Highlighted text available fixed epub from InDesign CC

I create a fixed layout with InDesign CC epub book. I made my first page and open in ibooks and found that it won't let me highlight the text. I can highlight text in a fluid layout, but not in this new fixed layout.  Any advice on how to get my text of provision fixed to be highlightable? Being able to highlight is a large part of my project.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry guys... Here I had seen this before. I could have told you that highlight and note-taking capabilities are disabled intentionally fixed layout EPUB and Kindle KF8 books.

The only time where you will see a FXL book that does support highlighted is if is B & N or Amazon "Perfect Page" or "replica" - format which is basically just a PDF packed of all kinds that can be read via Kindle and Nook apps (other College book apps like kno.com and the old support Page Replica CourseSmart Too much. CourseSmart has recently merged with VitalSource, however, so I don't know what they are doing these days WRT replicas of page). iBooks does not support any kind of reply to print the page. It's the EPUB 3 FXL or author only for Apple iBooks.

  • Export EPUB from InDesign CC not including line breaks

    I'm done with a book and it were formatted as I want. I'm exporting to EPUB with InDesign CC and image displayed in preview in iBooks and also through Kindle previewer. Everything is great except for one thing... where I created the page breaks, the exported file includes them.

    I tried to export as HTML just to see what he's done and there's no line breaks. I know its owner markup (in kindle) but I still want to include them in some specific places (to mark the separation of the chapters).

    In kindle, it's the tag they say to use: < mbp:pagebreak / >

    In iBooks, I've yet to find how to create, I'll work on that today once I have set the kindle version.

    Y at - it no way to force if it includes the breeze to the export line. Or otherwise, I could export to HTML but I can't find how to bring back in the EPUB format from there and also it did not include the fonts, so he had other issues to consider as I have a custom font that I used for the headers that looks really good and matches the font on the cover of the book as well... so I really want to keep that consistent if possible.

    Are there tricks or things I can try here to improve my workflow and do a better job of separating the chapters?

    You need to mark the paragraph style, you use for chapters in the paragraph Style Options/Export marking/Split (only EPUB) Document.

  • Fixed someone having problems generating a file format epub from InDesign file?

    Hello

    I use a Mac OS 10.9.5 version and CC Adobe InDesign 10.1.0.71

    I have an InDesign file that I used it to generate a fixed format EPUB. Generally, it was working fine and I was just fixing some strange pieces of type (followed and horizontal scaling seemed to be throwing) and optimize the images to get the best size of file.

    However, with the last update of Indesign, does not seem the same file to generate the Epub files that are the least bit similar to my InDesign files! The text flows everywhere and this is another font, characters run into each other, text boxes are ignored etc.

    I took an old file on my archives, just to make sure that this is nothing that I did. However this file too generates properly - it must be that something caused by the update InDesign last right?

    The document is in small chapters but in its entirety, it's 300 pages, so I really need your help to find out why it works now - I can't just quickly re-make. I have a few pictures, we show the crazy formatting (which is supposed to be of fixed format) the other shows how it looks in InDesign.

    If anyone can help that would be really appreciated!

    Thank you

    Joe

    I couldn't come up with something that might help. If I find a way I will let you know. Maybe others here may give it a shot.

    Edit: I finally could get just with a few changes. Get rid of the character applied to Text Styles (use None). Use the paragraph Styles rather changing universal Adobe paragraph composer Adobe paragraph composer. I think that the application of character to the whole text styles was the main problem. Also when you export the general/Options choose Convert across the landscape Page. Make a copy of your file and make your changes and see if it improves. This is what it looks like on iBooks.

  • Text cut when converting to EPUB from InDesign

    Hello

    The text of a paragraph style is being reduced by half when the file is exported to EPUB of CS6.  The problem happens through more than an e-reader.  We tried to solve the problem by changing the CSS, but it removed the police in an e-reader, and no changes made in another.

    Is there a way that this problem can be corrected in InDesign, maybe some change the paragraph style?

    Thank you!

    Understand the problem - there was just one problem with the spacing of the lines of this paragraph style.

