Performance of the hard drive, runs at 30% all the time; slow response

Pavilion Slimline works 30% all the time, slow at times, all the time. Run the Task Manager, identified all of the questions.

Defragmentation, historical, navigation can be run. Registry cleaner also run.

Still slow responses,

Suspect still running games, must stop them, as well as other unnecessary programs.

Any suggestions, useful, believe, this will solve the problem and improve poor performance.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. If the speed is the main problem now, theoretically, upgrading the hard drive would be able to increase the speed up to a point. Of course, this would impact speed of normal programs, programs on the web, etc. I also carefully read the document provided Red Rose, and although it is informative, I don't know about most in this paper has been tried.

Regarding the age of the laptop, age obviously decreases the computer's full performance, and you have little control over this, unless you buy another computer.

I have an idea of how research and troubleshooting have achieved you, but it is only an idea. I'll link some documents with information that you may or may not be useful:

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll do my best to help you.

  • Error #2041: File that a single browsing session can be performed at the time

    Hello
I posted this question before, but so far he went unanswered. I would appreciate any help on this:

My application allows user to do two loads of single or multiple files. There are buttons for each type. Whether you tap on an instance of the FileReference or FileReference class is created.

It works fine only would be - this one type of successive additions: only of files only single or multiple files. BUT every time that I go from one type to another (I start downloading single files and then press the button to download several ones) I get the following error:

Error #2041: The file that a single browsing session can be performed at the time.

How close or delete file browsing sessions? The complete event doesn't do much of anything on this topic.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Temudzin,

Thanks for your suggestion and thanks for looking into this... It works the way you suggested. However after some troubleshooting I discovered that you can do the single and multiple downloads without having to charge the flash.

First of all, once you start download again (or several), you must create a new instance of the class appropriate download (FileReference or FileReferenceList respectively). You will need to make sure that when the downloaded files are complete do you this null instance. This command removes the browsing sessions open.

With the class instance done upload null the next time that you want to download something, you're basically starting from scratch - and that's why you create a new instance of with any new attempt to download download.

This is necessary only if you're allowing users to either single or multiple downloads at the same time. If you stick to a single type of downloads (single file or multiple files at any time) you can simply declare the instance of class once and do not need to make null at the end of the download process.

OK, take care and thank you.

  • T30 slow performance - hard drive running constantly - you clean the machine

    Hello

I had to reinstall Windows XP from scratch some time ago.  In doing so, my system is now very slow (everything - loading programs, browsing, startup, etc.) even with no charge additional software other than Windows itself with all service packs and updates installed.  I reinstalled several times with the same result.  I have 384 MB of RAM and that you have defined a 512 MB Windows swap file.  The hard drive light is almost constantly on.  It's same with no antivirus software - if I load my machine becomes completely unusable.  I loaded all the latest drives using the Configuration of ThinkPad utility so I should be aware of the drivers.  IBM/Lenovo factory-loaded some specific software (management of the CPU, etc.), as I'm missing when I reinstalled?  I tried everything, but it works just like a dog.  Any ideas...?

    Thank you

    Gary

    Welcome to the forum!

384 of RAM is not enough to run XP correctly on your ThinkPad. I suggest upgrading at least 1 GB.

On other issues: you are using XP mode "classic"?

Also, is your CPU value "maximum performance" in the BIOS?

Good luck and let us know.

  • Hard drive 100% Windows 8 ALL THE TIME!

    Hi all

My computer was working fine on Windows 8 and after that windows update setup it just crashed. When you open the Task Manager, he told me that the hard drive is ALWAYS 100% usage while I have no programs or processes running. I tried to restore windows from the beginning and now I have no programs, software antivirus, absolutely nothing installed and the problem persists.
    Appreciate your help, I'm desperate.

    Hello Daniel,.

    Thank you for your reply,

There may be a possibility of some third-party programs running in the background causing the CPU usage to 100%. AutoRuns from Microsoft is a very complete tool that shows what programs are configured to run during system startup or login and shows treat you the Windows control inputs.

I'd suggest to remove all yellow or red shaded entries that reads (file not found). Also, you can check Disable all non-essential programs of the AutoRun and allowing a identify the one that is causing this problem.

Here is the link of the Windows AutoRuns tool:

Please feel free to update us with the results. We would be happy to help you further on the issue.

  • Can I have the HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB connected all the time to the laptop?

