• Problems with separations

  After ten years without problem, our printing has lately been having some problems with the separations that we sent.  The only things that have changed are recently I was upgraded from CS5 to CS6 and printing installed the new RIP software to their offset press.  In short, the problem is that when I export a plate for a single spot color (in the case of PMS Black), my guy at the print shop indicates the file is read as CMYK.  I double checked that all inks other than the tones are disabled in the ink Manager and print in PDF format, but he insists that he gets four plates and that if it prints only the black plate prints it as a screen.

  In my investigation into this, I tried an experiment.  I created a page in InDesign where I placed 2 boxes, we filled a Blue PMS and the other with a green process.  I then printed it in a PDF file as separations with only the blue ink PMS selected.  As expected, this produces a single PDF page showing the box in black with the page title "Pantone blue 071.

  However, when I look at this PDF file in Acrobat, the ink Manager shows no Blue PMS and CMYK channels only.  If I then export separations of Acrobat, it generates a 4 page PDF with 3 blank pages for C, M and Y.  The place that was filled with PMS Blue in the original InDesign file appears in the fourth page (K).  Yet, the box appears as solid black and doesn't look like it should print as a screen.  However, I see nothing in the properties of Acrobat or print dialog boxes which mentions the Blue PMS at all.

  Can someone give me an idea as to exactly what is happening here, so I can advise our workshop for printing on a possible solution?  As I said, for the last ten years I simply separated a task ink by unchecking all other inks in the ink Manager.  I've never had a problem with the PDF file, this is the first time that I had to look that deeply into the process.  For what it's worth, the offset press that they use is a little old and new software RIP that they kept is a KODAK product, even if I don't remember the name right now.  I know if that would be helpful.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance for any help!

  Eureka!  I think I'm on the problem, partially my fault and partly the fault of stores.

  In the past, I was invited to do my own PES before sending jobs to the shop, so I would not out every spot that is own PDF.   This would put all the color information in the black channel of the PDF, leaving channels C, M, Y & empty.   At that point, they would assign each PDF to a different Printhead and run them together, like any other office document.   Their press has only two, so they cannot run 4 color process job and we are talking only about two PDF files.  After reading your answers, it is clearly of Neanderthal, but he's worked for as long as I stayed there.

  Since then, the store has a new Director and it seems he tried to separate my starts.   Because he told me I was sending files 4 colors I don't know why there not ocurr to me earlier.   Given that all PDFs have CMYK channels, there summer saw that and thinking that they are four color jobs, even if all color information is on a plate.   My solution is to upgrade my export in PDF/X-4 format and to make him his own separations.   I sent a test file and he said he was "able to make it work", although he always complained the CMYK channels.   I explained that all PDF files will be CMYK channels and that a work of two colors will separate in four empty plates of CMYK more two plates for the spot.

  Is this sound on the right, or still miss me a part of the image?  I feel like Buck Rogers to wake up to the 23rd century.  Where the hell have I been all this time?  Oh, yes - public service.  Gotta get outta here!

• 3 color separation - viewable problem with high-pass filter help

  I fix a color image created with color separation negatives, 3 images black and whites (captured on photographs) combined in the RGB layers to create a color image. The original negatives have been very badly damaged, so the alignment and the correction was quite complicated.

  I'm finally get closer, but there is still a lot of blotches that I have a problem fixed, where each of the channels have been under/over exposed, creating stained yellow or green, etc.

• still problems with drop-down list fill the Script

  Well, I used the information I got this forum to fill a drop in a repeatable subform with javascript (and it even works with FormCalc) problem solved. But now when I test the script in format acrobat (with calculations) the last item on my list does not seem to be working properly. They are scripted like that on the preOpen event.

  The second issue of additional items in the drop-down list is easily sorted by including a line in the preOpen to clear the list first.

  Regarding the round total, you can do this with script (check "Round" in the help file), but it is not necessary.

  When you have the total selected object, just go to the object/field tab and click models. On the display tab, you can select a model of currency with the currency symbol, the 2 decimal and thousands separator (IF your item is a numeric field).

• Ongoing problems with mail

  I had this problem since, I believe, Mavericks. I don't think that I had the problem with Snow Leopard.

  I have 3.6 numbers running on a Mac Powerbook.  Is there a way to obtain cells accepted numbers pasted value that contains thousands separator (comma, for example, cut and paste from a financial statement online).  It's silly and also frustrating to have to remove in order to avoid the red triangle format error, when the cell is already set to show it again!

  I have unwanted points and lines on the screen and also sometimes the screen is blank or vision pauses for several seconds.

  I have a Toshiba L670-1HD with an Intel HM55 chipset, and an Intel Core i5 460M processor. I use this machine for my music software and that's why I use different audio interfaces external and USB-MIDI-Controller with build in audio interface like Mixvibes U - Mix Control Pro (http://www.mixvibes.com/content/u-mix-control-pro). These built-in audio interface are connected via USB 1.1. Always when I use this audio interfaces interfaces crash audio internalt - the sound is cracked very hard and there are noises in. The controller of all crashes sometimes too.
  When I use another interface audio as an audio interface Hercules DJ Trim 4 & 6 (http://www.hercules.com/uk/DJ-Music/bdd/p/102/deejay-trim-4-6/), which is a USB 2.0, everything works fine. No crashes, no cracks and no noise.
  You could say now that there is no problem and I should stick to the Hercules interface if it does no problem. The problem is that the Hercules is an audio interface only, there is no controller in it with which I can control my music software.

  I've updated all the drivers from the support page of this site without success. Is there a solution available or the Toshiba knows this subject? Am I the only one having this problem?

  It seems silly now, but Toshiba has nothing to do with it. If you have a general problem with the USB ports and they don t work with different devices that Toshiba should ask for help.
