Help! I can't download anything!

How do I fix this so I don't get this message and you can download it again? don't have also no disc model is 15 years old and I don't know even where to start.
the error message is:
the encodepointer entry point not found in dynamic bindings KERNEL32 library. DLL.

EncodePointer was introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2.  I guess that you do not have Service Pack 2 or later installed.

You can check this by right-clicking on "My Computer" and choosing Properties.  It will tell you which version of Windows XP, you have installed and service pack (if any) that you have installed.

If you do not have SP3 then:

You can download the full Windows XP Service Pack 3 from Microsoft here:

http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

It is 316 MB and may take a long time.  Of course, you said that you can not download files so you need someone else to use a computer that works and to put this file on a CD or something to you you use on the broken machine to try the update.

That said, your computer is old FIFTEEN YEARS so that even breathe on this subject, especially installed a major service with no Windows CD package, is risky. :)  If you decide that it is worth a try, I backup the data that I was interested and then install SP3 to see what is happening.