Hello. I bought a HP Portable hard Drive 500 GB with USB 2.0 to 3.0 running on Windows XP in a Toshiba Satellite laptop since 2003. I had a few problems, probably due to the low speed of my USB port, but now it seems OK, as I moved it to a different USB port according to the instructions for help. My question is if the hard drive has been designed to be connected all the time or if I have to disconnect me and just use it whenever I have store information. Thank you

  • Why are JPEG images on the hard drive of my computer all of a sudden now Virgin?

JPEG images on the hard drive of my computer are now white (it reads 0kb and the tile is missing) and when I go to open it in Windows Photo Viewer, it gives me an error saying that there is not. I noticed that it happens to almost all of the photos that I have edited in Lightroom 5. I shot an entire season of football last year, all in JPEG format and with my guards, I advanced and edited in Lightroom and now they are virgins. I never moved my photos anywhere. I turned the game in November, created the folder for this game, and that's all. I'm almost a year more later to print them for my portfolio and the file is missing! Lightroom can show the photo, but I can't make adjustments in the develop module because the file is blank on my computer. The weird part is that the sticker is there, the number of correct image is there, and when I click to display in the Explorer in Lightroom, it pulls up the JPEG right, if the location is OK in Lightroom, just no thumbnail image and no image size when I go to open it using the Windows Photo Viewer. I checked the other games that I shot and it's happened to almost all games.

If you have pictures on your camera cards, then of course you can simply copy them to the appropriate locations.

There are plug-ins in Lightroom that can recover the preview using Lightroom, but these will be smaller and lower in quality than the original. Perhaps one of our plug-ins experts can suggest the good plug-in.

If the hard drive goes really wrong, as I suggested, you definitely want to be replaced. If this is the case, you won't continue to use it. You might want to run some diagnostic disk on this subject.

  • Hard drive being highly accessible all few seconds, although it is, the computer crashes

Since about 3 days (or at least that is the oldest I noticed it, but he couldn't have done it much earlier) my computer was freezing for 3-4 seconds, while the hard drive turns on solid. This occurs regardless of whether the computer is nothing or not constantly every few seconds. I went around the internet looking for ideas, but nothing I tried to (disable superfetch, windows search, start in safe mode, update drivers, looking for the raid drivers, disarm avg, defragmentation and simply drop each program without importance, I can get away with) had no effect.

The computer is an Alienware M15x, I got less than two months ago (totally awesome Christmas gift). It has Windows 7 Home Edition premium on it, a hard disk of 500 GB that says all diagnostics works very good and 6 GB of ram, I had AVG Antivirus on it too (until I took it in the attempt to solve this problem), and the protection of the system (the backups and whatnot) was already disabled. I also did a restore system before it started doing this, but which did not help either.

The only problem it says that appears when I generate a health report to the system that is the disk queue length average 2-3 and going as high as 30. I can sit and watch points every 2-3 seconds since the resource monitor, which coincides with the HDD light will the computer crashes. It does even in safe mode, and it made all the games freeze market too.

I'm completely at the end of my tether here and nothing I tried worked, is there something I'm missing here?

Absolutely nothing worked, I'll try to reinstall windows, and if that does not do, Alienware will repair this one way or another. Thanks for the suggestions so.

    (edit a few hours later)

I reinstalled, and it always does, so the hard drive needs to be spoiled. guess I must return.

  • How to install Win7 on new hard drive and still access all the files from the hard drives of previous Vista?

I currently have a Windows Vista PC. It has two SATA drives, one with the operating system, the one I use for storage.

I want to buy a new SATA hard drive and install a new copy of Windows 7 top.

I want to know the steps to follow to do this. My plan is this:

    1. turn the pc power off and open the case.

    2. remove the old hard disks

    3. plug the new empty hard drive

    4. turn on the pc and the insertion of the disc to install to Win7 for DVD-ROM drive

    5. enter in the bios and put the DVD-ROM as first boot device

    6. install win 7 on new hard drive.

    Is this correct?

Because my next question is important:

    7. Turning off the computer.

8 reconnect the two old hard drives. New total number of SATA drives connected = three.

Now when I restart the PC and login to Win 7, it lists two other drives as, for example, D:\ and E:\ readers?

How can I make this work?

    Thank you very much!

Thanks for your reply, but I don't want to dual boot. I just want to have the hard drive as the master drive Windows7 and the old two drives as slaves, where I can access files as the pictures and letters.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Well, I would disconnect all drives hard current interns, then connect the new hard drive, reinstall Windows 7, re - attach the old readers as slaves and copy all the data you need to on the disc of Windows 7.

    See:
