• dimension of the hierarchical attribute with Essbase Studio

  I need to load the product dimension that is organized in a parent-child relational table like this:
  (parent_code, member_code, member_alias, mark, consolidation, formula)
  
  Each product has a mark and I need to load brand as a dimension of the attribute. The thing is the brand isn't flat, but it has its own hierarchy. For the brand, I have another relational table, where the data are organized parent-child like this:
  (brand_parent, brand_child, brand_alias).
  
  I do this load with Essbase Studio but I know is not how to create the Product hierarchy in the cube schema in order to load the parent-child hierarchical attributes. Documentation and tutorials only show examples of dishes attributes. I thought of these two ways, but do not know if will work:

  Is it possible to update my substitution variables according to the date of the operating system? I try to avoid some of the manual processes involved in maintaining the application. I'm looking for solutions from Hyperion.

  It's not a way to do this within the Hyperion, but it's pretty simple to write an external process (korn or bash for Unix, bat or vba for windows) to read the date system, then appropirately set a with a call from shell maxl subvar.

• Table of security question-user not updated with Essbase as ApplicationAccessType

  Our users are facing some problem during access Essbase applications and Web analysis reports. I checked through the cancellation of the supply through the security settings for user once more to have a fix. But I could not succeed :-(.
  
  Here, the user is configured for Essbase and planning applications, but on the security table EAS - security - user, his showning just "Planning", even if the user is provisioned for both Essbase and planning applications.
  
  Inside 'the user properties', I am able to view access to Essbase applications according to the desired configuration.
  
  Can you please let me know if this is a known problem and help me solve this.

  It is also possible through Maxl - ESSBASE & PLANNING TYPE SETTING USER
  Although you should be able to do it in Shared Services, reallly you need to try with an administrator account.

  It sounds pretty common after restart of planning/EAS you need to physically log in all planning applications, if you don't when you go in HBR you will not be able to access planning applications.
  It is probably resolved itself as someone probably connected to the planning application.

• Error codes Interface Essbase/VBA

  Hi all

  I'm trying to get a worksheet updated with Essbase data using VBA/Esssbase interface but I am struck by the problems - HypCreateConnection returns an error code of-15 and I can't find a list anywhere error codes. If anyone could tell me where to find such a list, I would be very grateful indeed.

  they are all listed (containing little useful information) in the smartview.bas file while constants declared, -15 is parameter not valid.

• Sort of hierarchies of alternatives in exports

  We have various hierarchies replacing in Essbase managed by DRM. The problem is that when push us other hierarchies of DRM for Tables using exports DRM, the order in which they will sit in the tables is not the same as the order that is in DRM. The best way to maintain this order? We watched Sort_Order but y at - it another way?

  Hi Ted,

  Exports, tab "Column" is category specific called exporting property which will include the "Registration Id" column in your export.

  Once the data in the table, you can run a 'Order By' based on this area and get what you want.

  Fatal error: the security file was created in blend mode, but the current environment is not blending mode... Restart Essbase using the last backup file, or set the ENABLESWITCHTOBACKUPFILE config to allow Essbase automatically uses a backup security file

  We have updated the essbase.cfg and define the TRUE ENABLESWITCHTOBACKUPFILE but that didn't work.

  Also, we have renamed the file essbase.sec in essbase_bak.sec and restarted the service. still no luck.

  Essbase Server is now running

  The latest adapters released for SUN (Power Center 8.1.1 SP3) were 11.1.1.1 but I believe that they still work with 11.1.2.2, you probably also updated the essbase client as well as the latest version on the SUN server.
  Should also be worth to ODI if possible like SUN is really a dead product with Oracle.

• Member of the parent Department deleted RDI in the schedule but still given in Essbase

  Our workforce cube is built by planning 11.1.1.3. Our parent user Department deleted RDI in planning and it is supposed to update to Essbase. Somehow, cube Essbase continue to contain data related to RDI. So is this a bug of planning? In my view, that essbase clears always data RDI if RDI is deleted.
  
  When we use maxl export Wrkforce cube, we get a file with these documents:

  The funniest is that Member 'RDI' has been removed from our Wrkforce cube.

  The Member is still in the outline? If the update did not through.
  Have you tried to rerun the update and checking the logs, omitting only if the Member is removed from the planning, manually deleted the Member of the essbase.

• Possible to rewrite data from Excel in the input source?

  Hey people,

  is it possible to rewrite the data in the original OLAP cube using the of SmartView for MS Excel add-in?

  Let's say I make what follows after you import a cube to my spreadsheet Excel through SmartView:

  • Add data sets
  • remove groups of data
  • Add columns
  • remove columns
  • change the columns (properties)

  Can I click on a save/submit button after that and my changes will be written back in the cube?

  hierarchical update is what I assume you want to say by updating the properties or add new columns.  If the new columns are combinations of Member you want to add then which would add to the sketch.  As Dan says, it is not possible in Essbase.  There is a way to do planning, but that is something you should read the Administrator's Guide.

  I am getting error below:

  ERROR - 1003007 - Data Value [0] Encountered Before All Dimensions Selected, [1] Records Completed. ERROR - 1241101 - Unexpected Essbase error 1003007. 

  Please suggest

  Check the State of charge. If there are all the dimensions in your database not specified in the load of data file, make sure that you specify in the header.

  Possible solutions

  Make sure that the data source is valid.

  Is a member of every dimension specified in the data source or rules file properly?

  The field of digital data is at the end of the recording? If this isn't the case, move the digital data field in the data source or move the field of digital data in the rules file.

  Members that can contain numbers (e.g. "100") surrounded quotes in the data source?

  If you use a header, is the header properly configured? Don't forget that you can add the names of missing dimension to the header.

  The data source contains extra spaces or tabs?

  The hierarchical update was saved?
