Get a VM hard drives size

Hello!

I am trying to retrieve information about hard disks and storage of a VirtualMachine details.

I get what I need using vm.getStorage () .getPerDatastoreUsage (); but unfortunately, the getStorage method does not work for older versions of Virtual Center (I get an exception caused by InvalidProperty).

Is there another way I can get the size of the virtual disks to a virtual machine?

For example, it would be enough to have something like the cmdlet Get-hard drive you can use with PowerCLI...

Thank you very much!

Filippo

You can enumerate all the devices in the virtual machine. For each device, check if it is a hard drive and find the size.

HTH,

-Mani.

  • Portege Z830 - where can I get the new HARD drive

    Hello

I have problem with my toshiba portege z830 ultrabook.
My HARD drive died, and I don't know where I can get the new HARD drive.

I've got guaranteed but I am forgotten registered my cell phone before when I went for repairs not authorized, because my first problem was with the motherboard.

This motherboard has been replaced for new ones.
If my warranty is maybe cancelled.

Well, that's my problem to another.

    What should I do?
Please help me. I am available to do anything.

    Hello

I think that you should first check if your warranty is still valid.
This can be checked on Toshiba Unitdetails page:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails/

Where the warranty is valid, get in touch with maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for replacement.

But as far as I know the Portege Z830 was equipped with an mSATA SSD drive.
This means that the laptop doesn't support HDD 2.5 common but requires special mSATA SSD drive module.

In case your warranty is not valid, you will pay for a new mSATA module.
Replacement should do a service provider authorized Toshiba as well because this replacement is a little tricky on this model of laptop.

  • Get the old hard drive to work on the new processor

I am a PC Tech company with problems on PC at home.

My Win 7 Home Premium Dell Studio T435/9000 dead.  It was a motherboard problem, I chose not to replace the CPU/Mo with a duplicate.  The hard disk MBR is good, I could read it and when I installed in an Optiplex 990 at work, it is initialized.

I had the chance to receive a new Dell T5610 with 2 CPUs of a parent.  It came with professional Win7 preinstalled on an SSD, UEFI boot on a GPT disk.  But all my apps are absent and even a rat-pack obsessives like me do not have all the CD and install the files for the various applications on the old hard drive.

I want to use my old hard drive on the new PC, then after that it's stable, migrate the old hard drive to the SS disc supplied with the PC.

First problem was to learn the differences between MBR and GPT.  After this was learning that Home Premium does not work on a PC with two separate processors.  I use Win7 professional for that.  With the help of this forum, I was able to do this by using the Optiplex 990.  I run Win7 Professional on the Optiplex 990.

I take the former home of hard disk go BIOS to legacy.  Old hard drive that boots on 990, does not start on T5610.

I try various advanced options, safe mode, low-resolution video, nothing works.  I get a BSOD is a hard drive error, STOP 040000007 B.

I try Startup Repair tool and get the following:

    Problem event name

    Offline Startup Repair

    1 6.1.7600.16385

    2 6.1.7600.16385

    5 Autofailover

    6 1

    7. bad driver

    6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 OS version

    Locale 1033

How can I get my old hard drive to work with the new processor.  Is it a question of Dell, a Win7 Office.  As the hard drive starts up successfully on another CPU, I believe that the hard drive is good.

Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks to you all.  But the solution was completely different.

Dell said the motherboard on the accuracy was so different from my old PC that unless I reinstalled Win7 Professional from scratch on the old hard drive, motherboard would not work with the old hard drive.

They have guaranteed that the old hard drive would work on a 8700 XPS.  After some problems, I managed to do the work.  Problem solved.

  • Maximum HARD drive size on a Satellite 1110-Z16

    Hello!

What is the size of the disk HARD Maxx in a Satellite-Z16 1110?
Is it possible to install a 120Gig Hdd(2,5")?
Is there a description for 1, 50-TRAD Bios Update?

    Hello

I don t think that this laptop and the BIOS will recognize 120 GB HARD drive.
According to some information in the internet, the phone supports up to 40 GB HARD drive.
The problem is that Toshiba does not have official information about the sizes of disk HARD max.
It seems that you have to test

  • Help a fool please ~ deleted partition, lost the hard drive size

I'll try my best to make this as clear as possible, thank you for your time...

