Help WRT54G2

I was unable to access microsoft at home and by reading sites, I discovered, you can change your MTU settings to solve the problem. I changed my MTU to 1500 and that fixed the problem for a few days, but last night it stopped working again so I went back in the 192.168.1.1 page and played with different sizes MTU to try and fix the problem, however affecting the MTU size lowest availible (572) seems to have done something to my router which left him unable to work properly.

I have reset the router to default settings but I can't do a ping servers in the menu of diagnostics of routers. What you can do to understand what caused my router to work properly?

Try unplugging from the wall outlet and disconnect all other cables. Then plug it back in the socket and press and hold reset for 30 seconds button pinhole.

It's the router. She said I have to reconfigure. I tried to look on the site by typing in the 192.168.1.1 thing and the "admin" password is not correct.

My cable modem is Motorola SB5120. My linksys is WRT54G2 V1

Please tell me how to reconfigure this works! We are working on the House and it is a huge obstacle for us not having wireless internet

Hello Mominct! I'm glad that the wired connection works already. This means that the router has been able to get an IP from the modem already. Simply configure the settings wireless for the laptop to work.

    Here's what to do:

    1. open http://192.168.2.1 the router page and use admin for the password.

    2. go in the tab set the Configuration Manual wireless wireless. Change the SSID of "linksys" to any name you want, allow the broadcast of the SSID, then click on save settings.

    3. go to the wireless security sub tab, set the Security Mode WPA-Personal, enter a password (it must be at least 8 characters), then click on save settings. It will then be your password wireless. If you want to leave the unsecured network, simply left off wireless security.

That's all. Hoping for the best!

I connect to the Internet via my router wireless for the last month with no problems. I used the default linksys SSID. I decided to change the SSID to make it unique in my house. I went to 192.168.1.1 and changed my SSID name. As soon as I did my wireless connection is down, not to my surprise. I searched my new SSID name in order to connect and found him. • WRT54G2 help please!

Well, well, I spent most of this morning trying to get my WRT54G2 work in my new apartment, but no matter what I try, I always wrap with what it is impossible to connect to the internet.  My computer recognizes and connects to the router, but nothing beyond.

When I try to fix the problem, I always get the same message on my DNS (I go through for my DNS OpenDNS), and I just don't understand.

Can someone please help me before go me crazy?

(PS - it worked like a charm before moved me, so it is a new problem)

You said you use OpenDNS for your DNS. The IP address OU are getting is one of them.

Where have you configured OpenDNS? On your PC?

I would recommend setting the PC to automatically obtain DNS servers, perform a factory reset on your router, then turn off your modem, the PC and the router, connect the router to the modem and the PC to the router. Turn on the modem, wait a few minutes, turn on the router, wait a few minutes, then turn on the PC.

Your PC should now get IP from your router, as it is the DNS server, and you SHOULD be able to access the internet.

Your router must be able to connect to a cable ISP out of the box, without modification.

Make sure that if you switch between the PC and the router is connected to a cable modem, which you power cycle the modem cable before feeding the next device connected, it recognizes, so the new address MAC to which it is connected.

If this does not work, you may need to contact your ISP to find out if there is anything they have to do if you chnge the device connected to the modem.

Once you're connected to the internet, configure your router to use OpenDNS instead of the ones provided Cox servers. In this way, all the devices on your network that use DHCP to obtain IP/DNS will use OpenDNS (they will display the IP address of your router, but router will make queries DNS of OpenDNS

  • Help: Why the IP addresses change in a multi-router Home Network (Wrt320n, wrt54g2)

I am trying to update my routers and computers at home. Previously, I had a router connected to the internet with a wireless G and an another wireless router connected to the external router with another wireless G network. The external wireless network was used to play games and the internal network has been used for all the other stuff TIVO, access points of impression, computers, etc. The external network had 192.168.1.x ip addresses, and the internal network addresses are 192.9.2.x used routers were linksys wrt54g and wrt54g2. Everything worked.

So I bought a Linksys wrt320n and put in place that the external router. However when the internal router is connected to the external router, the ip addresses of the devices connected to cable networks and wireless to the internal router are numbered 192.168.1.x instead of what I expected (192.9.2.x). This resulting in the Buffalo Access Point and the access HP Points not being seen in the network. In addition, if I disconnect the internal router to the external router, after reboot ip addresses are what I expect.

