd switch. I'm just a desktop guy with enough knowledge to be dangerous J if you / someone put in steps how and where to set them up it... PLEASE

    Thanks in advance

    • VMware vSphere Hypervisor is an "operating system" for pure virtualization and support NAT or routing. Therefore, only a real bridge configuration can be used.

If I understand the above, I need to show some VM and set up as a router? If the virtual machine that will act as a router must have two network interfaces, where it is connected to a switch and the other to the other switch network card. Am I do? Do I need to order an additional / extra / 2nd IPv4 address so that it can be assigned to the interface of the router?
