Help calcutions both in LiveCycle Designer

Hello

I have a leave request form which has options in time to the days and hours, but I can't find a way to calculate the total.  For example, if a person is request vacation time they request a "date from" and a "' accumulation of 8 hours per day, however no Saturday and Sunday; and hours for partial days, and then it is the total number of hours.  How can I enter this calculation if either are selected or both?  Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer YOU and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I recently bought Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it came with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.  When I create a new document with Acrobat 9, it takes me right in LiveCycle for design, which doesn't bother me.  However, the properties of each field are very limited in comparison with Acrobat 9.  So, the file I created with LiveCycle I want to be able to reopen with Acrobat 9 and reach the field with Acrobat 9 properties, but the system, I cannot do.  What I am doing wrong?

To force uppercase, enter the following text in the change like JavaScript event (make sure JavaScript is selected in the drop-down list top-right language):

    XFA. Event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase ();

As you can see from the picture, there are a lot of palettes available on the right side to change fields. I hope this helps.

  • Cannot select or edit text fields in LiveCycle Designer

    Greetings!

I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I need to change the header text in this PDF file, so I tried to do in Acrobat PRO, who said: "this shape can be changed in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to modify this form. "I had a trial version of LiveCycle to see if I could change it. But when I open the PDF in LiveCycle, I can only change the entry fields. All labels, all text, headers are not editable. I can't select it, I do not see in the hierarchy PDF either. Half of the Edit Menu is grayed out. Impossible to copy or anything else. Please help me understand why this happens. If you need the original PDF, let me know, I can send it to you. Thank you.

It seems that this form has been created using a layout fixed, probably to a PDF file created from Word. Therefore, you need to recreate the work or find the original file (you can not change it in LiveCycle), then use the work of replacement function in LiveCycle.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer & Mac?

    Please help me understand this:

    I have a Mac.

I have Acrobat Pro XI creative cloud.

There is a button in Acrobat Pro XI that says «Edit text & Images»

When I press this button, it says

"This shape cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to modify this form. »

It is a software that is not available on Mac, OK?

I hope that I don't need to indicate in detail how useless / lazy is the design of the user experience.

Instead, there are questions, so many questions:

    1. Why is there a button that does nothing.

2 the help text for the button that does nothing why I use software that I can't run.

3 are seriously assert that Mac users cannot edit a PDF file using your software?

    First part of a list:

-You try to edit a document that is an XFA form created in FormsCentral or Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

-Acrobat cannot change this document type for a good reason.  If that were the case, it would break the XML provided in an XFA form associations.  So, it is protected by changing permissions that don't allow Acrobat to edit.

-If you need to modify this document, you actually need Adobe LiveCycle Designer, or FormsCentral.

    Second part in another list:

-Normally "Edit text and Images" allows you to edit a form or a PDF file created in Adobe Acrobat.

-It's actully a very useful tool in most cases.

  • How to get forms to ignore the default text in the fields during the validation of LiveCycle Designer

    Hiya,

I'm test ss4 Designer to create a simple form that is submitted by e-mail.

Everything works except for my text boxes...  They are implemented in the form of required fields, but because I've included the text by default with the instructions, if you press on submit without changing the fields, they will not validate as empty and does not throw an error message.

I searched the forums all day for a fix, but I'm too new to understand where to put the code, etc.  I tried to add

' text {! = placeholder}' in the validation box but model that does not work...

All I have is LiveCycle Designer and I'm on windows 7.  Thanks for your help!

    Hello

There is a script editor.  If you select the field, then you will be able to select the event in the 'Show' taking place (above the 'Design' tab), and then the code window will be active and you can enter your code.  You can extend the default value of a single line.

  • How can I use a script in a Livecycle Designer form, to force the display of text in title case?

    Hello

I'm a 'newbie' who's DIY'ing the construction of a dynamic form using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7 (I know it's a VERY old version!)

[Thus, any aid that arrives must be "for Idiots"!]

I need to build a code (Java script?) so some of my text fields DISPLAY data in the case of title - no matter how the user types in the data.

Thus, for example, in a text field "address"...

    If someone types in...

    "sherborne 205 avenue.

    -OR-

    "205 Sherborne avenue"

    -OR-

    '205 SHERBORNE AVENUE'...

I need the data to be DISPLAYED ESSENTIALLY as...

    "205 Sherborne Avenue".

