Hi Evilodet,

Is it an external hard drive?

This can occur due to temporary files. I suggest the following steps.

Step 1 : Disk Cleanup

Run Disk Cleanup on drive C and H drive.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

Step 2 : check the disk

1. click on start
2. type cmd in the start search box and right-click on cmd from the top of the menu, and choose Run as administrator.
3. type the following command at the command prompt: chkdsk /r
4. check if the problem persists.

Jump here (nothing Bruce suggested is false), I did a search and found this old article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/245419), which indicates that there is a bad entry under the identity key in the registry (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background).  So if it's a big problem, you can do the steps suggested in this article and that will fix it.  Or if you have just one account, then backup your settings and the identity key and then delete the identity key and then start OE and it will establish a new, and you can then set up your account again, and then import the messages from the older directory.  But it does not indicate the major corruption, so you can just ignore it.

The recovery partition is set by default to have very little free space_and has no negative effect on it or system. However, if you use it to back up files, it could fill to capacity. Do not use for backup. You can also check to see if the System Restore monitors the partition, if so, turn it off. Whatever you do, do not compress the partition. Doing so will serve as recovery to stop working.

    Hello world

Quite desperate for help that I have a looming deadline for a project.

When trying to crop in photoshop, I get an error "Could not complete your request because the"scratch disks"is full". It is on a new machine and nothing similar happened to me before. After display of the drive working in photoshop options, this is my C drive which is my OS SSD and has 114 GB of space.

This could be the cause? I'm confused.

Many many thanks to anyone who can help!

Press and hold down the Shift + Ctrl + Alt keys right after the beginning of the launch of the EP 2

Is the drive in FAT32 formatted accidentally? If so, you can only restore up to 4 GB for a single file. Try to make a TIFF sequence instead. Tip of litte - press the LZW compression checkbox in the options for a lossless compression format, this allows you to keep the path file size down.

  • What to do when the hard disk is full, but is not

I have installed a larger hard drive, installed all my files from a backup disk and now I get the message that my disk is full.what is the cure

What to do if everything you do when you get this message?

It is not completely unknown for an error message give wrong information about his cause.

What process did you use to restore the backup?

If, for example, you backed up and restored as a full score then the restored partition can be the same size as the original, even if there is space on the disk to expand it.

  • Cannot be saved because the disk is full. 144 GB of free

When I try to record a 3 GB Tiff file in Photoshop, I get the following error...

"Cannot save... because the disk is full."

I have 144 GB of free space on the disk, I record and 280 GB of free disk to work.

Try to save as a psb instead of a psd file. If I remember a psd file only supports up to 2GB.

  • PhotoShop won't boot because "scratch disk is full."

When I try to open PhotoShop 7, I have an error message-"unable to initialize PhotoShop because scratch disks are full."  Troubleshooting messages suggest the defragmentation and disk cleanup - I have these regularly perform a certain amount of time per week - but this doesn't seem to help.  I run Windows Vista with 4xRAM and 2 TB of HDD.  Any thoughts?

If Photoshop won't let you put C or D or both as drive work there may be something wrong with you OS configuration.  Photoshop only allow you to configure the mountable devices as 128GB SD cards don't not assigned as working space of devices from local drive as workspace and will not display even as an option.  If C and D are optional, you should be able to erect in Photoshop "scratch disks".  Photoshop supports up to four "scratch disks".  I have only 3 local devices that can be used as workspace.  Normally, I do not have E: assigned as a work for its disk drive external 4 TB usb3.  But I can assign my all of my local disk for Photoshop zero disk space my brackets mounted cannot be used for the workspace...

  • "Could not initialize photoshop because"scratch disks"is full."

"Could not initialize photoshop because"scratch disks"is full." This is the error message that appears when I try to open my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. I just installed this program on my new HP Pavilion model h8-1214, which has 1.8 TB of space with 10.0 GB of RAM. I have read the forums on this problem, but they say how to solve the problem through Photoshop. How can I fix the scratch disk settings without being able to open Photoshop? Please help me with this problem of the Adobe Support team will not even answer my question...

    Thank you.

By far the simplest solution is to upgrade to photoshop elements 10 or newer, which has no problem with big hard drives and has some new features you may like.

It is available for a 30 day trial.

In fact the pse versions 3 and later versions have no problem with large hard drives.

Here are some things you can try that might work:

Option 1: Just after the double click on the PES shortened 2 press the Ctrl + Alt keys and press and hold keys until you get the scratch disk Preferences dialog box

then choose your recovery as the first partition. This only works if you have a recovery partition or another hard drive smaller installed that you can use as the scratch disk.

(I don't have a partition recovery on this computer)

Option 2. Retractable (shrink volume) present HDD up to 1 TB

Option 3: If you have windows 7 pro or ultimate, you can use virtual xp (download from microsoft)

  • iMac won't turn. Startup disk is full. TDM won't let me edit.

iMac won't turn. Startup disk is full. TDM won't let me edit.

My iMac turns off 10 seconds after the start to the top. I tried repair disk running, to no avail. What is happening is because my boot drive is full, off the 500 GB I partitioned in mac, 493,63 GB is taken up. I bought a thunderbolt cable to access the TOC on my mac book, and I have access to my files now. The problem is that I can only copy files. Authorities say I read and write permissions. When I start my host computer, it says "you can still open or copy the files on the disk, but you cannot save changes to the files on the disc. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. "I'm trying to copy all my files on this computer and remove what I don't want copies, then reinstall OSX on my iMac. The problem is that some files are native to all OSX, so it would prevent me from copying the files. For example, if I want to copy my applications folder, it stops to copy once it reached the app store, because it cannot copy that. It is a problem because when it comes to the library, there are small files in there that I don't know if I can copy, then it stops at the copy and I end up with half of my files and I don't know what I need and what I have.

Everything you need to copy the disk, then start the iMac in recovery (command-R) mode. Wipe the drive and reinstall OS X from the recovery console.

  • If time machine is incremental how it removes previous versions when the disk is full, without breaking the chain, so do not be able to restore all changes since the first full file

If time machine is incremental how it removes previous versions when the disk is full, without breaking the chain, so do not be able to restore the file with any changes made since the full backup first file...

If the TM drive storage is full TM automatically deletes the version the oldest files for the new incremental backups can be made. Thus, in this case you cannot restore the versions that TM deleted because it takes more storage.

  • Mac Book Air boot disk is full

My Mac Book Air continuously shows a message that the boot disk is full.  I checked and I don't have a lot of pictures or files, I use iCloud for almost everything and so I don't know what I should delete to free up space.  Has anyone else had a similar message?

In case you're not already aware, if you have the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud drive turned on, everything you add to iCloud reader will have a local copy on your Mac.
