  • Gmail has been hacked, most email now goes directly to the trash

My gmail was hacked.  People in my contact list have sent emails asking them to log on to a site. Most of my email goes to the trash.  I went to the Genius Bar last week, but the Lady could not fix. My email is still going directly in the trash.  I tried suggestions from research on the web, but have not been able to fix it.

    Hi Reyvanzo,

First, immediately turn on the audit 2 steps in your Google account, to be sure, it is well protected.

Then open the Gmail settings and go to the filters Panel: you will find at least one filter that automatically deletes all e-mails. Remove each strange filter that not create you, this will fix the problem.

    I hope this helps!

  • Gmail has already marked as Spam coming from Inbox

Gmail marks (rightly) incoming emails as Spam. But they recently - in the last two or three weeks maybe - have begun to appear in my Inbox and Spam folder. They do not appear in the Inbox when I access my Gmail via a browser web at gmail.com.

I checked all the settings I can see Apple Mail and Gmail and can't see how to disable this option, to keep Spam in the Spam folder.

    Any ideas, please?

It is recommended that disable you filter spam in Mail, when you use a Gmail account. Let the Gmail spam filter filtering.

    Open Mail > Preferences > junk e-mail

    Uncheck 'enable spam filtering '.

In Gmail settings > labels make sure you have the Spam folder checked for synchronization. Mail should auto select this option in the right folder junk e-mail.

You notice maybe only under the tab labels, you'll find the other folders named below as Junk E-Mail etc. These are created when you use a different e-mail client such as Outlook. I suggest cleaning your labels (folders) by removing these old unnecessary files.

If you use other e-mail accounts, you can deal with spam using Spam sieve. There is no way to disable junk filtering of the iCloud account.

  • Gmail has adequate fixation, Mac Mail has winmail.dat

Hello. One of my colleagues of the company tried to send an attachment to my email of company but in Mac Mail (Yosemite), comes as winmail.dat attachment. I send to my Gmail address instead, and it is also for Mac Mail as winmail.dat. Then, I loaded my Gmail in Chrome (to try to eliminate Mac Mail of the equation) and see the three PDFs at the bottom of the message as it should. I downloaded them (Macbook Air) of chromium as a zip (download file type by default, I guess, when there are multiple files). I opened the zip file and files three PDF are here.

I'm sure that the sender attached not a zip - archive she joined three PDF files by e-mail. Mac Mail is somehow convert these three PDF files in a winmail.dat which I do not know how to unzip or treat. I have yet to see it from other shippers, but that the problem occurred in Mac Mail if she sent to my address, or my Gmail address AND since Gmail itself in Chrome was fine, the problem seems to be local to my BONES.

    Any advice? Thank you.

Two options to open winmail.dat files:

"Klammer" allows you to open the MSG & Winmail.dat on Mac files. $5.99 at the App Store.

TNEF's enough, a decoder of winmail.dat. of Josh Jacob also available on the App Store.

This article was written for Outlook, but the info applies to mail.

  • Why is my inbox count in gmail, and apple mail different?

Yesterday, I asked my wife to go to gmail.com and clean my Inbox because I had more than 500 messages there. She joined the gmail.com using my email and password and she cleaned to have only 12 messages.

I didn't know she was done because all day, my apple mail that is related to my gmail has shown the same 500 messages. When I arrived at work this morning, I noticed that he said now 249 messages, so he did, in fact, remove (or archives), some of them. I wonder if those are the only updates that it deleted but not those she archived.

So my question is what I'm doing wrong to my settings. Is that a setting messed where archiving of messages in gmail.com don't check them in apple mail or visa versa or is simply not sync properly?

    Thank you

    Caleb

I see tabs for primary school, social, Promotions, updates in Gmail in your browser. You must disable these. Mail will show all emails in all of these tabs.

To disable the feature, click on the sign +. You can then deselect each of these tabs.

  • Thunderbird will not use the IMAP protocol for gmail unless I have "allow less secure operations" - help!

I used you bird for years, so the question is how to upgrade an old account IMAP. Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall you bird? I hope not! Maybe delete the account Gmail of you bird and reinstall?

Using Windows7, planning to migrate to Windows 8 soon but not immediately.

Thanks for any help. I searched the existing threads - if my answer is there, I was unable to find it! I found some indications that it is simply the way it is, but in other place indicates that this is possible. Verizon (which apparently don't use IMAP) is my client by default in you bird and I want to keep it this way. WHAT is the problem?

Christ1, I know it's all the same account Gmail - but the article you sent me was very useful. Thank you for taking the time to stay with me on this - I'm sorry to be unclear, but... I'm really out of my depth here! There are many on the way computers and the internet work is a mystery to me, but OTOH I can usually bend to my will, even if I do not understand how they work!

I think you put your finger on something important for me. I use Gmail so MUCH as a POP3 account (via you bird) and (more rarely) online, such as webmail - when I'm not at my main computer. And I want to keep it this way, so it seems that if I need to keep things as they are. I told Google to enable IMAP, but also continue to use you bird (POP).