I found the following online and tried code in the event "output" of the field that I need to change (with 'language' chosen as JavaScript)...

    < this.rawValue = this.rawValue.replace (/ \b([a-z])/g, function (_, original) {return initial.toUpperCase () ;});})   >

... Was done to convert all the 'initial' words in uppercase letters - as LONG as they have not ALL typed in capital letters!

Thus, this code has worked for the first two of my samples for Sherborne Avenue above - but it has NOT worked for the last...

"205 AVENUE of SHERBORNE" does NOT get converted to title case - which is what I need help.

    Thanks in advance...

I divided it in multimuple lines, but you could do without doubt in one if you wish

    var sometext = this.rawValue;

    someText = sometext.toLowerCase ();

    this.rawValue = sometext.replace (/ \b([a-z])/g, function (_, original) {return initial.toUpperCase () ;});})

    Hi Manjeet,

It is just like Acrobat, but to reference the object app designer that you use event.target forms.  Thus, in the docReady event.

    Event.Target.Zoom = 400;

    or width,

    event.target.zoomType = zoomtype.fitW;

  • PDF of LiveCycle Designer file size

    Hello.

I have installed trial of LiveCycle Designer ES2 (v9.0.0.0.2009...).  I created a seemingly simple PDF form, but the file size is greater than 1 MB.  Is it "normal"?  It seems like it might / should be only a few hundred KB, if that.

    Hi Srini,

This bug has been fixed in a previous version, so shouldn't be a problem in the ES2.

One thing to keep in mind is that by default LC Designer incorporates fonts in a form (see file > form properties > Save Options). This does not add too much to a form, if you use an efficient police force such as Myriad Pro. However, if you use other fonts, such as Times New Roman, then this can add several hundred KB.

Also if you use images in the form, then uncheck the embed images in the object > field palette. The image will still be available when the user opens the form in Acrobat/Reader, but will be more effective.

    Hope that helps,

  • Benefits of Adobe Digital Enterprise - Designer on LiveCycle Designer

I would like to know what the benefits of Adobe Digital Enterprice platform Designer on LiveCycle Designer?

Can we change digital platform file with LiveCycle Designer?

    Hello

Here are my top 10 favorite new ADEP Designer (for example version 10): http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/top-10-adep-designer-features.html.

Also have a look at some examples of files here: http://assure.ly/rqCuEn (Please note the hat, you will need to open these files in Acrobat X / Reader X (for example version 10).)

You can change an XFA form in the designer of the LC, which had initially been created in the ADEP Designer 10. But the new features will be unavailable, opened in an earlier version of the designer.

    Hope that helps,

  • Help required to choose the designer of Livesycle or any other

    Hi

I am working on a project of web based Government developed using J2EE. Forums are pretty useful. I need help from your team choosing products adobe for our requirement.

We have a requirement in which we want to give a form offline to users of the client. (Unlimited)

Then, we wanted to give the provision the user to download the form in the customer Web site.

Finally retrieve us the data from the form and store them in DB.

For the prescription above I thought to use Adobe LiveCycle designer. Once the form is designed and sent to end-users,

    1. how the user can save the form.

    2. it can save the form to PDF / XML or in any other format that it can download from the site.

3 is there a provision to get the fields in pdf form by calling request.getParameter () in HTML forms is how to read form in JAVA is to say like.

    (Including images)

Once I get the fields of the form in Java, I can store in DB.

Please help in this regard and to offer the right product for our needs.

Once this is done, then assess us and plan to purchase

    Thank you

Designer would create a PDF file that the user could load in their Reader or Acrobat. The PDF would be either the data input by the user (XML) or PDF to your web server for the treatment of post like an HTML form). The ability to present outside of the browser and the ability to allow users to partially drop the form and save work in progress and users use drive then you would require LiveCycle Reader Extensions enable the features of the player. Once you decide what you send, then you would enter the presentation into your program Java the same way you would for a HTML presentation.

I suggest you contact your Adobe representative to discuss more in detail.

  • What is the latest version of adobe livecycle designer for mac?

    Hello guys,.

I am new to Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

Can someone guide me what is the latest version for Mac

    Thanks in advance.

    Concerning

    HARI

    Hi HARI,.

Yes, this short video shows Designer LC (although an earlier version).

