GREP to change thousands separator in numbers

I tried to find a simple way to do the following as some of you may have already solved and could lend a hand.

I'm looking to change the formatting for a large number of a European format: 1 000 000 to format base of 1,000,000. Basically, I just need to remove the spaces and then replace them with commas at the level positions without removing the spaces preceding the numbers themselves.

Thanks for any help with this! I'm still learning all this GREP.

  • Thousands separator rejected

I have 3.6 numbers running on a Mac Powerbook.  Is there a way to obtain cells accepted numbers pasted value that contains thousands separator (comma, for example, cut and paste from a financial statement online).  It's silly and also frustrating to have to remove in order to avoid the red triangle format error, when the cell is already set to show it again!

I can copy and paste (for example $23 500,00) from the following sources and just paste the value in a cell to v3.6.1 numbers with the cell format set to automatic. The original formatting is preserved.

    1. A cell of table Pages v5.6.1
      1. To the currency format, 2 decimals, and thousands separator
    2. A table of v5.1.2.2 of LibreOffice Calc cell
      1. To the currency format, 2 decimals, and thousands separator
    3. Text of document Pages v5.6.1
      1. $23 500,00
    4. Text of the document of LibreOffice Writer v5.1.2.2
      1. $23 500,00 < tab > 43,250.33 < tab > 50,000.00
      2. Values passed in three adjacent cells, but only the first value retains its monetary symbol. Other values retain thousands separator and decimal, but cell format for each value is automatic, no change.

    Currency symbol No.

but for all this field displays the value as "1234.00. to remove the zeros, I add javascript for this field: this.getField('1').value = 0 + this .getField ('1') .value; Now it shows as "1234". but I'm always looking for solutions show the thousands separator. Help, please

  • In the world, turning on thousands separator

I have a very simple question that certainly has a very simple answer, but I can't find anywhere in the docs of Oracle or online any response to this...

We want our presentation server OBIEE to always display commas as thousands separator, as reported results are difficult to read without them given the large number we treat. Where can I configure this? I found in localedefinitions where I specify the character to use as the "thousandsSeparator', but I don't find nowhere part how say"use it anywhere.

Thank you 1 million to anyone who can help me here.

    -Jim

In the properties of the columns, data format, replace the default data format and use the thousand separator...
At this point you can save it as: 'Wide by default from the system for 'your column' ' or * 'wide by default in the system for this type of data "*...

  • Change the format of numbers with GREP?

    Hello

I'm sure it's easy, but I just can't get my head around it.

I have a large table in ID4. I need to change all the format of all the more than a thousand numbers.

For example, 1234 becomes 1 234 and 12345 becomes 12 345, but it leaves all smaller numbers (IE up to three digits) that they are.

I've tried a few things, but all fail to get the results I need

    Help!

    Maybe something like this:

    Search: (? )

    Change of: , $0

Run several times to get everything changed.

  • grep to change the sign less parenthesis

I do a lot of tables that come from different data worksheet that displays negative numbers with a sign under or inside the parentheses. For consistency, I would like to be able to change the sign less in parentheses. No chance is something that could be done with GREP?

    as an example:

    taking this-

    -123.00

    -345.00

    678.00

    -910.11

    and turn it into this:

    (123.00)

    (345,00)

    678.00

    (910.11)

    Try this

  • GREP to change paragraph style?

Many people, I have a one for all what you out there smart people. I think GREP can be used to change the formatting in the next instance, but I have no idea how set up.

I have a very long document, essentially a telephone directory of type list of names, telephone numbers, addresses, well over 150 pages. Paragraph styles are fairly simple, two only by registration. The name/phone number is "BOLD", with a tab on the right points pointing to a phone number that is aligned to the right of the column. The following lines are at the same level on the left, not fat, but indented 6pts. I placed the text file and assigned the NameListing paragraph style to the whole thing. I would like to use GREP to find lines of addresses and change the paragraph style NameListingAddress.

Here's a screenshot to give you an idea of screen. The left column is correctly formatted with both styles, the right column is "raw", all paragraphs formatted with the paragraph style NameListing.

What is an application suitable for GREP? If so, how I set it up to only change paragraphs who "do not have tabs? It would save me a crapload of time.

    THANKS again! -Dina

The easy way would be to do the reverse of what you're trying: together all the paragraphs of your NameListingAddress style (rather than NameListing). And then do a plain old ordinary search for tabs, do not put anything in the line of "change of...". "(or put another tab in) but the value of change in Format to the NameListing style paragraph in the context menu. Change (after you have checked some of them to make sure it's doing what you want).

It is probably a way to do this with GREP, but it would be much more difficult.

  • GREP find/change - how to change time of uppercase letters to lowercase?

I'm doing some final, proofreading and correction of the text in a book I helped design.

I've had some success using GREP find/replace.  But I can't make it work in the following case.

I want to do is find all occurrences of 'Nature' and change to 'nature '. (Uppercase to lowercase simple substitution.)

BUT I want to exclude all instances of 'Mother Nature'. (Keep uppercase "n" in Nature.)

Assistance from Adobe, I should be able to use a negative Lookbehind expression.  I tried to type in the search box... Nature(?<!) The mother)

But he finds everything... 'nature', 'Nature', 'Mother Nature', which is not much help.

Can someone please tell me where is my mistake and how to correct?

    Search: (?)

    Replace with: nature

  • How can I add two pages just before page 7 of the book, which will change all the page numbers that follow?

    Hello

I'm close to finishing a book of 257 pages.  All pages are numbered automatically down, and I spent a few weeks carefully constructed an Index at the end of the book that has all the right page numbers listed for everything.  So whatever I do, I can't change my page numbers.

But at this late stage, I would like to add a few epigraphs (quotations) in four or five places (I just got this idea today, I'm afraid).

Is it possible to add a few pages here and there (I will add two pages at a time, I know, or he'll hit all the pages that follow, half of them designed to be left, and half designed to be on the right - off) that are not numbered, and that will not affect the numbering of the following pages?

    Kind regards

    Malcolm

It is not Automatic way. If you are ready to have unnumbered pages which are not included in the number of pages, you can, for each page the inserted value

    (1) select the first page after the pages will be added

    (2) in the menu pages palette, use the Options Section and number and the page number of started with the value what it is already. In this way, adding pages will not affect the numbering.

    (3) in order to avoid conflicts with the new pages page number, set their numbering on something else as 1,2,3. (as i, ii, iii, for example)

For later use, you can configure your index with the indexing of InDesign tools, if a false problem, as you would have been able to add the pages and then re - automatically generate a correct index.

  • GREP for changing the style of paragraphs ending with '='

Hi, I work with a giant list of the names and dates of graduation. Each line ends with a space and an equal sign must have a special paragraph applied to her style. Is it possible to design a "find/replace" for this, instead of manually? I can't understand what would work the GREP search string - I've never worked with him before, and I can't find anything in the lists of the metacharacters that would do the trick. Any ideas?

In find it on the field just type = $ ( means hit the bar to type a space). The $ at the end means the end of a paragraph, so he could find no instance anywere elsewhere in a paragraph, which is the only reason why you have to GREP for that instead of a search of plain text.

Set the paragraph style that you need in the form of the change.

It works only if it IS indeed the end of a paragraph, however. If you have several lines in the same paragraph that ends with =, or more text in the paragraph after the =, you need to show us the structure. Don't forget that the paragraphs can have style single paragraph, applied to the whole paragraph. If you need several styles in the same paragraph, you need to use character styles, which can be applied as nested styles, line styles and GREP styles, or manually, depending on the structure of the text, you have to work with.
