Help! Question of layer mask and reverse brush colors

For days now, I was unlucky in my quest to find an answer as to why my brushes became out of whack. When I use a brush and paint on the same area, the colors are reversed in this area! Ive set brush settings by default, but the question will not let me be! Layer masks have become another issue. The white rush works but not the black. Opacity and flow is set to 100. Please help because nobody has found an answer.

You can post a screenshot? Looks like your blending mode of the brush is put on the screen and not normal.

  • Help of a layer mask

It has been some time since I used Photoshop and I swear that I do just to create a layer mask and get rid of the excess:

-Having an image on the Web

-Add a layer mask to the image

-Make sure that you have selected on the layer where you want to paint outdoors or in certain areas of the layer mask

Yet somehow, when I do that, it is not fully paint the pieces, I want that she, like most of the image has been deleted, but you can still see the image there.

    What I am doing wrong?

It is attached a document I'm playing with to seize the new concept so you can see how I put it in place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thank very you much for your time.

I tried it and it worked fine. The only thing I can think of that it might be your brush is not set to 100% opacity (it looks like 40%) or as your color to gray. These two things must be apparent, however.

  • Several masks and reversed

I added a mask and it reversed and want to get the same effect on several masks, but when I put all others to just subtract makes black instead of use the effect. What should I do?

    Screenshot for reference:

No need for an adjustment layer. The screenshot is not very clear, but you applied hue and then seven masks but only mask 1 is selected in the effect of the composition.

Here's how to do it correctly. Draw your seven masks. The mode of addition for masks will give you seven circles. Change the mode to subtract and you will have seven holes in your layer. Now apply the tint effect and her centrifuge Compositing options and tap the + 7 times for all seven masks as composition of the layer options. EZ, quick and for this purpose better than an adjustment of the layer.

When you have problems with an effect or a procedure the first thing you can do is to select the layer and press the U key twice to reveal all updated the layer properties. If the solution is not obvious, and then type the name or the effect, or the procedure you use in the field search for help in the upper right of the AE and discover the resources of the community. You will find generally better training than if you just start poking around Google or YouTube. You have your trainers to sift through and make sure that they know enough for you point to the effective techniques and good workflow. About half of the training on YouTube isn't very good and there are a bunch of it that will teach you bad habits and terrible workflows.

Just in case where you're not the explanation here is what should be your model.

  • Layer masks, and vector masks on the same layer

    Hello guys,.

It's maybe a stupid question, but I'm unable to understand this one...

If you make a selection on a layer and click on the button of the mask, you create a mask...

But if you press the button mask once more, Photoshop puts a vector mask to this layer,

right next to the layer mask.

To be honest I couldn't do much thing with this vector mask, I've experimented with it, but I just

cannot know, how it interacts with the layer next to her mask (if there is interaction that is).

Can someone help me understand please?

What is the ease of use to have a vector mask next to a layer mask on the same layer?

An explanation with a paradigm would be nice!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

They both hide the image. One will be based pixel, other vector editable. Here's and example of round soft mask on Mona combined with a mask vector hard sharp (on top a still life by Frida!)

  • I need help creating a layer mask to this jpeg.

I have this image of a layer mask in photoshop 5. I want that white to reveal the black to hide and grey to be semi transparent

When I select all, then copy and paste the image in the layer mask he paste a black rectangle. No matter what I do, it creates the transparent part semi of the mask.

    mask 8.jpg

    Hello, Kim.

    Try this.

    (1) convert the image into grayscale

    (2) harvest as requires it

    (3) find a graphic you want to use the border on and drag it down about the size of the image of the border

    (4) with the two open files select all in the graph on the border

    (5) in the image to receive the crΘer border a new channel, and then in the graph of the border select copy.

    6) paste in place, the chart of the border in the alpha channel, that you just created.

    (7) now ctrl - click on the alpha layer to bring up a selection

    8) go to the layers palette and select the graphics layer of receiver again with the mobile dotted lines on screen.