The video shows how to create a dynamic form, where you can add and remove items at time of execution and other dynamic features. Develop this type of form, you will need to LC Designer ES2 (current version: 9). as I said it works on Windows, so you would need a virtual machine on the Mac to run Windows.

LC Designer is bundled with Acrobat X Pro for Windows (note it does NOT come with Acrobat X Pro for Mac). See http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html.

You must also take into account what your users will have to fill out the forms: Acrobat or Reader. There are some features that are not available in Reader unless you drive to activate the form. For example users with reader will not be able to save their data in a form that has no active drive.

More information on that here: http://assure.ly/gYyYc2

You can also see some forms of short excerpt here, which will give you an idea about some of the dynamic features: http://assure.ly/eEPuCM. All the these were created with LC Designer.

Forms created in LC Designer are according to the XFA specification. They are wrapped in a PDF wrapper that allows then to be opened in Acrobat/Reader. However, they are not like a standard/native PDF and some features of Acrobat Standard, as his comments are not available.

You can also create forms directly in Acrobat, these are called AcroForms. They can be used to collect data, but don't usually have the same level of dynamic behavior that you saw in the video.

There are many examples on the forums, then I recommend that you explore these before making any purchase. There may be a learning curve, depending on whether you have scripted before.

    Hope that helps,

    Niall

  • If I use the adobe reader 7.0 software to open LiveCycle Designer ES2, what will happen?

    Hello

I intend to recommend adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 as a software designer of forms for a client company. But it seems that the client always uses the old version of adobe reader 7.0.

So I need to know that it is essential to use the adobe reader 9.0 for designer ES2 software and if Adobe reader 7.0, this problem would happen?

It is very useful, if there is detailed information on this subject.

    Thank you

    Shoku en

    Hello

When you design a form in LC Designer ES2, you can set the version target of Acrobat/Reader software in the file > properties > default values tab.

While you can target v7, be aware that some features in LC Designer ES2 is not supported in Reader v7. For example in LC Designer, you can define the presence of an object "(screen visible only)", but it is not supported in Reader v7, so would cause a problem. So for each form you will need to set the version of the target, and then check the warnings palette to see if there are problems.

See the post by John Brinkman discussing Acrobat X, as it's a very handy table for the versions of the specification of the designer/XFA LC and Acrobat/Reader: Acrobat X and XFA 3.3

    XFA Version Acrobat/Reader
    2.1 6.02
    2.2 7.0
    2.3 7.0.1 7.02
    2.4 7.0.5, 7.0.7
    2.5 8.0
    2.6 8.1, 8.1.1
    2.8 9.0
    3.0 9.1, 9.2, 9.3
    3.3 10.0

You can see there are a lot of changes around v7 and if the user has v7.0.7 Reader, you can use the features of 2.4 XFA specification.

The other question to know is that users with the player will NOT be able to save data in the form, UNLESS the form has been enabled for reader until the form is deployed.

The form can be active player in two ways:

    • Using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v7 or v8. A license restrictions, see the EULA.
    • With the help of a server product called Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2. Extra charge.

Here is a summary of the options available for users with the player, depending on whether the form is activated to drive AND how she has been activated:

There is a post here and a summary in PDF:

    http://assurehsc.IE/blog/index.php/2010/05/using-LiveCycle-Forms-in-Acrobat-and-reader/

    Hope that helps,

  • Books or guides for Livecycle Designer

    Hello

as I created forms with Adobe Livecycle Designer, this forum is a great help! However, I was looking for a book or manual about Livecycle Designer. There are several of them, but can anyone recommend a specific book?

    Thank you

    Erik

    Hi Erik,

I strongly recommend to create dynamic with LC Designer Forms by JP Terry - excellent!

A book that does not deal with scripts at all, but is very good is the fact that the work by Caroline Jarrett and Gerry Gaffney.

The Adobe PDF Forms Bible is correct, but focuses mainly on AcroForms.

WindJack Solutions have a service on subscription for the scripts and solutions to http://www.pdfscripting.com. There a lot of AcroForm script which can be modified according to LC designer and a growing library of LC Designer solutions.

Here are some online resources you might find useful:

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/Acrobat/PDFs/lc_migrating_acrobat_xmlform.PDF

And a very convenient resource (and even if it's for version 6, it is still very good because of the way it is presented):http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/CalcScripts.pdf

There are solutions on the Adobe cookbooks: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/livecycle_designer_es