Of course, technology has changed or I was very lucky. But why are the IP addresses internal changed/performed by the external router? I watched as each private network between them.

Any recommendations? I hope that there is a setting I can change to fix this. Any help is appreciated.

1 192.9.2.0/24 is a subnet public IP, which is owned by Sun Microsystems. It isn't a private IP address subnet available for private use. I recommend you change the subnet to a private inside 192.168 IP subnet. *. *. With the IP subnet, you use currently, you can access these public Sun IP addresses if you need them...

    2. what you write seems to me as if you connect the internal router with an external router LAN port. With your configuration, you must connect the internet port of the router internal to an external router LAN port.

  • Help installation WRT54G2

I recently to plug a new WRT54G2 after the death of my faithful WRT54. I installed my old 54G a few times before, never through the use of the CD (it's unnecessary), so I thought it would be a fairly easy installation. I copied my old router settings (192.168.2.1 etc.) but I was not able to get a connection to the internet. I use a modem RTA1320. Now for the strange part... I was able to connect to "Steam", the game by the WRT54G2 like Skype application. Because of that I thought that the problem could be with a pesky anti-virus or firewall, so I disabled both (including the windows firewall), nothing helps. According to cisco Network Magic program, I am connected to the internet, but I failed to connect with firefox, internet explorer or google chrome (I deleted all browsing history, cookies etc...). I restarted both modem the router again, but I am confused. I'm sure it's a mistake to simple configuration on my part, but it seems very strange that I can connect correctly to steam and to play online with Team Fortress 2 (cannot download good maps) and yet I can not connect to the internet through a wired connection or wireless on a vista desktop and laptop XP computer. Can someone give me a hand? (I'll try to restart again after this post and it will probably work ^-^)

Just as I predicted, I have reset to the default values (something I had not done) and it worked. I myself used reverse physcology.

  • WRT54G2 v1.5 firmware corrupt? help please

Hello, I was starting to have big problems with my router recently, the power light is flashing constanlty, ports of hard wire that I have directv box, xbox and blu - ray drive connected constantly Flash at very high speed and I can not access the router using 192.168.1.1 and I can ping in the command prompt.

I have tried to do a load of firmware via tftp and get no response from the router.

Also, I tried holding down the reset button for 30 seconds, power failure while reset for another 30 years of detention and then plug power back in and continue to hold the reset button for another 30 years and that did not help. (read this suggestion elsewhere on the forum)

Wireless connection not working or the other, but all attempts to access the router via ping and web config have been through the Ethernet to the router.

Anyone know a way to fix this or is the toast of the router?

I never had any problems with it for about 9 months to use it until I'm a new reader, blu - ray (bd-d5300 samsumg). I don't know if it's coincidence or if using this due to corruption, but the router seemed to work very well before using the blu - ray players netflix app.

I met a ton of messages on other sites with the same problem, but impossible to find a solution - can help anyone? I bought a Linksys G, set up using the CD. My wired Office Gets Internet very well, but my Dell laptop wireless find internet, says he has excellent connectivity and then... just abandon the connection. Windows XP on both machines.

Thanks for the fix - in fact, I found a solution on another thread that worked - clone the address MAC and who did it, not more left falling Internet. I have no idea WHY it worked... lol... but I'm just happy, she did it!

  • Help! Unable to access WRT54G2 V1 router!

Single user PC running XP Pro and installed Avast and ZoneAlram... went through the configuration of the router... but when I come to step 4 plug power cord to an electrical outlet, gives me the error I think 332... cannot access router.

Tried to access router through IE 8 address: 192.168.1.1 - Web page cannot be display.  Tried cmd and don't run 192.168.1.1 no change... it is same when I disable ZoneAlarm and Avast... even tried to download firmware Linksys by their technical support... message... Cannot access the router?

Tech said you have a router faulty, even when I tried to ping it... so got another... still no change... so what can I do next?  All I want to do is have a secure connection!

    All of the suggestions!