"Security" - well, if Gmail has to have me 'allow less secure connections', then there must be SOMETHING less safe on pop... don't know more on this subject than that, however.

We will examine this 'resolved for now' and thanks again.

  • Gmail does not recognize my password in Thunderbird. Through gmail, it works.

When you try to retrieve messages in Thunderbird to my gmail account password is not recognized. There had been no problems until Friday. Using Thunderbird 31.3.0. on the Windows 7 computer. I can connect to gmail via the web. Error message says to connect using http://support.google.com/mail/accounts/bin/answer.p4?answer=78754 (failure). This has been tried. Follow the instructions. Same result. No email.

It is more than probable that the so-called security of junk that gmail has imagined. Go to gmail and read about 2 verification step and passwords application specific or turning on access to less secure applications.

  • Gmail and Firefox 34.0.5

Since the installation of Firefox 34.0.5, I was able to use basic HTML in gmail. This type of question never happened with earlier versions of Firefox. I run Win7, fully updated. I checked for viruses (ESET security, including the root directory) and malicious software (Malwarebytes, root search also). I use a VPN service from China (VPN Express), which I checked also separately for virus and malware.

Similar topics referred me to "subject: config ', but now I can't reset - this function is not a job for all of the useragent files. There are four of these files... all status 'default', boolean, boolean, string, and boolean. I couldn't paste the screenshot (sorry) here.

Can anyone help with this? I really want to switch browsers (remained loyal to Firefox since dirt) or by e-mail.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    Michael

    I thank cor - el-

It turns out that I don't have to experiment with disabling DNT for gmail - also, gmail has no trackers anyway. And Yes, for many years, private browsing is my approach - both for FF at home and at work IE. Everything seems more appropriate somehow!

The problem seems to be resolved today. Maybe update the different windows (21 or more, a lot of security related), maybe change the VPN Protocol, perhaps the GFW (wall of fire: Yes, I am in China) eased to himself a bit (including the scope of the deployment of DPI), or maybe a combination of all three? Still mysterious, but I'm happy to have gmail back!

Thanks for you help and once again, thanks to Philipp as well.

    Best regards

    Michael

  • I'm able to sync Thunderbird with my gmail. So if I delete an email from Thunderbird, it removes them turn off all devices (Gmail Web site, telephone, etc.).

My Gmail has IMAP enabled automatically, and I followed the steps presented by one of the help topics, even if this does not work. What I am doing wrong? I really want to be able to sync everything that's going to be a lot more convenient.

"POP server". There you go. Make sure that IMAP is enabled on this account on the Gmail settings web page. Set up the account in Thunderbird again but this time select IMAP.

When you have this second account upwards and running in Thunderbird, you can move messages you want to keep FRO the POP account on the IMAP account, then delete the pop account.

  • Synchronization with GMAIL "all mail".

I do almost all my email through Thunderbird or K9 (Android)... only connect to GMAIL once a month or two. Today I just found out that my Gmail "all mail" had > 12 000 emails. According to the GMAIL Help Center, this folder is a collection of any shipment and receipt that has not been removed. In my case, most of the emails in that folder were e-mails received and deleted while in TB. I know what I have tested the two TB & K9. K9 worked as expected. Whereas deleting an email TB took the mail from the GMAIL Inbox, but there not 'delete' in the folder all the messages.

I have a TB (v24.6.0 on Win7) defined as follows:

       Server type is IMAP
"When I delete a message" is set to "remove it immediately"
"Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on Exit" is checked
       Messaging Archives is not checked

'All messages' folder in of any ideas on what I should do to get TB to clean up Gmail?

    Thank you, Bryan

Gmail has sometimes odd. To my surprise, I found all the messages that I never moved the server always in 'all messages '.

I don't like 'All messages' in Thunderbird, and I don't subscribe to this folder.

I regularly empty the trash, and I think that it is necessary to finally empty as 'all mail '.

Clear the cache and cookies only from Web sites that are causing problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.
  • Tabs in Safari for gmail eat much memory a lot. Why?

After I installed 10.11.4 on my 2012 13 "MacBook Pro with 4 GB of RAM, I found a lot of to use it. Recently, when I have frustrated its use, I checked the activity monitor and found that Safari tablets ONLY for gmail eats a lot a lot of memory, which seems ridiculous to me.

Gmail has been known to be a very light e-mail client. But I see that just by opening gmail inbox page, takes about 250 to 300 MB of RAM memory. And after a while (20-30 seconds) the consumption of memory goes up to 450 to 600 MB. I usually keep an eye gmail open in my safari browser all the time to check emails and not to close. (I do not use Mac Mail application, thinking that the Mail app will eat more memory than tabs in Safari). I also have emails with the normal text or advertising emails. No data high image or video files in my regular emails.

Here are the data of the activity monitor. Look at the memory for the process "mail.google.com":-the largest is 692MB taken up by a tab.

Answer please, if any of you are also facing this problem. Is this a bug of Mac OS or Gmail bug? Or if there is no solution to this.

    Hello...

See if that makes a difference...

In your Safari menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab, then click: delete all data of the website can leave and then restart Safari to test.
