text crushed in epub

Hello

I export my book of InDesign CC 2014 available fixed epub, but some of the text gets squashed together (or spaces seem to be left out)
I removed the substitutions and tried different fonts without result. Any ideas?

  • Highlighted text available fixed epub from InDesign CC

I create a fixed layout with InDesign CC epub book. I made my first page and open in ibooks and found that it won't let me highlight the text. I can highlight text in a fluid layout, but not in this new fixed layout.  Any advice on how to get my text of provision fixed to be highlightable? Being able to highlight is a large part of my project.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry guys... Here I had seen this before. I could have told you that highlight and note-taking capabilities are disabled intentionally fixed layout EPUB and Kindle KF8 books.

The only time where you will see a FXL book that does support highlighted is if is B & N or Amazon "Perfect Page" or "replica" - format which is basically just a PDF packed of all kinds that can be read via Kindle and Nook apps (other College book apps like kno.com and the old support Page Replica CourseSmart Too much. CourseSmart has recently merged with VitalSource, however, so I don't know what they are doing these days WRT replicas of page). iBooks does not support any kind of reply to print the page. It's the EPUB 3 FXL or author only for Apple iBooks.

  • Problem the photographs in an epub file export

    Hello!

I am creating an ebook of photographic work that has just one photo per page. I use InDesign CC and there I have my image placed in the center of a page of the ipad in size with a small margin around the edge. However, when I export a view on an ipad as an epub, the image appears much smaller and in the corner of the screen of my ipad, not where I wanted to. How can I stop this from happening?

    Hi Kate,.

This problem of image cut occurs when the size of the image exceeds the maximum size that can support the readers. For example, for iBooks is 600 x 800 pixels; If the image size is going to cut.

    You can try these alternatives:

1 specify the size of the image as relating to the conduct of text in the EPUB export dialog box options and then export.

    OR

    2. reduce the size of the image in InDesign so that there are 600 x 600 px.

Let me know if the problem is solved or not.

    Kind regards

  • Compare InDesign ePub file

I have a book of 500 pages in InDesign, and I created an ePub out of it. Is there a way I can compare the text of the EPUB with the original InDesign file, as you can compare documents in Word format to see what the differences are. This way I could easily track down the obvious errors in the EPUB, as a missing phrase, which would contribute to the proofreading of the EPUB. If InDesign doesn't have this feature perpaps anyone know about plugin or a third party that could provide this.

I would check both out in the form of plain text and do a diff from the command line, but I am old that way. If you've never cracked open an epub and looked at his insides, now is a good time! It's html and css in there. If the data format is radically different to IDML or InDesign. So what you ask for is not trivial at all.

Are you worried about the artifacts of the process of conversion, or human error? If human error, I would say check plain text on both and comparing with your favorite Document comparison tool of choice.

  • Small caps ePub issue

I'm working on placing the text in the ePub format and continue to operate in the same question.

I want the title of the chapter to use small caps.  In InDesign, I have it look exactly the way I wish that it - '' Chapter One '' appearing with small capitals.

I highlighted the expression '' Chapter One '' and applied a paragraph style that has the following characteristics:

[no paragraph style] next [style]-Times New Roman-size: 24pt + needlepoint

When I export to ePub to display the document in Adobe Digital Editions these changes are not present.  I have tried about everything the application of styles of characters and nested styles, but nothing works.  I want these appearances of small cap to work in versions ePub as well.

Any thoughts on why it doesn't work?

Any help is very appreciated.  Scouring the internet for some time didn't turn upward all the advice.

    Thanks in advance.

Easy workaround solution. Map of H1 style and define H1 with small capitals in the CSS.

But... I recalled that ADE is old enough and desperately needing an update. I would check the EPUB using something else. Even a web browser can be better.

  • CS6 renfilez / reconnection story that I have not threaded - reference problem

This started as a reference problem. My notes are not always numbered consecutively. I searched the forum and found many complaints about the notes. I think that my problem is that the CS6 begins renumbering of notes if it detects a new "history". I voluntarily started my chapter 28 pages with a full story. However, somewhere along the line, the thread of the story broke. I did a lot of formatting with graphics and images before noticing the notes were again starting with the number 1. I want to join the pieces of the story. How can I do?

  • Logical naming Auto for the ID of graphic objects

Can someone tell me what logic is used for the naming of JPG/PNG images generated for boxes drawn in InDesign, line, ovals, groups, etc.?

In other words, if you draw a circle in InDesign, this anchor text, exit as EPUB recomposable, unzip the EPUB and look in the oebps\image folder, you will see an image named something like 2022.jpg. I'm trying to determine the logic behind this name, I need to reuse these images for anything else.

Well, Keith, I'm going to make a trade with you - I'll tell you how we do it, and tell me what you're trying to do with this information.

The name comes from the unique object identifier (we call it a UID) of the object is rasterized. Because each object has a unique UID we are guaranteed that we will not have a file name conflict.

I would like to warn you do not depend on that, even if this is still true even in the next update, because it was suggested that it would be more useful for developers who are trying to understand what was going on where to name things according to their number of source page (more the UID). If that will really happen go ahead I have no control on it, unfortunately.