Normally, no response from ping, I guess your router is dead, but it seems really more a problem of computer software firewall.

Avast is not a firewall in there?  Also, you can use two software firewalls at the same time.  Please uninstall Zone Alarm or Avast.  In addition, make sure that the Windows Firewall is disabled.  If you still have problems, try the following:

To view the web pages of the router:

You don't need an Internet connection. 'web Pages' of the router are integrated into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is connected to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily disable your firewall software.

Point your browser to 192.168.1.1, and then connect to your router. Your username must be left blank. Your password is "admin" (without the quotes), unless you changed it.

For Zone Alarm, do a right-click on the ZA icon in the taskbar (bottom right of screen) then click on "Shutdown ZoneAlarm" and see if that solves your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: open the control center ZAISS, go to privacy, then temporarily disable Ad Blocking and Cookie Control and see if it solves your problem.

Some Zone Alarm users reported that the addition of 192.168.1.1 to their address list "of trust" solved the problem. This trick can also work with other firewalls.

If you can not get anything to 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not the address of the router. Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key. Look at the "default gateway". It is 192.168.1.1? Point your browser to the 'default gateway', can connect you to your router.

If the above fails, unplug your modem router, then try again. If it solves your problem, then you probably a "modem-router" rather than a regular modem. A report with this problem and also specify the brand and exact model of your modem (not router) number.

If all above fails them, turn off your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait a minute, then lights up, then try again.

If all the above tips fail, then reset the default router: power down the router and unplug all the wires. Wait a minute. Switch on the router, let it fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset for 30 seconds button, then release the button and allow the router to reset and restart (2-3 minutes). Turn off the router. Wait a minute. To connect to a computer, cable, a router's LAN port. Initialize the system. It should work.

If you still have problems, then you must download and install (or reinstall) the latest firmware for your router. After the update of the firmware, you must reset the default router, and then configure the router again from scratch. If you have saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • no error message Internet with linksys wrt54g2 v1 router

    Hello

I connected my linksys wrt54g2 v1 connect to the LAN router and the WiFi worked perfectly well. Two days there was a problem with the connection to the local network and finally he solved. Now when I connect my router wireless to the LAN, the ssid is listed and when I connect to the WI - FI connection, see an error message saying "no internet access. Could someone help me solve this problem?

Note: I have reset the router and changed the necessary configurations, but it still does not work.

    Thank you!

Hi varun_umesh. It is obvious that the router is no longer communicates with the modem. Try to power cycle first two devices. Once the power supply light is good on the modem and the router, check again if the internet works on your devices. If not, these links will be able to help you to reconfigure the router.

  • Two cameras, but only we work at the same time, need help

I have exceeded the posts here, but not found answers to my type of problem.  I have two WVC54GCAs both have static IP on my local network addresses and I can see them both very well from there.

I forwarded the port for one to 47624 and the other in 47625 in my router at home and in the configuration of the camera, I specified to use these other ports instead of the default port 80.  When I work and try to view them on the internet by their ip address and port # (e.g. http://22.22.22.222:47624), I get a time-out error, but I see one if I go to 22.22.22.222:80 port (even if the port that I specified in the configuration of the camera was another port).  I used dyndns open port testing tool (http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html) that shows 47624 and 47625 are both open ok.

I can connect to my router on the work 22.22.22.222:8080 and the router logs show the dyndns tool connected to the router via these ports after the test.  I was using a Netgear router and thought that might be the problem, so went out and I have a router Linksys wRT54G2 to see if it worked better, but have the same problem with the Netgear.  Here's the weird part, if I go into the router to work and change one of the cameras to pass to port 80 instead of the other port I would fix for it, I can see that the camera on port 80 despite the camera config always configured to use another port.  So when I remove the first camera port 80 in my router and change the other to port 80, I can see the other as good as this.  I have Comcast as my ISP and a Motorola SB5100 cable modem and can't understand why I'm able to raise over the internet using the spare port settings I specified.  I have spent a lot of time on this, I'd appreciate any help or other suggestions on how to make.

As far as I know, all Comcast modems are just bridges... no firewall in them at all... The other possibility is that your IT Department at work blocking traffic... have you tried this in any other place outside your local network?