    9) press the Add layer mask icon

    (10) finally create a layer to contain everything that you want to use as the background, and that's all.

    It should look like this

    Hope that helps

  • Layer masks and blending modes

I read on the layer blending modes in Photoshop CS6: The Missing Manual, p.121.  They talk about setting exposure using the blending modes, and they show how to darken an image by using the following procedure.  (1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value.

My impression is that blending modes change how the pixels on one level interact with the pixels on the next lower level; that is, it implies there are at least two layers of the image.  So I'm not surprised that if I have a single layer without a mask and I change the blending mode from normal to multiply, it is without effect, probably because there is no immediately lower level to allow interaction.  However, if I have a single layer and create a layer mask, then changing the blending mode from normal to multiply darken the image.  That must involve the pixels of the layer are interacting with transparent pixels on the mask.  What?

Can someone explain what is happening in reality not here?

Use layer blending modes, you need to the two layers less.

    As you mentioned above:

'(1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value'

step 2 means create a levels adjustment layer that comes with a default mask if you want to make local adjustments.

in this case, if you have a layer and add an adjustment layer, it works as if you duplicate the layer.

  • Multi-Layer Mask and editing Illustrator CS6.

    Hello

I'm new to learning illustrator and have so far managed to create simple masks. However, I have a multilayer file (World Map) I want to 'cut' a part of and then be able to select and change the various layers within this section. When I create a simple mask I can't select individual layers for editing. I'm at my wits end... Please Release me! In addition, select all the text in a layer and the rotation group?

    Thanks in advance to all!

You must move all the layers in a layer 41

Then put your masking also paths in this layer

If there is more than one mask path, make a path dedicated to the

Click on the layer, and then use the button to create the mask

  • Help with a clipping mask and text!

    shadow.png

    This was really frustrating me.

Design of this logo at the mo - the circle is a form and the L is just type on a separate layer on top with the same color as the background. What I want, it's to make the cut in the circle so that it is essentially transparent, where I can place on any color background and L will mix it naturally without color cast of 'L' evolving.

Any ideas guys? With the help of CS5. I'd appreciate any help.

    Hello

One way is to put your text and circle in a layer set, then together the mix Options: custom to zero fill and Knockout at shallow depth.

The layer that lies directly under the layer group appear throughout the text.

  • Two questions - a clipping mask and color change in the Group

    Hello

I have a file I rendered in Maya as a vector. I'm not that great with illustrator, so I was trying to speed things up...

In any case, it appears all of the files have a clipping mask. If I unrelease, it shows a plain with a similar dimensions that is the original color of the object. See picture for before and after...

In addition, article even says it's in a group. For this reason, I can't seem to change its color, and the separate button is gray... very confusing.

    Jaredlogprob.jpg

To group or ungroup, you must first select the art.

You can do this with a tool of choice or use the layers panel by clicking to the right of the circle of the name of the groups.

Then disassociate will be available but it is not necessary to separate so deit if you double-click on the group with the selection tool black arrow he'll bring you back in the isolation mode of the group which will allow you to change the group, as if they were individual objects that are separating.

When you have finished double click anywhere outside the group to leave the isolation mode. You will find this feature will be preventing them from making bald, because you him tear not all outside whenb group edition in complex projects.

Regarding the change of color as already mention Nedopil > change color > Recolorier Art more or less the same kind of protection mounting which can save you aggravation in the art complex.

  • Collage of texture color to black and white in a layer mask

    Hi all

First time poster long time lurker here.

I'm pasting a layer of color in a layer to texturize mask a shape I've done, I've created. Whenever I have the Option + click on the layer mask and then paste the texture, it sticks in black and white instead of color, see capture below (forgive the watermark) of the screen:

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=wC8Da4V0FAc

Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance!

If I understand correctly, layer masks are black, white or gray. Is that they hide or show parts of the layer according to the value of your gray of the mask. They are not in color.