  • I crushed the text when I export a photo to epub book. Why?

So, I have a book of images, all nice and laid out for CreateSpace. I create PDFs for createspace all the time, they are all very well, this is no different. But now I'm doing an epub version.

I exported to epub, for a fixed layout, it is beautiful, except for a few words on each page are all shrivelled in... as the letters on a word in a paragraph are all stacked on each other.

I'm a just teach myself this program, so I probably set something wrong in my original file, I guess. Then, treat me as stupid, and Please oh please someone help me through this? I use InDesign CC. Don't know what other information you need to know.

Thank you thank you thank you for any help at all!

  • How can I convert PDF files to text EPUB?

I want to files ePub simple, legible, without excess of formatting and especially bad formatting such as erratic font size changes, additional line breaks, etc. I want to be able to sideload these of my ebook reader and check these without eye strain.

I can copy the text from the pdf document and if necessary filter in Textedit, although I have rsi and want to avoid too many extra steps.

iBooks author is supposed to be for multitouch. I am disabled and cannot use the multitouch. I installed it anyway, but it is heavy on the custom formatting, when I don't want any layout format further, just plain text, paragraph breaks, chapter breaks and a functional table of contents.

I do not use iBooks himself, because I had trouble with this passage from the titles, etc. from one file to another, making it more difficult to find the right file of the wrong title.

Have you done a google search on "convert pdf to epub?  Have you tried all the solutions mentioned?

Because the PDF is not really intended to be transformed into something else, the results of these processes are often poor.  What is the purpose of your doing this - to allow you to change the police and the font size?  Calibre is a common conversion application.  See

  • Good tutorial for export from InDesign to ePub, to create correctly formatted as text in iBook?

    HI -.

I'm pretty much a beginner to learn to use InDesign. I thought to start with a simple project to a Microsoft Word document, plain text, well formatted and lets learn how to make an iBook.

However, even if the text is nice in my InDesign document, when I export to ePub and then open in iBooks, all text formatting is lost.

Where can I learn about the export of my InDesign document with formatting intact?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Images with text on the same page in epub seem to be changing color to the export profile

I create a fixed provision epub heavy photo and I noticed that after exporting, pictures with text on the same page are exported with a totally different and much more saturated look to them.  As if they were exported under a different color profile.

All pages that include no text but just includes a graphic/photo, the image appears normal in the preview.  I tried several things like manually set two different images to specific color profiles.  I changed the conversion to ensure that everything is export in jpg format.  Cannot quite understand how to solve this problem.

    Has anyone experience this problem?

He solved.  The problem was caused by blocks of text that had their transparency set to 0%.  Removing those, the problem has been resolved.

  • With Center-justification text not maintained on export EPUB (REFLOW).

    Hi all

I have some difficulty getting export EPUB (Reflowable) to keep the center justification in my layouts. I enclose some screenshots so you can see what is happening. In InDesign, I use the style of text with no manual override:

    Screen Shot 2015-12-19 at 6.14.00 PM.png

But when I saw the book (it doesn't matter what justification Center I use, I get this:)

    Screen Shot 2015-12-19 at 6.14.49 PM.png

Is there something I'm missing or not to see? A recent design, I made exactly the same way was not a problem. Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks to Derek and Ellis,

I'm not sure if the style is inherited (where I would check that?) but the center alignment did not help anything, unfortunately.

I ended up getting into Sigil and editing the CSS, which had indeed been exported as 'justify' and put into service with the 'Center '... Since I have to go in Sigil anyway for the images, I'll have to accept that as being the only difficulty at the moment.

  • Publish text not readable in epub export, fine online

I use Hypatia light in a document. When I publish online it looks fine, no problem at all.

But when I export the same file to epub (fixed format) I can't read the text in Readium or on my Ipad?

    Any suggestions

    Jim

Are you talking about the OpenType police called Hypatia Sans Light?

I just did a test of 12 pt Hypatia Sans Light as a display fixed provision (Mac) iBooks EPUB and Adobe Digital Editions, and it seems fine:

Here it is using the feature to publish online, presented in preview in Safari:

  • Text cut when converting to EPUB from InDesign

    Hello

The text of a paragraph style is being reduced by half when the file is exported to EPUB of CS6.  The problem happens through more than an e-reader.  We tried to solve the problem by changing the CSS, but it removed the police in an e-reader, and no changes made in another.

Is there a way that this problem can be corrected in InDesign, maybe some change the paragraph style?

    Thank you!

Understand the problem - there was just one problem with the spacing of the lines of this paragraph style.

  • Put page fixed ePub export text questions.

Hello, I am new to the layout fixed ePub. When I export my project, I get something like this:

    12.png

Changes in font size, I looked for troubleshooting, but nothing so far.

When I export to pdf or epub reflow, the text looks fine, however, on my project, I need to be a fixed provision.

    Thanks in advance

Hey there, Ellis, thank you for your response, however, it wasn't the problem. I have ADE 4.0.

The real problem was that my indesign has not been updated, it has exported perfectly after the update. Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue.
