Hard disk size increases with vdiskmanager but no projection in VM itself.

I've increased the size of the hard drive of a virtual computer using vdiskmanager and the parameters of the virtual computer displays now that the maximum size is 100 GB. When I opened the VM and examine the properties of the C:\ drive it still shows that its previous capacity of 10 GB and I still get messages on disk space is low, when I try to download or copy large files on the virtual machine. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

If you want to use the built-in converter (only invited Windows) start here: http://pubs.vmware.com/ws65_ace25/ws_user/newguest_ws_3.html

Short instruction:

Using "file > import or export > Source Type: other > looking .vmx file > choose Select volumes and resizing to save or add space > follow > Destination: other > choose your type of VMware Workstation.

If you have a Linux guest, you must use the almost free selfexplaining Converter (download it here: http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/)

  • Yahoo mail - the font size increases with each 'Enter' - * solution *.

I raise this issue because pending a previous thread on this was closed, and I have a solution that works for me.

The question is in Yahoo mail. When you compose a message in full HTML view, the font size increases with each return (newline or 'Enter').

(It's always a problem from June 2013 and the current version of Firefox for Mac - version 21.0)

The solution that works for me is:

View > Zoom > Zoom text only uncheck

I found another solution because Ctrl-0 (Reset) has not solved this problem for me, no more than to create an exception for yahoo mail. (I only met the problem on yahoo mail).

This is what worked for me: under view/Zoom/Zoom settings (No Squint) / Zoom, I had both the value of 120% of full page and text only zoom levels. Reset the text only to 100% solved the problem. (I then increased the parameter full page 125% and the fix still works).

  • The virtual hard disk size

For worker Analyzer IO VM, it is recommended to create a larger second virtual hard disk that serves as a target IOmeter.

Is the size of the virtual hard drive exactly the same workload working set size, which means that all data in the virtual disk is read from or written to storage during the race?

Do you have other recommendations to decide what size the second virtual hard disk should be a VM worker?

    Thank you

    Rebecca

Hi RS_1, it's useful, but I was looking for some additional tips for the user guide.

I received responses from some of the developers of IO parser and also ran a few tests of my own.

Iometer generates its I/O based on the number of blocks of target disc (i.e. the manually added virtual hard disk on the worker VM).  The size of the disk hard virtual will be be equivalent to e/s working set size.

For a virtual hard drive that strikes only cache, a rule would be its size to 100 MB.

For a virtual hard drive that hits the disk, the virtual hard disk could be sized anywhere from 10 GB to the top. The drive, / o most actually hits disc rather than cache.

To do this, I created a 200 GB thin provisioned virtual hard disk for my e/s VM Analyzer worker. As I ran the Iometer workload, I could see the thin disc quickly increase from almost nothing to its size fully provisioned. This means that the new virtual hard disk sectors were continually being read and written by Iometer. Interestingly, it only took about 5 minutes to flesh out a whole 200 GB drive. Obviously, this speed would depend on the type of I/O profile used.

I also tested a 20 GB disk Iometer vs virtual a virtual drive of 200 GB. Average latency, IOPS / s and flow were all better for 20 GB disk - because a greater proportion of e/s in this case was hit the cache, tilt the numbers positively.

So, even at the drive hard virtual, sizes last 10 GB, size of the VHD will affect yet observed performance to Iometer.

  • Satellite A100-649: upgrade to 250 GB - bad HARD disk size reported

    Hello

Have big problems to insert a new hard drive up to 250 GB.
    (Samsung S - ATA)
The hard drive is recognized by the Windows XP installation in the right size.

In the partitionscreen by installing XP blue only 136 GB are indicated.

    Please help me!

    Hello

You need to format the HARD disk to NTFS.
Please perform the procedure long format.
After Installing Win XP check in disk management settings, the size of the HARD drive.
I noticed that a wrong size of HARD drive could be reported if the HARD drive has been formatted not!

But maybe, there is a limitation of the BIOS and the size of 250 GB HARD drive is not fully supported.

  • It is possible to combine hard disks to increase the space for the C: drive?

My c drive is running out of space. However there enough space in the hard disk in the other readers. Is it possible to combine one or two partitions c and increase the space available in c without formatting. I'm using vista Home premium

It is possible, if you format a partition you want to combine. If you have some data, you can move them to another place or external drive. Then I say you want to combine the D and C drive (you could do it with any other drive):

    1) go to start, then right click on computer and then click on manage

    (2) then find storage-> disk management

    (3) right click on the D drive, then click on remove

    (4) then right click on C, then click on expand

Note that in this case, as I said information on drive D will be lost. So make sure you save them. It might be a question that if you install something on drive D, you will need to reinstall it.

Drive D example right, you have picked any other player.

  • Reinstall CS3 Web Standard after the hard disk crash. Serial number, but check the upgrade is a problem - from Mac to PC, so does not match my product calling (Studio MX Mac)

I'm reinstalling CS3 Web Standard after a hard disk crash. I have my serial number, but after entering, it does a check of upgrade, and at the time wherever I upgraded I also did a single switch from Mac to PC - so my product calling (Studio MX Mac) has a serial number starting with "WSM600"... ", while the upgrade check won't accept - Studio MX Mac is not yet available as an option. This happened once before and I had to work with a representative by phone (I had to click in a hidden part of one of the activation screens to get a number, if I remember correctly), but apparently Adobe that does more. And the page of "www.adobe.com/go/activiation" the phone message directs you to doesn't seem to have an option for this problem either.