  • No matter who was able to create an index in a provision fixed product ePub from inDesign CC 2014?

    inDesign exports currently my clue in "CO2" as a regular number:

    Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 9.04.12 AM.png

    I tried a few tweaks to the code but have not been able to do things. I targeted the number "2" in "CO2" in the code and could change the size, but it seems no matter what I do I either end up with an exhibitor or number disappears completely. I tried a few negative percentages and the value of the property "sub" to move it to the bottom, but I can't get this right.

    span. {CharOverride-7

    Color: #000000;

    Police-family: Alegreya, serif;

    make-style: normal;

    Police-weight: normal;

    vertical-align: bottom;

    font size: 100px;

    }

    Here is the result of this last piece of code in my ePub.

    Does anyone know how to get a clue?

    Hello

    Have you applied exposing through the Panel control or character of the fly out menu? I ask this because if you specified via the open type parameters, then it is not honored.

  • I can't get my layout stick available fixed epub when exporting

    I'm a complete newbie to inDesign and I have a problem background incredibly.  I am trying to create a fixed layout epub document that is mainly a collection of pictures with text on top.

    Two layers in the document.  Images sit on the bottom layer.  Text is on the top layer.  And all the text frames have ignore selected text wrapping.  The problem is when I export to epub fixed provision, none of the layout is still in place.  It's as if I chose recomposable (which I certainly do not have).

    To be sure that it wasn't an application specific, I looked at the resulting file in a variety of different epub spectators and they look all wrong.

    I'm sure I'm missing something extremely simple, but for the life of me, I can't understand that.  Help?

    Thank you.

  • How to add audio available fixed epub

    Hello

    I would like to know if the addition of audio to a fixed provision epub is possible or expected for InDesign? Specifically for reading aloud books - with each word highlighted. I know it can be done with a painfully manual process in the HTML code. However, it would be swell if it could be done in slightly less atrociously slow InDesign?

    I read the book of pariah Burke on the addition of read aloud audio, but now with the new feature of fixed page layout it's expired. Other sources of info on does anyone know?

    Sue Campbell

    The ID on s are in the update just came out yesterday.

    When I was leading the EPUB team, I would have said that it was extremely unlikely to support SMIL for InDesign workflow.

    External tools are needed to map IDS to audio clips (that is what makes the SMIL file) and then everything must get packed to the top.

    ID could do all the packaging, of course, but he can't make the SMIL file and up to what ID do export you don't know what the ID will be.

    So I've always suspected that it would still be a post processing step that will need to occur entirely subordinate to export and therefore nothing for InDesign to participate in.

    I found this book very helpful in learning about the workflow SMIL - http://iampariah.com/books/creating-fixed-layout-ebooks - but of course, the remains (released in 2013) is obsolete because we will export the FXL of InDesign. There are obviously other sources to talk about how to do so.

    I hope this helps.

  • Merging two files epub from indesign

    Hey,.

    I'm trying to merge two files epub. The other file has dropdownmenu for my book, and the other has the text of the book. In the menu, I go to different sections of the text file.

    When I try to use the command to move the pages, he moves pages but it creates ipad alternative layout and as much as I know, I can't use order if the pages are in the alternative layout. What I'm missing here?

    Thank you

    You can remove the mark of the article which defines the beginning of the alternative layout.

    Go in your Pages panel and look for a small triangle on top a page. That indicates a start of section.

    Select the triangle and you can delete the beginning of the section by calling the context menu.

    Since my inDesign German:

    'Section löschen' => 'delete article '.
    (Do not be afraid. This does not alter the pages in the section, just the beginning of the section. )

    Hope that helps,

    Uwe

  • EPUB from InDesign - Video Playback prob IOS8

    Hello, I was pulling my hair out for days on this issue.  I have an ePub to training which includes videos in there.  The epub 3.0 version, I did layout works great on an iPad with IOS 8, though, with the player not locked to video, but with the release of InDesign, video will play only if iBooks is in scroll mode.   I made a small screenshot vid of the issue and would really like to know if it's a question of Adobe, an IOS 8 / iBooks issue.  Possibility to incorporate fonts in InDesign is a nice addition, but, the man that video thing drives me crazy.  See case here EpubInDesign - YouTube

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tony,.

    Thanks for that raise! You're right, it is iOS8 specific question. We try to find a workaround and to solve this problem at our end, although it comes to iBooks (iOS8).

  • How to create an epub from InDesign CC file that allows the correct appearance of the shalmaneser on NookColor?

    I checked preserve local overrides and include embeddable fonts. I use regular Balaram as a font.

