• T420 Graphics support?

  I recently received a T420 for virtualization in a lab environment.  I do not VDI, but I don't want to run several virtual machines at once, which will be my daily VM.  I have no need of a GPU for thousands of dollars more but I want graphics better than the edge [] most of the servers are given.  No crazy game, but some GPU functions would be nice.  That's the problem.  It seems that ONLY cards that this guy supports are the Q4000 and Q6000 Nvidia cards?  Seriously?  Is this really the case? I don't care about Dell support but I am not allowed to use my graphics for a $100 Best Buy card?  I really hope I'm just something missing.  The T420 allows graphics cards Nvidia Q4000 or Q6000?  If not, what is someone knows why?  What is a bios limitation?  Is this some other limitations of the technique?

  I'm not aware of what we have done to disable not taken in charge specifically video cards, although we certainly cannot guarantee their compatibility or we tested or them validated in all configurations and for this reason, do not recommend. For graphics supported on the T420 (as you correctly identified as the Q4000 and Q6000), you must disable video output shipped from the BIOS/system setup under embedded devices (pg 30-31, support.dell.com/.../T420OMen.pdf ) to get the video output. Note that when you do so, the video output of iDRAC virtual console will not be available until the embedded video is again enabled. I don't know of any reason you can not follow the same steps with an unsupported graphics card but I must stress we do not test or validate it and if it does not you would have any recourse under the guarantee (i.e. not replace us the motherboard for a defective PCI-e port for example). I don't know if PCI-e video passthrough works here, but you may need to configure the SR - IOV (just below the embedded video setting), by the needs of your hypervisor.   If you only run XP and don't have no plan to upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7 and just VGA (not DVI) output, this PCI video card should work for you, and your machine has only PCI slots.

  You will need to read the installation manual on the support page and the driver of your PC because I believe that you need to change a setting in the BIOS to the PCI card to the video card main.

  Or you can search for a similar PCI card with a DMS-59 output with video split cable that goes to two monitors.

  You would go to Intel.

  Supports (or lack thereof) of any material that you connect to your computer running any operating system actually comes of (or does not) the manufacturer of the device physics of said - not the manufacturers of the system in question.

  32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7?

  Although - frankly - looks like you're out of luck.  The manufacturer (Intel) just can not support in this operating system.

  So, again, you can be out of luck to try to launch a new Windows operating system (Windows 7) on a system with this video chipset without just buying another video card and put it in the system if possible.

  Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

  • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
  • Need new card system (Yes),
  • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
  • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
  • Cost of the work.
  • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

  It can be cheaper to buy a new machine.

• Graphical support for linked clones

  I would use linked clones in order to improve the commissioning of virtual servers that share large amounts of common data. I have the budget for upgrading vSphere and/or purchase additional software, and I tried to ask the VMware sales people to get advice on what products would allow management of related clones. The saleswoman, I spoke with possibly suggested vCenter Server v5. My company already uses v4, and I see nothing in it for me to create a linked clone. Maybe it's a new feature in v5, but it is not mentioned in the list of the new features. I think that the seller was probably misinformed about this possibility.

  Does anyone have experience create clones related with a graphical management interface? If so, what is the combination of products VMware would be optimal to allow clones related to a small environment (e.g. 2 physical hosts)?

  If you want to use linked clones, right now your options are to use vCloud Director or VMware View.  There is no support of base level for the creation of a clone that is bound in the GUI (just support of the API for it).

• Windows 8 Switchable Graphics Support for AMD Mobility Radeon and 1st Gen Core i5 Intel Graphics

  Since I've upgraded to Windows 8 my graphics did not work at all (only the work aside Intel). This is a problem because it seems that my HDMI port is plugged directly into my ATI card and with it disabled I can't play half of my games or make use of my HDMI port. I contacted AMD and have tried all their drivers but nothing has worked for the past 3 months. They said that, because Intel is a competitor, the manufacturer must release these new driver updates to manage the two cards. I couldn't find anything to help me with this and I am planning to switch brands because it has been a frustrating experience for me. In addition, I can not install AMD Catalyst Control Center because for some reason it does not recognize my card. If you guys could help me find a solution to this problem or point me in the right direction would be great. Thank you.

  I don't think that HP will develop Windows 8 drivers for your model, but you can try the switchable graphics avaiable to measure on the following link - I would suggest that you read the guide on how to install these drivers correctly.  It is also important to note that the driver signature enforcement is disabled so that these drivers to load, - more details can be found here.

• Need a graphic driver for Satellite Pro L10 to play Caesar IV

  I have problems with the chart to a new game (Caesar IV) element on my laptop. The game requires "hardware T & L" for 3D graphics, but the forum games tells me that computers laptops with the chipsets are not configured to run these types of games. Apparently I need a graphics card any.

  I don't understand why my (relatively) new Centrino laptop with a processor is unable to use the graphic chipset.

  I think that the Caesar IV is a game that requires a graphics card with better performance than the Intel 855GM graphics card with 16 MB to 64 MB shared memory.

  The game asks for the graphics card with graphical support entirely in 3D and in my opinion the laptop card is not able to support these graphics to full power.

  Recently, I've been using Windows XP Professional SP3, and I realized that my on-board graphics card is old. So I decided to buy a new one and replace it.

  The problem is Windows XP only takes to support DirectX 9 .0c and I do not see much cards support this version of DirectX. All I see is DirectX 10 and 11 supported graphics card. And my question is: is DirectX 11 or card 10 graphics support DirectX 9?

  You will need to request support or pre-sales service of the manufacturer of the graphics card in question, or at least show the number of brand and model of the card and see if a reader here wants to do a search for you.  I don't know why but before the sales are generally good to answer questions quickly when there is a potential sale pending...

  If the laptop is the Intel 4th generation Core, processor Celeron/Pentium N and you install W7 64 bit, then use these drivers directly from Intel.

  3 here is the hard to find the USB 3.0 driver... for laptops with processors Celeron/Pentium N (also works for the 4th generation processors).

  You should be able to use the rest of the support for your laptop and driver page.

  Windows 7 32 bit has no driver for graphics supported of a person.

  I even had someone else in the forum try the W8 driver which has support for W8 32 bit and it would not be installed automatically or manually.

  As for your question regarding the upgrade of the GPU. It would normally be at your disposal you have a CTO laptop, but I do not see the graphics chips that support unit that would make a significant difference in your machine. I'm you provide a link to the HP Support document: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide of where if you look on page 3 you will see the graphics supported for your computer.

• Upgrade graphics card suggestions

  Hi all - looking for a few tips:

  HP Slimline s5-1015 t, Win 7 Desktop, 8 RAM, 2.6 GHz - graphics performance is the slowest and I would check with a better card

  NEW - trying to find my post a couple of weeks, and maybe this isn't the way to do a follow-up.

  I just got a new GelForce GT520 graphics card, as suggested, so imagine my surprise when I (finally) open the case and there is no slot where you want to insert the new card (or pull the old one).  In fact, everything is directly out of the motherboard and nothing can be added or replaced except RAM.

  OK, my mistake for not searching first.  I will send back.  But for those who have this same HP desktop computer, it's a lesson to learn.

Please post a photo of the inside of your computer, I can see exactly where the divergence. Please check the specifications of your card mother Carmel HP for a picture of the motherboard.
