Hard drive 100% Windows 8 ALL THE TIME!

Hi all

My computer was working fine on Windows 8 and after that windows update setup it just crashed. When you open the Task Manager, he told me that the hard drive is ALWAYS 100% usage while I have no programs or processes running. I tried to restore windows from the beginning and now I have no programs, software antivirus, absolutely nothing installed and the problem persists.
Appreciate your help, I'm desperate.

Hello Daniel,.

Thank you for your reply,

There may be a possibility of some third-party programs running in the background causing the CPU usage to 100%. AutoRuns from Microsoft is a very complete tool that shows what programs are configured to run during system startup or login and shows treat you the Windows control inputs.

I'd suggest to remove all yellow or red shaded entries that reads (file not found). Also, you can check Disable all non-essential programs of the AutoRun and allowing a identify the one that is causing this problem.

Here is the link of the Windows AutoRuns tool:

https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx?OCID=fwlink

Please feel free to update us with the results. We would be happy to help you further on the issue.

Thank you

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. If the speed is the main problem now, theoretically, upgrading the hard drive would be able to increase the speed up to a point. Of course, this would impact speed of normal programs, programs on the web, etc. I also carefully read the document provided Red Rose, and although it is informative, I don't know about most in this paper has been tried.

Regarding the age of the laptop, age obviously decreases the computer's full performance, and you have little control over this, unless you buy another computer.

I have an idea of how research and troubleshooting have achieved you, but it is only an idea. I'll link some documents with information that you may or may not be useful:

  • Can I have the HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB connected all the time to the laptop?

Hello. I bought a HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB with USB 2.0 to 3.0 running on Windows XP in a Toshiba Satellite laptop since 2003. I had a few problems, probably due to the low speed of my USB port, but now it seems OK, as I moved it to a different USB port according to the instructions for help. My question is if the hard drive has been designed to be connected all the time or if I have to disconnect me and just use it whenever I have store information. Thank you

  • How to install Win7 on new hard drive and still access all the files from the hard drives of previous Vista?

I currently have a Windows Vista PC. It has two SATA drives, one with the operating system, the one I use for storage.

I want to buy a new SATA hard drive and install a new copy of Windows 7 top.

I want to know the steps to follow to do this. My plan is this:

    1. turn the pc power off and open the case.

    2. remove the old hard disks

    3. plug the new empty hard drive

    4. turn on the pc and the insertion of the disc to install to Win7 for DVD-ROM drive

    5. enter in the bios and put the DVD-ROM as first boot device

    6. install win 7 on new hard drive.

    Is this correct?

Because my next question is important:

    7. Turning off the computer.

8 reconnect the two old hard drives. New total number of SATA drives connected = three.

Now when I restart the PC and login to Win 7, it lists two other drives as, for example, D:\ and E:\ readers?

How can I make this work?

    Thank you very much!

Thanks for your reply, but I don't want to dual boot. I just want to have the hard drive as the master drive Windows7 and the old two drives as slaves, where I can access files as the pictures and letters.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Well, I would disconnect all drives hard current interns, then connect the new hard drive, reinstall Windows 7, re - attach the old readers as slaves and copy all the data you need to on the disc of Windows 7.

  • Hard drive not detected 50% of the time to start up

I have a model of Macbook Pro mid 2012 with the following changes:

    • Upgrade to 16 GB Ram
    • DVD player, replaced by Bay and old (existing) 500 GB hard drive for storage
    • Hard drive replaced with 250 GB SSD (Samsung EVO 850)
    • Windows via Bootcamp 10
    • Mac OS X Yosemite
    • Refind installed at startup

Recently, my existing SSD drive gave me a lot of questions - so I'm a new and SuperDuper'ed the existing on it. Formatted the Windows partition and reinstalled Windows 10.

I have 50 GB on the Mac drive and 200 concerts on Windows.

The issue that I am facing is that on every other bootup, the Mac does not detect the hard drive.

If I OPTION-press and hold the button, I see only the 500 Gig data drive (which is not bootable).

Then, I need to restart and COMMAND + R (or D) to enter the internet recovery mode, wait until the choice of network is displayed.

Then when I reboot, I am presented with the original hard drive and multiple start options (Mac / Windows) on Refind.

I don't think it's a matter of refind, as happens even with uninstalled Refind.

This does not happen when I plug my old (SSD by default).

What could go wrong on the new hard drive and I can barely turn the question?

    Thank you.

  • impact of a newly created virtual hard drive (in windows 7) on the ability of system recovery

you are looking for a Recovery Manager questions I found a warning about the Recovery Manager lose functionality after you change the partition of hard disk (HDD) (create/delete partition, volume retraction/extension/delete a partition). as said for example. under http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c0208555

A disk hard virtual is this constraint list too

A virtual hard disk does not actually create a partition on the hard drive

A virtual hard disk allows multiple operating systems to reside on a single host machine. This method allows developers to test the software on different operating systems without the cost or the hassle to install a second hard drive or create another partition on a hard drive.

  • How to switch my system on a larger hard drive without having to reinstall the OS and lose my data?

    replace the hard drive

I'm looking to replace my hard drive but I need all the files it is about it, passing a small hard drive to a larger hard drive. My question is how can I save all the files on the disk and how can I get the operating system on the new hard drive without the original disk

If your current system does not work, there is no need to bother with data backup, installation of applications and get a Windows XP installation CD (although regular backups are important to do as a general practice).

