I have a DVD made home to a sporting event that my son has played in. I'm trying to get the DVD video in a file on my PC so that I can use it with Windows Movie Maker. If you're running Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, you can
be able to import files into Movie Maker directly from the
DVD... the files you want are in the VIDEO_TS folder and have
    a VOB extension.

Also... the info is maybe worth a visit:

When you insert the DVD in your DVD player... close
all the windows that can open and then go to... Start /.

The files you need from the DVD are the. VOB files.
You will find them in the VIDEO_TS folder. Copy them
in a folder on your hard drive.

First... just try to rename one of the. VOB files to
. MPG or .avi and see if it will matter in Movie Maker.
If import works... drag the file to the timeline and
Economy/publication it to .wmv or .avi format. Then...

(FWIW... you can probably play the files renamed

If you are unable to import the files they need to be converted
another .wmv format would be a good choice.

My video files avi play sound but no video in Windows Media Player 7. Video files avi are since 2002 and has played very well until I'm a new PC with Windows 7 so I know that the files are not corrupt. All my other files and videos play fine in Media Player. I checked online and seen the posts in other forums on the codecs being the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this? Based on the other forums I found it seems that it is not uncommon that a problem with Win7.

Also, is it possible to convert audio and video files in different formats with Media Player? Or do I need any other software to do this?

It is not that there is a problem in Windows 7, it is more likely that you don't have just the installed CODEC the video file is saved with.  You will need to find a source, download and install any CODEC no MS yourself. You can use GSpot to identify CODECs used in AVI files. An alternative to downloading of many individual CODECs is to install FFDSHOW instead. Some media players like VLC and Media Player Classic also have internal CODECS and support for a wide variety of video and audio file types.

  • How do I enable "Click to play" so the videos do not play unless I want to do?

In my view, there is a setting that will prevent the video to play unless I click on the play button. I want to prevent videos from automatically playing all the sites I visit.

    I use Flash block {web link}

  • When I play videos from VIMEO, all I get is the image and no sound. They work fine on IE, but suddenly won't be on Firefox. With the help of Windows 8.1.

This just started today. (I believe that yesterday there was an 8.1 automatic Windows Update when I shutdown - don't know if that is related.) Anyway, when I click on a video VIMEO - video VIMEO ALL - everything I get is video (photo), but no sound.

If I go to the same link in Internet Explorer, the same VIMEO video and audio play perfectly.

Videos from other sites, Youtube, etc all work seamlessly in a browser.

    Simple solutions for this fix?

I use a desktop computer Dell XPS 8700 relatively new with Windows 8.1.

Nevermind - I just ran an update of Firefox, and that seems to fix the problem.

  • No sound when playing video from iTunes on a Satellite M45

    Hello
After trying to play a video from iTunes on a Toshiba Satellite M45, the entire sound system is out. I think there is something wrong with the audio drivers or not can not be detected. I am new to the PC World and will appreciate any help in easy to understand terms. Are there destinations where I can download a new driver.

    Hello

I think that you should first check device manager if there is no yellow exclamation next to the sound card.
If yes could help reinstalling the sound driver.

It seems that the laptop was designed for the American market. (because of the 5 at the end of the number)
So I think you should take a look at the Toshiba site us updates of pilot.

Are there still more recent versions of the driver at HP (even if not on your specific system page) or
