Grant access to an account without password?

Hello

Our Organization has a bunch of passwords for all kinds of accounts (e.g., social media, web administration, etc...). We have a team of consultants, accounts that we work who need to access some of these accounts. Is it possible to give them access to an account without providing the actual password?

Example:

-Hire us a consultant to manage our Twitter account for six months

-We don't want to give them the real password, but still grant them the access somehow

-At the end of the period of six months, we can cut access without having to change the account password

Thank you!

Phillip

If it were possible to simply have anyone access the account, it would be a massive security breach. You will need to visit each service to see if you can add additional users for editing from this account.

The best I can say is that you create a user account on Mac and set up the account for the "consultant" in an appropriate on the Mac application. If the user is familiar with the Mac, they may simply find the password in the keychain & view it, is not a good solution.

Personally, I think that you may need to find a better solution to the management of passwords. It could be much better if you had a central location that staff can see and edit them & you can configure access controls to allow users to access (and revoke when they leave). If the password is synchronized really little matter how many times it is changed, it is just a few clicks away from recovery.

1Password, LastPass and Dashlane have the features like this...

I don't know that too, there are similar services.

Once the consultant leaves you can easily reset the password and all synchronized copies will be updated to other members of staff. It should give you better security (you seem to be avoiding to change the password by fear of having to tell everyone he has changed).
