Getting the ip address of the Linux Vm

Hi all

Is there anyway to get the IP address of the virtual machine linux where the tools of the virtual machine is not installed?

Inorder to get the ip address of a virtual machine through the api, you will need to have installed vmware tools. Maybe you can do ARP search using the mac address of the guest of the newspapers.

I have several desktop computers and portable computers that have the Windows 7 operating system.  Some have Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home and Windows 7 Professional.

My network is configured like this:

Desktop computers > switch > DHCP Linux server > router > Internet

Laptops > wireless bridge > DHCP Linux server > router > Internet

Windows 7 Professional does not appear to have a problem with my set up.  It can enter an address IPv4 automatically, wired or wireless.

Windows 7 Starter and Home cannot obtain address IPv4 correctly, wired or wireless.  If I give the static addresses of these computers, they can access the internet.  If I let them as dynamic, they will constantly try to connect and try to Identifingtwork.

I want to get my Windows 7 start and home computers to enter dynamic IPv4 addresses of my Linux DHCP server.  Note, I have never had any problem with Windows XP Home or Pro.

    Hello

Your question of Windows 7 is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public.
Please post your question in the TechNet Windows 7 networking forum.

    Hi Bruce,.

  • Why I can't get the IP address set correctly?

Hi, I have a problem while using the vCAC 6.0.1 network profile.  I followed the guide and deployed the iaas application can create the virtual machine by using linked Clone and Clone.  But when I use the network profile to get the IP address of the range that I have already mentioned, the VM simply isn't the right IP address, while I can see the IP address of the vcac portal...

I put my 192.168.1.100.110 IP range, include this profile in reserve and created a property profile that defines the custom property "VirtualMachine.Network0.ProfileName is my_network_profile_name".  Can I use it to create my plan.  After I have ask a virtual machine does not error, and I can see the right IP address since the details of the article, while it is not configured on the virtual machine.

Does anyone have this problem before?

    Thank you.

What is the OS of the VM?

I found that using Linux I had to configure a vsphere comments customization that has forced the DHCP on the VM at deployment time so that vCAC is able to inject then the IP address.

  • "Error: failed to get the IP address of the destination virtual machine running the converter to assistance server." with a static IP address

    Hi all

I'm trying to p2v linux 6.4. It fails with the following message is displayed:

Error: Cannot get the IP address of the virtual destination machine running the converter assistance server.

I have seen discussions on this message, but they all refer to dynamic IP address, taken from DHCP, as in my case, I use static IP address.

In the meantime the p2v (which then breaks down...) I open console support machine and saw a message:

eth0 is not a recognized interface.

Can someone tell me what is happening?

    Hello

I assume you are using converter 5.5. There is a new feature that allows the selection of the network card. However, it works well in the case of Linux P2V. If you have changed the type of adapter, use 'e1000' or 'auto' and try again.

  • An easy way to get the IP address of a VMware Player running?

Hey guys, need some help to get the IP address of a VMware Player running in windows & linux. An easy way? I search on google. I saw someone said how to limit the selection of the IP address, but this isn't what I want. I want to get the IP address of a VMware Player running in windows & linux. Thank you.

    Hi Badboy,

    Welcome to the forums.

VMware Player has no IP address, but the guest inside the VM systems have not one.

If your virtual machines based on the internal DHCP server of the player, for example if they are bridge now or NAT network, then on Windows, you should find information useful in the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\vmnetdhcp.leases. There is such a file on Linux.

    Good luck.

    Hello

Later, I changed the configuration to run only a single thread, and then it works fine without any errors. I also tried the process running even with configured to create a thread during two different sessions and then a session had this error but continues.

  • How can I get the address book to sort by the name of 'Family' (using v 31.3.0).

After a computer crash, I had to load Thunderbird (v31.3.0) in my computer running Windows 8.1, and I managed to import my address book backup file in Thunderbird (v31.3.0).
My problem is that I don't see an option to sort the address book by name of 'Family', which was available with the version of Thunderbird, I had before the crash.
How can I get the address book to sort by the name of "family"?

    "Address book".
    Select address book
    "View' > 'Show name as' > last/first". "

    You can sort by name.
Click on the 'Name' column header to change the sort order,
Reversed, then click on the 'Name' column header again to reverse the order.

    Or
    'View' > ' sort by ' > select 'Name' and 'Crescent '.

  • When I click on address book I no longer get the slot to insert a name, instead a long list of names/addresses

I sent this way new emails (not responses): click on address book. Place comes the space to insert a name. I do, find the name (among some close to it), select it and then click on "write". The result is an email address, which I proceed to write and send. But since there is one day, when I click on the address book, what appears is a long list of names and email addresses. It fills most of the screen of the iMac. And there is no space to insert a name.
Without doubt, I did something stupid to get there. What have I done? And how I turn the tide?
    Thank you.

This isn't answering your question on what is wrong.

I think that the address book is a pretty lame place to start.

Click on write or reply or forward and window of writing messages appears. pre-populated with the text of the previous message if it is a reply or forward.

If you select the To: box and start typing, it will feature names in the address book corresponding to what you typed.

If you really prefer to choose from a list, you can open a Contacts Sidebar which lists one of your address books. There are buttons to add Contacts selected to your message. You can drag and drop and use right click too. On a PC, F9 opens this sidebar, or you can use alt + v to get the view menu and choose the Contacts Sidebar in the submenu. I don't know how much it works on Mac.

It is so easy to add multiple addresses. You can set them as Cc or BCC.

Your method allows you to send a new message, but does not support the answer or transfer. It penetrates into all recipients regarding: and you have to change one by one, if that is not appropriate.

You see why I think that the address book is a bad place to start from?

If this alternative approach does not work then I suggest that corrupted address book. You have a recent backup to restore from?

As I said this is a problem since the last update. I was able to get flash working in earlier versions. Flash works in the Debian version of FF "Iceweasel".

You are running a version of Firefox 32 bit or a version of Firefox 64 bit-to-bit?

You must use the same Flash plug-in to make it work (32 bit Flash with 32-bit Firefox).

  • Can not get the address bar with Firefox - one or the other button

With the toolbar options configured with the menu bar, bar nagigation, bookmarks bar and tabs on top
I have no Firefox button, a full menu before the address box layout.
If I uncheck the menu bar, I get the firefox button, but no bar address and a blank line between the tabs and the bookmarks bar

Unchecking the navigation bar removes the empty line between tabs and bookmarks.

I deleted all the incompatible modules and searched just likely culprits in: config without success. Any suggestions?

Looks like you added the address bar and other icons of the toolbar in the menu bar and have an empty navigation toolbar.

Use the method in the following article to drag - move the address bar and other icons on the Navigation bar - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

You can also use the method of "Reset bars, tools and controls" as described in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Back+and+forward+or+other+toolbar+items+are+missing

  • I've accidentally got rid of the box where you type web addresses - when I right click at the top of my browser, I don't get the opportunity to come back - how I get it back?

I tried to maximize space for the display of the web page. I have a click right on the two albums and uncontrolled options. One of these options has been the region where I get the addresses of Web sites. When I right click in an attempt to restore the original configuration, the options to check do not exist. I stopped and restarted the browser, but lack still the area I get the Web site addresses and the other line I unchecked.

Press the Alt key to display the Menu bar, then open view > toolbars and select menu bar and the bar of Navigation, so that they have a check mark.