    When I create an epub, the Indo-Aryan language (bitter) appear fine, but on my NookColor the indic characters are substituted.

    This may be a matter for the communities of support Nook, but I thought I'd try here.

    Thank you

    I think that Nook does not support encrypted fonts. You're work of fonts included of course for you on Nook?

  • Hyperlinks not exporting only not in ePub fixed provision for InDesign CC 2014

    I have a magazine created by InDesign with links to various external websites.

    When I export to PDF, hyperlinks work very well. But when I export to ePub fixed provision, none of the hyperlinks (site or electronic mail) works. It's as if they were regular text, not something you can click. Here are the links that are created in the hyperlinks Panel.

    I don't see anything in the screen Options that it would affect... at least nothing I recognize. Unless some sort of file Javascript needs to make hyperlinks to work.

    I'm looking at the resultant ePub in iBooks on my Mac and iPad and get the same results.

    Am I missing something easy here?

    I think that several hyperlinks are not yet supported in EPUB 3 fixed provision.

    See this document on changes to EPUB from InDesign CC 9.2 with InDesign CC 2014:

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/InDesign/InDesign_EPUB_Changes_CC_9.2_to_10.0.p df

    On page 21 the current limits of the EPUB 3 available are fixed. Don't forget it's version 1 of EPUB 3 fixed provision, and this will probably change in future upgrades:

    Hyperlink text are not currently supported.

    Hyperlinks on PageItems are supported only on the Images and only for the destinations of the URL.

    Note: Hyperlinks to a Page or anchor text are not supported at this time.

  • Please help with a layout fixed epub!

    I have the latest version of InDesign. I have a 420-page book with text and photos, exposed in InDesign. I watched the videos of all Anne-Marie Concepcion on Lynda.com. When I try to export my InDesign document available fixed epub (do every thing that anne-Marie said to do), the epub comes out like a big nasty huge letters... overlapping jumble few by page. I've tried everything. I tried with different documents. I created other InDesign documents to use as a test for epub documents. I get the same results: Massive letters, overlapping so you can't read them. I tried and tried and tried. Why won't it work? I'm a user of InDesign and have for years. Help, please!

    Bob, I feel so stupid. I don't know why I didn't know this! I was with Digital Editions 2.0. I downloaded 4.0, and it works! It works! Thank you very much. I am very happy that I asked... and very pleased that you responded.

  • text crushed in epub

    Hello

    I export my book of InDesign CC 2014 available fixed epub, but some of the text gets squashed together (or spaces seem to be left out)
    I removed the substitutions and tried different fonts without result. Any ideas?

    Check it in iBooks or Readium for Chrome. If it works there, it's the player application you use.

    I would like to make my comic by epub 3.0 available fixed version with InDesign CC.

    horizontal display is fine and beautiful.

    BUT he did not turn vertically on my ipad and iphone.

    How can I unlock my file of available fixed 3.0 on my iphone and ipad epub?

    EPUB does not work like that. EPUB fixed layout is fixed.

    You consider Digital Publishing Suite or similar apps for an iPad. This is not.

    And, since the DPS is now pretty much limited to organizations that are publications and users of the company, you can create is no longer a single DPS Edition to publish it, unless you have an expensive subscription. Sorry!

  • Need help with italics for the ePub and InDesign CS5

    Can anyone one help out me. I can't find the answer to this and I know it must be simple, I just lack.

    I create an ePub from InDesign CS5. All I want to do is have the italics that are displayed in the text box in InDesign, see the in the epub file.

    I prefer not to say what I did (I think I've tried everything, but obviously I got them all wrong, so no point listing them) and I hope that someone can make a simple guide, step by step how to make italics appear in the ePub file.

    Sorry if this question is under everyone, it's really annoying that I can't figure this on my own.

    Yes unfortunately sometimes does. ID is really a ship in order to get the content in epub format.

    You must go through your CSS for every job.

    Addition of

    serif; or without serifs; After each occorence a police.

    also, most in CS5 importanley make sure you have font name in the top of the CSS file "" round then, otherwise it appears correctly in the Adobe Digital Editions software, actually to check the rest of the code in this a well for example:

    {@font-face}
    Police-family: Minion Pro;
    make-style: normal;
    make-weight: normal;
    SRC:URL("fonts/MinionPro-regular.OTF");
    }

    I really only the minimum required in ID and do the rest in dreamweaver
