  • ACR vs Lightroom

I have Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2.x (and beta 3).  I just bought a camera that is not supported in CS3 but Lightroom can open RAW files.  Lightroom warns me when I open a RAW for the PS file I have the version of ACR will not open the file.  That suggests to me that if I had CS4 ACR would treat the conversion rather than LR.

So my question is: is there a difference between the LR RAW conversion and conversion RAW ACR?  I get the best quality conversions if I buy CS4?

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

There is a big difference between Camera Raw 4.x tends in Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2.x based on camera Raw 5.x found in Photoshop CS4. It is because there is a difference of full version between the ACR 4 (Lightroom 1.x) pipeline and ACR 5 pipeline (Lightroom 2.x)...

However, you will get the correct rendering even if you treat Lightroom 2.x as you would with the same version of Camera Raw 5.x update. So if you use LR 2.5, the treatment would be the same as ACR 5.5.

  • ACR Presets 6.1RC

    Hello

I tend to use a set of presets as starting point for the capture sharpening in ACR (a portrait, a landscape etc.). When I saved these only sharpening box has been checked - so that they affect sharpness and does not change other settings of the cab. However, in ACR6.1 when I apply one of these presets, the sliders on the 'basic' tab i.e. exhibition; brightness etc all return to their default value instead of remaining unchanged. It's annoying because I tend to work from left to right on the tabs.

I tried to recreate one of these presets in ACR6.1 and the effect is all the same.

I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?

(In case it makes any difference, I use ACR6.1 in CS5 on a 32-bit windows Vista system).

    Dave

Yes, he's been spotted... no you do not have need to report it (but thanks to find and to mention).

  • How to remove personally made ACR presets

Hi, I did personal presets and would like to clear most of them.  I can't understand how to do this.

    Can someone please.

Select the preset, and then click the basket at the bottom of the preset Panel.

  • In ACR presets does not not after upgrade

After I updated my ECA to 6.7, my gifts (VSCO and Mastin Lab) does not work on my RAW files.  The error says "selected parameters use 2012 process that is not supported by this version of Camera RAW.  I have to go again to 7.1 to my presets to work?

Yes, this means that you need to update.

CS6 is available as a stand-alone, so you would not go CC if you are not ready to.

  • Apparent bug in the backup of the ACR Presets

I'm experimenting presets for Camera Raw for a new camera and discovered that, when I saved a preset for the detail panel, some values have been omitted. Specifically, the preset has not spared the values of light details, bright contrast and details of colors of noise of the detail panel section. Described below is a "Preset" I saved with dummy values to illustrate this problem. You can see the three values that I mentioned above are absent from the screening. Would someone please try this on their computer to see if it is indeed a bug or if I have something else?

I am using Camera Raw 6.3 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. Version of Photoshop is 12.0.3x64, and the bridge is 4.0.4.2 version. If it is a real bug, perhaps someone who has 6.4RC RTAs could check to see if it is still a problem in this newer version.

Just to be clear: simply check the box [] Version Process causes these parameters will appear in the XML file.  If the [] Version Process is disabled, these parameters are excluded from the XML.

This is DEFINITELY a bug in 6.3!

A programmer related probably include parameters of the process Version in the code that is executed only if the [] Version Process checkbox is checked.

  • I can't find the "Settings" folder to install the ACR presets

I have studied this many. Here are the following steps that I took:

On my hard drive > library > Application Support > Adobe > CameraRaw. So I know I'm supposed to go in the settings folder. But it is not a record of settings. «Just 'Adobe' 'camera' lens profiles "and an inaccessible".» DS_Store '.

Then I tried to 'save settings' on an image in Camera Raw and search on the file name, but I can't. BUT even if I'm in Camera Raw, 'Save settings', I see a Settings folder in CameraRaw > Adobe > Application Support > library. So I know that it is there. Can't seem to locate it in the finder or anything like that. Help, please.

I also did research that there may be some 'Hidden' on Mac files. SO I tried to follow the following instructions to view all folders:ter-3520878 http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/how-show-hidden-files-in-mac-os-x-finder-fun /

And always without success. FROWNY FACE! Thank you in advance if you can save Me!

    Hello

The folder of your choice: Camera Raw is in your library user, not the system.

An easy way to get to your user library is to click on your desktop, then in the menu go to press the option and you should see the words of library. It's your user library where you want to search ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw

Good news.  The problem has been resolved.

Jim Hess has proposed the following:

"I don't have a total solution for you. But in the screenshot you provided, the image you are trying to import is already on the hard drive. What happens if you switch from the copy option to add? I was wondering if that could import one image. We must start somewhere, right?"

Just for info, before I had been using the function 'Copy' or the function "import and convert to DNG.  So I have exactly like Jim suggested and "Added" one image (a NAVE which had been converted to DNG).  By using the function 'Add' not only worked, but now, Lightroom is recognizing the file NAVE of Nikon D810 and import as a champion.  I don't HAVE NO reinstall Lightroom.  Just "Adde" that photo and that seemed to fix everything that was happening.

