Got locked out admin but don't have CD system

Our school has a gift for laptop with Windows 7 that we use to store data.  There is only one admin account (I'll have to change that).  I logged in with the password, but it does not accept it and finally I locked.  We have no boot disk because it is a gift.  We felt that waiting a few hours may be enough to let me try again.  That did not work.  Could I restart in safe mode to access somehow?  I could use a bootdisk in Windows 7 from another computer? Is it possible to unlock it to try again?  What are my options?

Somehow after turning on the computer again, it said that it was time to change the password and let us.  I don't understand that, but it is fixed.

    Hello

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)

    • Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install
    • Install the new version you downloaded

Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re) install Firefox.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key determines which Edition is installed.

Builders recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

p.s. If the old hard drive is still installed and running before you change on hard drives and you never received the to purchase recovery discs, you can make the recovery discs from the recovery Partition which should be on the old hard drive. You will need to request that the manufacturer how to do as each computer manufacturer has their own way of making records of this partition recovery.

It depends on the old hard drive still works.

  • Reinstall XP OEM on Clean Hard Drive, but don't have installation disk

I have a Dell Inspiron and it's just a user.  There is no bling for this laptop; built in ' 05, 40 GB HDD, 1 GB of RAM.  Supplied with Windows XP Home Edition on it.  I still have the product key.  However, I don't have a installation CD of any or anything of that nature.

I recently wiped the HDD using DBAN, and I want to reinstall XP on it, using the existing product key.  This seems to be a trivial task, but I can't find anything on the net resettlement on from scratch.   I will be very put out if I did know that I have to buy a copy of the operating system.  That doesn't seem right, because I took the operating system out, I should be able to put it back on as if nothing happened.
Basicall I'm looking for is a copy of the operating system to install on the HARD disk, where I can then put in the old key.

you tell me, that even though I HAD a version of legitimate XP, when the circumstances where should, say the hard drive died and was unreadable and had to be replaced, it is impossible to reinstall an OS what I already purchased?

No, you went just about this the wrong way.

The seller of a computer came with Windows pre-installed is bound by the terms of its license with Microsoft to provide to the end user (i.e. you) with a way to restore the operating system.  A 'direct' (like Dell) OEM, it can do so by providing a restore partition hidden on the disc (which you wiped out if you said DBAN to wipe the entire drive) and/or a mechanism to restore on CD (which you apparently do not have).  The latter can be a 'true' Windows XP CD or a sort of 'restore' CD particularized.

Since you have a Dell, you should get in touch with Dell support, who can (or cannot, given the fact that XP is no longer for sale) be able to provide with restoration of the media for a fee.  You will need the printer Dell 'service number', which should be on a label stuck to your computer.  See, for example, http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=us&l=en&s=hied

    > A normal XP Home Edition version won't, because he's going to say that the series is not valid

You must use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the original disc of Microsoft Win XP with a clean serial key! You cannot use a version of Win XP as part of the serial key you found at the bottom of the unit that this key belongs to the OEM version pre-installed on laptop and will not work with any other version of Win XP.

Since the M40 is an older model mobile phone, you will not be able to order recovery of disk he abandoned s

  • to check on an order, but don't have the order number

I ordered yesterday a recovery disk.    Before that I could write the order number from the confirmation page I accidentally clicked on something, because I lost the page.    Course I received an email of confirmation on the cord, but I don't have an address verification e-mail on the recovery disk I was hoping.    Is there a place to check on orders without order number or somewhere to contact HP for FREE to know so I can check on this order.   I paid extra for the package the next day.   Thanks for any help!

I winded up finding an email customer service Chief Executive Officer and the information was transmitted.   After writing a second email, I received a phone call.   Very well!   From the sounds of it, but I don't think the order actually crossed until today because of my emails.    It's all good now well.   Thank you!!!

  • Hard drive is dead, it was loaded with a play version of XP, I have the product key but don't have XP disc and need to get a

    Hello

My title says about the history. My hard drive (XP) died and the local tech confirmed is not a replacement value (it's an old machine).

I have a MacBook and that you have loaded Parallels on it so that I can run Windows. Now I want to install XP on the MacBook, but I don't have the installation disc.

    1. is there somewhere I can download it from?

    2. once I have it loaded, my product key will work?

3 anything else I should be aware of when to load XP on a MacBook?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought the laptop used on ebay from a company that has sold thousands of refurbished machines. I know that she buys lots of companies that no longer need them, wipe data, reinstalling Windows and then sell them. Installing XP is legitimate, because the laptop has a certificate of Authenticity on the back Microsoft.

So I suspect that the Windows installation is not related to the motherboard.

    Other thoughts?

    Thanks again.

It is quite possible that XP has been reinstalled on your computer using an OEM disc "generic" as well as your product key from the computer.  However, the product key itself is linked to the motherboard.

For example, my son recently bought a used computer from a friend.  The friend had removed the original hard drive and replaced it with a smaller.  The computer has been a mess, but that's another story.  No installation disk came with the computer, however, it doesn't have the product key on the back of the case.  I replaced the hard drive with one more great I had on hand and then used an OEM disc 'generic' to reinstall XP, which works perfectly with the product key of the computer.  However, this computer must die, product key can be moved to any other computer.  The product key is the original computer motherboard.

In short, a product key of your laptop if it is by the OEM product key, will not work on another computer.  No matter how legitimate the software's product key will not work on another computer, it is not transferable.  Product keys for the full retail version of Windows can be moved to another computer; However, the key to product can only be used on one computer at a time.  If the computer in question is delivered with Windows XP preinstalled, it is extremely unlikely that nothing else than the version the manufacturer OEM has been used.
