Hide layer in .ai 18.1.0 preview thumbnails?

I can't hide the layer preview thumbnails in illustrator 18.1.0 more (in layerpanel options). Since it slows down things en masse, I'd be happy to have a workaround solution. Does anyone know?

Kind regards

Patrick

Looks like a bug to me.

  • Is it too late to change the preview thumbnails, once the beforeSave event?

    My goal:

    I need to display nonprinting layers in the preview thumbnails of my .indd files. We produce print jobs that will post processing applied to them (thermography and cutouts glued on the printed cardstock). Our .indd files have layers containing images of these post production so that we can determine the alignment and spacing for the final product.

    Here are the graphics are placed in the nonprinting layers so that they do not print. However, InDesign generates the preview thumbnails that do not contain these nonprinting images. It is a problem for us because we can't tell the difference nuanced between soley by their similar indd files preview images.

    My goal is to register somehow these nonprinting layers in the image preview thumbnail.

    What I've done so far:

    I have a startup script which records for the beforeSave and afterSave events. Before that the same it marks all layers not printable are printable (printable property = true). AfterSave event then this cancels by defining these layers to unprintable. I followed what layer was initially not printable adding a moniker the layer name.

    What does not work:

    When I run a script which marks the layers as printable records, then cancels printable changes everything works perfectly. The thumbnail preview is exactly what I want.

    However, when I run as a startup for events script beforeSave/afterSave. this fails:

    • Success: The beforeSave correctly updates the print property, then changes the name of the layer. This is as expected and work well.
    • Success: the afterSave properly resets the property printable and changed the name of the layer. This is as expected and work well.
    • Failed: Thumbnail preview of the file reflects not the printable = real peroperty of affected layers.

    My Question:

    From what I saw above it seems that the preview image is determined before the beforeSave event fires.

    Question 1: Is it true?

    Question 2: How can I assign printable layers properties whenever there is a backup?

    Last resort I could intercept any sequence of keys CTRL + S or the file-> Save menu option and call my original script (as described above). I would avoid this because it is fragile and less elegant.

    Follow the question: can anyone show me what is real workflows for these events? For example what InDesign is then his backup work and at what points it fires events beforeSave and afterSave?

    Follow-up:

    I think I solved the problem. Wow, Adobe, you could do better than that.

    My solution is during the event "beforeSave", create a new textframe object. Fill it with text empty of meaning. Position somewhere predominently on the first page where it will be visible. Then remove the textframe.

    This is apparently enough to ID to render the thumbnail overview. So my entire solution:

    • In a beforeSave event

      • change my "unprintable" layers to print.
      • Then, create textframe, add text, place it in the middle of the page, and then remove it
    • AfterSave event
      • change diapers updated back to "unprintable".

    As stupid and hacky because it seems to me, it seems to work on ID CS6 for Windows.

  • How can I do a quick preview (thumbnails?) of all open tabs in a window (Safari has a function for the display of open tabs)?

    How can I do a quick preview (thumbnails?) of all open tabs in a window (Safari has a function for the display of open tabs)?

    Maybe look into this extension instead:

  • Preview thumbnails on the page empty new tab only for some URLS

    When I open a new tab, there are three some preview thumbnails that are always empty, and there is no way I can make them appear again. They didn't work at first, but at some point the three extracts disappeared and never returned.
    I have already tried to empy cache and recharge sites as suggested here, but the thumbs are still empty. It's always the same three URLS where this happens. I have also erased from history, to open new sites and drag items in the history menu in a thumbnail - the same result.

    You can open the Web Console (Web Developer > Web Console;) CTRL + SHIFT + K) and click on the entrance to the home page (index) to inspect the response headers.

    You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh all files.

    • Hold SHIFT and click reload.
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Cmd + Shift + R' (MAC)

  • Aero Peek, Aero preview thumbnails do not disappear

    Titles are always difficult, especially in this case.

    The icons on the taskbar - when I hover over them, they pop up displaying the list of windows related to this icon.

    Well, after that installation of Windows since long several updates, the list of "pop-up" doesn't go away when I stop hovering over him.

    It's driving me crazy. I need actually to click on something in the list that appears before he goes. If I accidentally go over it while moving the cursor, then he overcome everything that I do until I get out of my way to select an item in the list. The list does not disappear when I click on a window, when I click on an item in the list.

    To look into this further, I think that this only happens when I have enough windows open, but it could be that some windows that cause it to happen. I use these programs for a long time however, and they have never caused-for most things like Sublime text and Visual Studio 2013 Communityand a game or two. I'm sure this is a result of the update of Windows.

    George,

    The term you want, it's Aero Peek [people often refer to it as Aero Preview as well].

    I think that you will have more good users write down your question if you are using the question title - Aero Peek, Aero preview thumbnails do not disappear [just click on the link change under your question and it allows you to change the title].

    Additional: You mentioned the updates, I think you should check for any updates for your display driver, as it seems a likely candidate for such a problem of display.

  • Taskbar preview thumbnails is possible remains on permanently in Windows 7?

    I have several application I need to continuously monitor, and I want to do while working on other points. It would be very useful if I could make the previews thumbnails in the taskbar to stay on all the time instead of having to hover over them to see.

    Is it possible to make them on all the time thanks to a setting?

    Hello

    Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you want the thumbnails to stay permanently under Windows 7.

    In fact, this feature is not included in Windows to preview the thumbnails at all times. However, you can use favorite search engine and check for any third party software where that can be done.