I don't know about you, but I suspect there was a problem of association with Lightroom who need to restore a path to the catalog somehow.

Thank you for all your help.  I sincerely appreciate it!

  • Photos of GH4 RAW converted with ACR not producing not accurate color

Since I left the GH3 Panasonic for the GH4 I've struggled to get accurate color of my ACR vs Faststone interpretation of GH4 raws.jpg raw photos.  The color looks great in camera and even my free Faststone Image Viewer creates precise JPEGS, but when I open the in ACR look muddy and washed out green, and other colors are simply not accurate.  I tried to create a profile but the inaccuracy of the way it displays them doesn't seem to be compatible, so which works quite well on a single photo is completely wrong for the next.

I have attached a file with the default interpretation of the cab on the left and the thumbnail created in Faststone on the right.  Faststone image is very accurate - vivid green and the feathers on the head and neck of the bird are real, not the red tint that ACR created.  I have tweaked and twisted it and although I can get the Greens right, these feathers will never look right, and I played with each slider in ACR, especially the sliders STL.  Although I don't think that this is the case, some might think that the interpretation of the cab is more attractive, but it is not accurate.

I kept hoping that enough other people have this problem and there will be an update, but that never happened.  Yesterday I was going to try to download an EXIF Editor so that I could see what would happen if I changed the EXIF of GH4 GH3, McAfee, but warned me that he download was dangerous so I stopped there.  Is there a tool in my suite Adobe complete which would allow me to edit the EXIF data?  Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

After some research, it seems that Adobe didn't create profiles of cameras for the GH4, unfortunately...

For me, both of your samples look close enough and I do not think that they would need much tweaking to look almost identical.

Regarding the pieces of color, they work quite well in most conditions. The version of Datacolor creates an XMP preset of the HSL sliders for fine tune hue of each color channel and tone. The version of X-Rite creates a color profile in the ACR camera calibration tab and LR.

Since the release of Datacolor uses the tools of LGV, the files must be in raw format. This means that you can even apply the corrections to the frames of a video.

  • Plugin Adobe for conversion of Aperture Lightroom 5.6 does not work

Past Yosemite, Lightroom 5.6, iMac with 16 GB of memory and tons of disk space.

Try to run the converter. installs fine (on a perpetual license Lightroom 5.6) and begins to run.

All crashes them at 24%. Which is about 9 000 images imported. Stop import and the library contains many images, events etc. so the process seems to have worked up to a point.

Removed from the catalog and ran to new and same result.

Quite annoyed having just purchased Lightroom $5.6 $ and concluded that the first thing I try to do failure.

I'm trying to report this bug to Adobe, but as a new user I find it difficult (impossible to read) to contact their technical support by phone, email or chat, which is what I would have preferred.

    Any help welcome!

BTW I sent your comments and diagnosis using Apple Feedback widget and have published in the blog plug-in my details etc.

    David

Hi - Thanks for the ideas. The Adobe technical support agent took me through a few steps, including permission repair. For good measure, I also rebuilt the aperture library after that these steps have the same kick.

After a week to receive daily updates (sometimes hourly!) to the importer of the Adobe engineers, it looks like they finally found the bug in their code. The last time I was home he had treated more than 80% of the 38 000 images successfully.

    Fingers crossed!

  • Help with a conversion from an ESX 4.0 host ESXi4.1

    Hi all

I'm new to VMware. I was given a task to virtualize infrastructure. I bought 3 dell 610's with 64 GB of ram and an equallogic SAN 6000. I have all three new hosts and the SAN in collaboration with a few virtual machines running in it as it is. I have the advanced VMware license. I also have VMCenter installed and working.

What I need help on is the following:

I have a computer host running ESX 4.0 with a local storage with exchange 2003 and windows 2008 r2 server x 64 running on it. How can I move the two virtual machines to the SAN, and then upgrade to the host ESX to ESXi 4.1?

    Kind regards

    CG

    Hello

As Scott says, you simply add the host in vCenter Server and connect the ESX to the San.  Then you can migrate your VMS (virtual machines must be turned off) from the existing to the new host.

If for some reason you cannot connect the host to the SAN, then you can try with vCenter Converter to do a V2V conversion to migrate your virtual machines.

Finally, there is no way to upgrade from ESX to ESXi, so you need to do a clean install of ESXi on your existing host.

    Best wishes / Saludos

  • Opening files to the ACR with Lightroom

I'm looking for a way to open the JPEG and CR2 files in Adobe Camera Raw from Lightroom.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You cannot, or at least not easily. You want to explain why you want to do this? Remember that the Lightroom Develop module uses the same treatment as ACR engine, so not sure what would have won by being able to open files in ACR directly from Lightroom.