Instead, clone your current hard drive to your new hard drive.  All you need is an external hard drive enclosure and disk cloning software.  In addition, once you have made sure that everything works correctly, put the old drive in the external box and use it for backups.

Some of the cloning apps below are also disk 'images' (e.g. Acronis True Image).  A disk image can be compressed so that, for example 58 GB of data can produce a 40 GB image file.  Some of the apps, and of also can selectively backup specified files.

The housings of external drives more to connect to a USB port.  Make sure just that buy you one with the good 'form factor' (portable = 2.5 inches, computer desktop/Tower = 3.5 inches) and internal drive connector.  Many but not all speakers can deal with SATA and PATA time.

This example (for laptops) is not the less expensive external hard drive enclosure, but it's a decent case that can be used with either SATA or IDE (PATA) drives and comes with its own software package of cloning: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602

It is a very good buy for a drive IDE (PATA) Office size: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602

In general, Newegg is a good place for your search options by looking at the comments by users.

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

    Acronis True Image Home
    EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper
    Norton Ghost

    XXClone

Now, I'm administrator (locked) - turn off when I pop in the recovery CD. Message: Your account has been disabled. Please, see your system administrator. I tried Safe Mode and loading Windows files stops at crcdisk.sys all the time and then restarts and displays: Windows could not complete installation. Please install again. Can't go in the office. I ordered this CD of recovery on their part and he got yesterday. Now, they send in the laptop. So tried advice here. Please notify.

I found the answer. HP Tech Support Chat did not know the answer. When you run HP recovery CD, don't hit the restart WINDOWS button when it asks. The software will do it for you automatically. It will take a while (several hours 1-6 hours) to complete. You'll know it's done when WINDOWS ask you information of language, country and keyboard. In other words, don't touch anything once you start the restore CD program. Leave it alone and it will fix it for you. IGNORE the pop-up restart.

I can't believe HP has not even tell me that and 3 chat sessions with them was a waste of time. Last HP person ask me to send in the RECOVERY CD and the laptop.

No help from anyone on this issue. :(

  • W7 100% CPU all the time - what can I do about it?

Hi and thanks in advance for the help. My computer has very little memory, so I keep it really clean. Do just about everything with him, it is browse the web and stream media. Recently, it has been very slow, and Firefox (49.2) has suspended all the time. At first, I thought it was Firefox, and I followed all of their instructions to identify the high resource using plugins, etc. I deleted the history, ran CCleaner, etc.. Then I realized that even if I close FF I always see spikes frequent (approximately five seconds) to 100% CPU usage, and it often extends by 50% even if I don't do anything. I ran Avast and Malwarebytes and MSE - full scan with each of them and none of them found nothing. Is it possible that my computer resources is hacked and used by someone else?  As for mining bitcoin or something else?  How I understand this and stop it?  If it is little likely, what can I do to improve performance. It seems kind of ridiculous that open a document or a web page to "forever".  Even to write this post, I type, and then look at the screen, while the letters slowly appear...

Not sure what is relevant for the problem, but I have 4MB of RAM, but the single 80 GB hard drive (hope I said that right), which only 29GB is free. Right now I am 1480 Cached, available from 1725 and ~ 320 is free, there are 69 total running processes. The only applications that are running are FF and two documents LibreOffice.  I checked a few days ago, and the system says that I don't have to defragment.

I don't even know if all this has nothing to do with the peaks of the processor, so it's how little I know!

    Any help is very appreciated!

Try running task Mgr, looking for running applications, locate the (s) using all the resources, R.click on this subject,

Properties, see what/why use that much... In addition, 69 process is quite a bit, will try to run or cmd,.

type: services.msc scroll through, double click on one, properties, clear the value or manual start. Manual start

Are available on request. Also, open the event viewer, get the details of the operating system, looking for event/warning,.

R.Click, Properties. Also streaming video uses a lot of pc resources.

  • Upgrade to Win 8.1 the fan runs all the time and Raw (Silkypix) converter consume 100% CPU resources

Hi, after upgrading to win 8 to 8.1 win my converter (Silkypix) raw program running extremely slow and consuming 100% of CPU. VAIO all updates completed, all Win 8.1 updates made. ATM Radeon HD 7500 M / 7600M (Maj) with 2 GB RAM dedicated.

In addition, the fan works almost all the time that was not the case with Win 8.

Vaio SVE1712Z1EB with 8 GB of RAM, i7 processor execution.

SeanQ, after some time looking for a solution I finally found it on one of the vaio sites forum: it is the Radeon driver that must be installed from the Vaio support site. NOT the driver the latest AMD site. It does not solve the problem.

I did as follows: device, graphics card, Uninstall Manager. Did not help. Went to AMD in Program files. Setup.exe has begun, but instead of installation, clicked on uninstall. In this way, I uninstalled the driver former AMD and bad news from the site of AMD. I had to manually uninstall the driver in Device Manager, several times. Finally, I went to the site of Vaio and tried updating the driver. He failed. Reset. Manually start the update of the Vaio AMD driver. Finally it worked.

The fan is now more or less normal speed.

Overall, I spent 15 hours looking for this solution. How much is my time worth? Just joking, I'm happy that I found the solution.