  • layer masks work does not correctly

    Help

I use the layer mask, and all my settings are correct. The brush still shows the image, even if I'm brushing the image. What is going on?!!!

    Hello

I was able to understand this madness.

If you click color, and then click on the sliders in grayscale. You will see if your black is 100%. Which fixed the problem on my end. thanks for all the advice.

  • Display problem in 16-bit mode of layer mask

With the new version of CC 2015 of Photoshop, I came across a weird problem in layer mask mixture. Here is an example, what it looks like:

layer blending bug - print screen.jpg

I opened a raw file (.dng) from Lightroom (16 bit, ProPhoto), created a black layer mask and began to paint with pure white. As you can see, the transparency model in the background is always visible, even if the density of the mask is 100% and the white brush was normal and opacity and flow were both 100%. The white layer mask doesn't seem to be completely opaque.

But it's more weird. Then, I put two rectangles in the image. This is the checkerboard disappear, but the color of the rectangles has no effect on the image on the top. So the white layer mask is opaque and not fully opaque at the same time!

I then saved the image in jpeg format and the picture looked like it should be there:

    layer blending bug.jpg

Apparently, the question has something to do with rendering on screen, not the content of the actual image. I also noticed, that changing the picture mode to 16 bits to 8 bits makes the disappearance of the problem. But as I also pay for the 16-bit mode, I would use it...

Everyone found this and you are able to reproduce this behavior? Or am I missing some setting somewhere? Can anyone suggest a solution, or should I just wait patiently as the bug fix?

Layer masks and alpha channels are all 8 bits, regardless of the number of image bits.

What you have tried to solve this problem?  Your video card driver is entirely up to the site of the manufacturer of the card?

What operating system do you use?

  • stubborn layer masks

Hello geniuses. I think I accidentally changed something in photoshop (cc) and now I seem to be stuck with vector masks. You can add a layer mask to the other layers of filter, right? If I add a layer of color, I should be able to add a layer mask - I am sure that I did a few weeks ago on another file? But this time I can get a vector mask. The icon at the bottom of my window of layers is the vector and is greyed out from under layers menu top layer mask. I did a quick search on google and it said the Brush tool for layer masks and pen tool for vector masks, but I am certainly on the Brush tool then why doesn't it let me have a layer mask? What Miss me? What else can I try please?

Sorry for the misunderstanding Silkrooster. I know where you are coming-it will only process the instructions proposed then I must say it "deal with this path" somewhere.

    And you were right.

I made you a screengrab but trying to recreate the issue, I think I found the answer. The layer mask option passes to the vector mask if you press and hold down command. I have to have my thumb on this subject - I can't imagine why - habit perhaps? I think that's my answer. Thanks for helping me out.

  • How to create the layer mask using ellipse (circle) to show the face of the watch only?

just stuck - see how to get a job of layer mask using a brush, but can not get by with the help of an ellipse

    What I'm after is:

    * Start simple watch, with the face and band by photo

    * want to apply a layer, so the only thing I see the circular face of the watch (no tape etc.) and that the base is clear (alpha)

May I ask what are the instructions step by step to achieve this goal by using layer masks & ellipse tool?  (i.e. not having to manually paint around the dial)

    Here's the original image:

    1. Make a copy of the background and work on this copy of background layer.
    2. Use the elliptical selection tool, hold down the SHIFT key to draw a circular selection:
    3. Select use (on the menu bar)... Transform the selection to move the selection, and drag the sides of the selection at the edges of the dial:
    4. After you click the green check mark, use the selection... Inverse to select all items except the dial of the watch and press your delete key to remove such things:
    5. Your layers look like this:

Alternatively, if you want to use a mask, after step #3 hit the icon 'Mask' at the bottom of the Palette layers to create a mask layer automatically by using the selection:

  • Have to fill to remove in the layer mask

I do a layer mask and then make a selection of brand and click on delete. Nothing happens. I then fill the area selected and it deletes it. How do I reverse this order?

I don't know there is something simple that I have lack.