So, what is the replacement or her work around this problem now?

    Hi lkauffman,

The serial number must be unlocked for activation.

  • Envy touchsmart 15 - new HARD disk size

I recently ordered a Touchsmart from HP Envy 15-j005sa that has a 1 TB HARD drive. I'm looking to clone the orignial in an mSATA SSD drive so I was wondering what size is recommended.  How much space is used when it is new so using this information can buy a large enough disk size?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

There is that little clone options b clone the HARD disk which means that you have the mSATA SSD equal or more 1 TB (b) clone c ONLY: This means you the mSATA SSD equal or superior to c:... My suggestion: shrink C: for small size say even 60 GB or 120 GB (if you don't have a lot of programs installed) FRONT of clone and ONLY clone C: normally larger (capacity) is better because you can install more programs that him.

    Kind regards.

I have currently a HP Pavilion DV6500 is a bit old but my children use it for learning games and watch netflix. They use on a daily basis. Months ago, the hard drive went out on this issue I tried to take it they told me to just buy a new laptop cost way to much to fix.

The hard drive has a sticker that says "Replace with HP Spare" which makes it means? The laptop was running a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 im looking for a disc compatible hard good which can be integrated in the laptop right now. And a what it cost an arm and a leg.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

    Hello

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

250 GB hard drive for laptop.

The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed from Page 59 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • Comments XP not recognize new allocation of memory and hard disk size

I'm under Fusion 3 on a new IMac 21.5 "running 10.6.1 with 8G of RAM with XP SP3 guest.  Just migrated since late 2006 MacBook 2.06 merger to help Mac running migration wizard, then upgraded to Fusion 3.

Main problem is that when I updated to the size of the hard drive of 40G per 100 G and changed the memory allocation of 2G to 6G, Windows operating system does not change.  Windows reports 3G memory and 40G hard drive.

    Other questions:

OS (or VMware) is also unstable and crashes, sensitive sentence without indicating CPU heavy and sometimes does not restart, requiring force to leave.  Usually, will run 30-45 minutes before crash. One application I run is Revit 2010 (which is also unstable, has just installed service release 2).

Tried to install new comments, but get the message "No boot device" - seen a thread for this and create the ISO image.

David: I can't help you with the RAM, but I had the same problem when I expanded my virtual HD 20 GB to 30 GB.  Windows XP always thought 20GB and called the rest "unallocated space".

There is a beauty of a freeware program called Easeus Partition Master - http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html?tag=mncol%3bpop&cdlPid=10982635.  Run on the Windows side (at least it worked for XP) and it should show 2 discs.  Highlight the one you want to extend, click on (expand / resize), drag the divider to full size of HD and then 'apply' and he has done the partition in about 5 seconds for me.  Problem solved.

  • Qosmio X 500-10T failed to retrieve HARD disk 64-bit with more than 4 GB

Hi all, this problem is driving me crazy, please help someone.

I tried to use HARD drive recovery using the F8 option, but the recovery kept in check and wouldn't start.

On the audit of the bulitins for my laptop (Qosmio X 500 10 t), I found that there was a known error with 64-BIT operating system more than 4 GB, and there was a patch for it here:

    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9C02RL0000R01.htm

The problem is that I downloaded the patch and when I try to run the setup it tells me that the patch cannot be run on an OS Win 7 64-bit. It's a little strange that I'm under Win 7 64 BIT. I tried to run in safe mode without success. I searched the internet for the solution and can not find. Toshiba to this patch release was December 2009 as surely there should be a fix for this. I have no backup discs that I would never use the retrun to the factory settings using the HARD drive recovery.

If anyone else has this problem or has any what ides on what to do please help. I really have to make a recovery.

    Thank you

    Pete

    Hey,.

I think that the easiest way is to remove a memory module, and then restart the HDD recovery. Remove a memory module only takes 5 minutes and I know it s described in your user manual.

Then restart recovery HDDD and installation of recovery should finish correctly.

After that, you can reinstall the second memory module and install the Toshiba page patch. :)

  • Satellite P30 - the Maximum hard disk size

    Hello
I have a Satellite P30-141 with BIOS version 1.40 works with XP pro SP2.
The hard drive is a 60 GB model and I want to move to a larger model.
I think a 160 GB Seagate 5400.3 model but I'm not sure if the BIOS can support such a large unit. Did anyone done this before? What is the biggest player, that you put in your P30?
I also have the Hitachi 7K 100 100 GB as a second option if the Seagate won t work.

  • LabVIEW RT 8.5 puts a limit on the FAT32 partition / hard disk size?

    Hi Reevem,

I did some research on this problem and I believe that 8.5 real-time will not have a problem with larger hard drives. However, you will need to use a 3rd party utlity like our time format disc formatter and Microsoft, will limit the size of partition of 32 GB.

It is also mentioned here that the real-time does not work with a hard drive that is larger than 128 GB. So, I would recommend a smaller drive to 128 GB.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you very much

  • Hard disk partitioning: problems with Windows 7

I bought a new laptop with a disk drive. So I decided to partition my hard drive to use part of it as a return to the top. However, during the process of return my computer off and when I tried to put it on my Windows 7 operating system will not turn on. I guess that some of the OS files have been corrupted, some how damaged or moved. So, how can I solve this problem and get Windows running again?