Received my free copy of windows 7 home Premium

Wanted a clean install (not an upgrade)

Back up all the data and the programs that I installed

During the installation of win 7, I deleted the recovery of the system partition and the 2nd partition of my HARD disk (has been labeled d, came that sort of lenovo factory, had 70 GB size I think)

I thought that if I deleted the partition of the hard drive space would be added to the 1st partition and it did not

Have materialized with the installation of win 7, and now I just have never found my C: and the GBs of the 2nd old partition so its as if I lowered my total HARD disk size

How can I get my C: to have all of the 320 GB? Thanks for any advice!

You can allocate the unused disk space as follows.

    Start > run > diskmgmt.msc

Right-click on the Windows partition [should be C] and click on "expand". Extend partition as needed and enjoy.

  • Re: What do I get from my HARD drive warranty claim?

I see lots of posts with the same problem, I've had and a lot of discussion of a warranty call, but I can't find someone explain the traps to get there - unlike most search forums does not check the titles not happy (?)

I ask because I recently had my claim accepted-, but the lack of information is absolutely breathtaking.

Hope you can help - there is nowhere where do ^ $^.

    * This is the problem: *.

I have had no communication by electronic mail after the acceptance with a case REF.

The ref case led me to a room containing nothing else than what I told them - even if I added my email to research.

The first time that the doc came, he had a number of high long distance phone in - I wasn't there because I was expecting a few emails - the number has now disappeared.

I checked every day and can't find any more - at one point I stopped to add my email to research - I think now it was a mistake - a mailing label appeared now - WITH NO INFORMATION whatsoever.

I desperately need to know if they will fix my 2 GB Canvio or not. A replacement is of no use to me - I'd rather cut the damn thing apart and try out the disc directly myself.

This is essential - it isn't a toaster or a TV, etc. it is really sold as a safe. If you buy a metal safe and we're not manufacturers will open it by hook or crook and give you save your valuable documents, manuscripts, etc. family photos (even if you have copies elsewhere) - they won't trash the thing and send you a void in Exchange!

It is the only place to turn that might work (probably because it costs Toshiba nothing).

    Thank you.

^ $^ The Toshiba site is useless - does not work most relevant links, most of those who don't take you round in circles, there is NO address of contact or telephone line, unless you want to talk to the team of the press (of course). It's a disaster - an amateur who.

    Hello

Sorry to hear that you have problems with your HDD Canvio. It's a really bad situation if use you it for backup of data and are saved a lot of useful data.

Please don't misunderstand me, but after reading your ad I didn't understand one thing: have you contacted maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country?
You have some basic information how it works with defective external HARD drive?
    Who is your contact?

You know, this is user forum and it is not easy to discuss these issues. Each of us can post opinions and describe specific experiences, but, as far as I know, there are rules, how it works with service and warranty. I think Toshiba ASP is required to offer a detailed explanation to customers.

To be honest it is unclear to me how it works with the data protection and data recovery in case the HARD disk is defective.
Do you still have the slip that you got with your HARD drive? I have three years old Toshiba HDD but I did so I can't check what's written there.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - new partition after Exchange of HARD drive sizes

Under 'Vista' with a 120 GB hard drive and needs space.

Bought a 500 GB SATA drive. I'm afraid that the recovery software will set the new drive with a 50-50 Partition. This is the case or it will allocate 50 GB to E: / and the rest to C: /?

As the manual States that if I change the size of the partition the recovery software will not re - install in the future?

    Hello

As I know the Toshiba Recovery disk always allocates 50% disk space for each partition. This means that the 500 GB drive you have two partitions with ~ 250 GB of disk space on each partition.
If not or you want to change something, you can use the Windows disk management tool:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7101OB0006R01.htm

I think the manual means that you can use t more the procedure for recovery of HARD disk if you change the size of the partition.
But with the Toshiba disk recovery you are on the safe side and so you can always restore the factory settings every time. :)

  • Impossible to get more big HARD drive to be recognized on DV9420CA

DV9420CA laptop came with TWO 120 GB drives. Phoenix Bios has been updatded for the last authorized by ch. Trying (2010) to upgrade the second drive on a 1 TB drive. It crashes on sizes larger than the original 120 GB drive. WHY?

    Thank YOU in advance.

    Expert?

Taken at the local comp store, they understood.  You CAN upgrade to any drive size, BUT you should replace BOTH drives at the same time with exactly same size disks. Chipset has two outputs for Sata, one for the DVD and one for hard disks that is split in two, so they must have the same size. I have now two 500 GB drives and it works very well, thank you. Don't forget to replace the two discs with the same exact size discs and it should work.

    Hello

The size of the HARD drive is ok. BIOS of laptop computers should be able to handle the 40 and 60 GB HDD.
The laptop supports an Enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface.

It seems that the mentioned HARD drive must be compatible

    Check it out.