  • Photo not displayed in preview thumbnails on Windows 8

    Dear team,

    I need help on the mentioned theme. I use Windows 8 and Windows Explorer does not display thumbnail previews for images like what I used to have in Windows 7.
    I check the Folder Options and make sure that the "always show icons, never thumbnails" option is not selected. I have also check via the System Properties and make sure that 'show thumbnails instead of icons' is enabled. However, I still couldn't preview thumbnails for images.
    Is there a solution for this problem? Or is there some Windows updates that go to my Windows 8 in order to make it work?
    Please advise.
    Thank you and have a nice day.
    Kind regards
    Andrew Khor

    I tried all the recommendations found here and could not solve the problem. I thought something I installed so I sort my apps install / update date and found that I had just updated to version Java 8. I uninstalled it and Wah - lah! I have my thumb nails back! I hope this helps someone!

    If I could buy you a drink through the internet, I would. Thank you.

  • With LR 3.4 my previews/thumbnails look like negative images

    I have LR 3.4 and my previews/thumbnails are not correct. They resemble negative images.

    I got LR 3.2 and everything was fine before the upgrade.

    I tried to uninstall LR 3.4, removing the previews, deletion of the catalogue and resinstalling. I get the same problem if when I import images. When the previews are built, they look like negatives.

    If I reinstall LR 3.2 all right.

    Any ideas?

  • PSD layer disappears during rendering, OK RAM Preview

    Hi, I have never used an image psd Photoshop CS6 AE, but yesterday, I did, thinking that I could edit easier... it is a still image (non3D) an alpha channel.  I hung out in the draft.  The layer has a few expressions of intense rotation if it matters. I can work on it fine, he plays using the RAM Preview and I can save a part of it as a Save RAM Preview, which is also very good.  But when I returned to a video file, the object disappears full... I just get a black screen.  Any thoughts?  Also, being a relative newbie, if there is a way to slot a TIFF file or something in this layer without losing all my work, please let me know how to do the same.  Thank you!

    Did you put the layer as a guide layer?

  • Hide layer in AS3

    Hello

    I want to know how to hide a particular layer during a mouse click event.

    Thank you

    Ankur

    -Is it possible to hide a layer for a particular action?

    N ° you can put them all in a movieclip or you can give them all as instance names:

    layer1_mc1, layer1_button1 etc... and iterate...

  • example JavaScript to show/hide layer of BCG in Acrobat DC

    I saw this question a couple of times but not enough answers, so I'll ask a little more precisely.

    I have a listbox with three different option (option 1 is 'Blue', is a 'Green' option 2 and option 3 is "Yellow")

    There are 3 matching layers named BlueLayer, GreenLayer and YellowLayer.

    When 'Blue' is selected in the drop-down list, I would like BlueLayer to show (but not GreenLayer or YellowLayer).

    When 'Green' is selected in the drop-down list, I wish GreenLayer show (but not BlueLayer or YellowLayer).

    When 'Yellow' is selected in the drop-down list, I want to show YellowLayer (but not BlueLayer or GreenLayer).

    My theory is that if I select the box that says commit selected value immediately, I should be able to run a javascript script on the MouseUp command allowing the correct corresponding layer to show.

    Could someone show me an example of what this javascript would look like or suggest a better way to do it?

    I know that Radio buttons are another option, but in the end, I prefer a list because of the design of the form box.

    BTW, I'm new to using javascript in Adobe Acrobat so if I'm completely off base with my way of thinking, please point me in the right direction.  Thank you in advance!

    First, you must use the Validate or Format, not MouseUp events. I prefer to use the old.

    Here's how I'd do:

    var layers = this.getOCGs(0); // let's say the layers are only on the first page of the file.
    for (var i in layers) {
        if (layers[i].name=="BlueLayer")
            layers[i].state = (event.value=="Blue");
        else if (layers[i].name=="YellowLayer")
            layers[i].state = (event.value=="Yellow");
        else if (layers[i].name=="GreenLayer")
            layers[i].state = (event.value=="Green");
    }

    If the layers appear on multiple pages, and then you add another loop around the code, to go through all the pages, but the basic concept is the same.

  • How to disable windows 7 home to hide the thumbs.db by keeping the 'Preview' you?

    I made a few changes reg who don't did not help me. I don't want my system clogged with unnecessary inches. Please tell me the secret in doing this, in windows 7 home. don't see theres no gpedit in the House, I can't understand it. Thanks in advance

    As you have indicated, Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) is the necessary tool to disable the cache of thumbnails, which is enabled by default. Unfortunately, group policy exists only in the professional and higher editions (Enterprise and Ultimate).

    Saying that, it is not dark as gpedit is not present - use Disk Cleanup (click Start and then type cleanmgr.exe) to remove the thumbnail caches accumulated over time, which is an approach recommended, even if you have access to gpedit.

    Note that it is not recommended to disable the thumbnail cache; When you navigate without thumbnail cached image files it would take long to list the files which, otherwise, would read tiny thumbnails of thumbs.db - a "tiny" file Indeed, thumbs.db accelerates image file listing when the miniature display is active.

    General indications: miniature leave cached as it is, but use disk cleanup from time to time.

    Incidentally, you can select almost all the "Delete files" on disk cleanup, but, if you have a Microsoft Office application installed, better avoid deleting the installation of office files , unless you are 100% sure what you are doing.

  • Question is - can anyone make a guess as to why a feature of Style appears in the layer panel and appears in the preview, but does not print?

    Rich

    It may be that the race is too small to be noticeable on large print media.

    • What is the weight of the race?
    • What is your PPI image?
    • What is your size of the image - height & width?
    • What is your print size?
