HD cleaning, clear 'installed' updated?

You see not what I need, then... I ask ;)

Cleaning of my HD and when I see an update is a security update, or an update of the program... when it is such that it is "installed", I can't get off right?

I'm a sense of remove programs section in the control panels... I want to just make sure that it is the "shell" update and will not affect the program, etc...

TIA to ALL!

You should not remove installed updates because it would leave your system vulnerable/unpatched.

BTW - what operating system of Windows including Service Pack level are you using?

  • Guard re-setting to update Windows Update Vista SP1 successfully, but it never appears in the list of installed updates!

This happened for months and I just found out 3 days ago.  If you look at the history of the update, you see that SP1 has been installed successfully for 14 months (more than 50 successful install of SP - 1).  I was prompted to investigate the automatic update of Windows, is that it takes forever for this system to stop and start.  He is constantly confuguring or install updates and there is no stopping it most of the time.  I can't seem to get it to start in SafeMode as he zips through even if the f8 key is pressed and causing a beep.

At first I restored to an earlier point, but noted that there was very little to choose restore points.  I contacted HP and they recommended a difficulty of their site that helps with updates.  I ran and persistent .net updates succeeded (However, he is the one who seems to be back).  I ran the program of preparation for Service Pack 1 on the site of Ms.  I ran the program fix - it on the site of Ms.

    Can someone help me please?

You may encounter temporary connection related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Vista firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

  • XP - cannot install updates

I have updated to notify but not download or install.

On the last two occasions 'Patch Tuesday', I was advised again
updates, click on the icon/bubble and then selected "Download" - nothing
    is happening.

I make sure that all boxes updates is ticked/checked (they are by default)
and I have an internet connection.

Initially, I assumed that the server is busy, but after waiting an hour or two I
had to go to the MS update page where I can download and install
without problems. During this process, the Update icon appears in the
notification area saying that updates are ready to install, just as I
expect after clicking on 'download '.

The situation is the same for the last batch of updates.

No idea why in THE fails to download after notification?

Well, my updates finally downloaded and installed, and I found a plausible explanation for the delay, at least for my computer.

The Windows Update log in my Windows folder contained many entries saying "updated by an update that is regulated and can not download" and "the update takes precedence regulated and can not download.  Through the research forum has led me to a thread posted in October, which explains the issue clearly enough of these phrases.

If you disable Microsoft Update updates poster will never be. What is happening is that the updates are regulated so that the update servers are too taxed. After all, all Windows computers in the world cannot be updated at once, right?

If you check WindowsUpdate.log, located in Windows, you will see an entry like the one-

2010-10-12 11:41:13:046 1308 9e8 DnldMgr rules: {7971F918-A847-4430-9279-4A52D1EFE18D}-FF20EB09-05D5-42A9-A007-11CC4E70885C update is the'Priority' regulated and can NOT download only . The 8071 sequence vs AcceptRate 2525.

If you disable Microsoft Update and then the next time you activate your system will again "set priority " and will have to wait his turn to receive actually.

The latest entries are at the bottom of the journal. Start here and see if there is a similar entry in WindowsUpdate.log on your system.
If there are similar entries all I can say is that you be patient and wait until they arrive or manually download and install updates from the Microsoft Download Center or from the Microsoft Update Catalog . To the Download Center, enter the number of the update, and then click the magnifying glass icon to start the search. For the MU catalogue, either enter the number or the Security Bulletin number.
All the Security bulletins can be found hereand also contain links that allow once to manually download the updates go MS Download Center.

I just got an error yesterday, on 9 November, that windows could not download automatic updates so I clicked on the Update icon in my system tray and tried to run the updates manually.  I got the Error 80070426 and with repeated tests there I cannot get updates.  According to the automatic updates, I have not received new updates since October 10.

I also checked my security settings and noticed that my Windows Defender has been exceeded.  If I try to update Windows Defender, I also have an error saying that it cannot be updated with the error code 0x80070426.

I looked at the code Error 80070426 on knowledge base and followed the steps here to try to fix.  Disk cleanup has no effect.  Whenever I try to validate my copy of windows, it says:

This copy of Windows has failed the genuine validation.

An unauthorized change was made to your Windows license or software installed on this computer is not currently compatible with Windows Vista.

I tried to run as administrator command prompt and get an error for this as well.  It is said: The Software Licensing service could not be started.  A system error has occurred.  2 system error has occurred.  The system cannot find the specified file.

This computer was originally shipped with XP, but earlier this year, I installed Vista with a copy bought in the store after I had problems with my operating system and could not run the XP restore disks sent to me by HP or those that I did after that I bought this computer.  When I first installed Vista the computer has a large.  However, after about 2 months, I started to have the blue screen of death, and my computer shuts off and restarts automatically when the blue screen comes up.  I was never able to locate files error on my computer so I do not see what is causing the blue screen and the screen is not upward on my computer... maybe it's here for a second before a restart of my computer.  I don't know what is causing my computer to act like that.  I ran all kinds of virus scans, ad-aware scans, keylogger scans, etc., and nothing ever comes I have a Trojan horse or any kind of virus.  Either something is seriously steeped in this machine that I was unable to find or my system some how became unstable at any given time.

You can give me any help would be greatly appreciated because at this point, except to buy a new computer or do a complete OS reinstall again once I'm all options or ideas.

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:
