  After TWO YEARS, someone should be able to give us a step by step, to "reconnect" an external, USB hard drive!  I unplugged and then plugged it, several times, without success.  I seem to have this problem with one of my disks USB, a Toshiba.  Access the drive through files Explorerer, seems to work, even if it is "disconnected". Historical files only has problems. Strange! Could it be the drive itself, or it is plugged in to the USB port?

  NOTE:

  -make a backup copy of the files you delete first! (just in case)

  -J' had deleted my old historical records from the files on the ext. HDD, so I lost no data. I can't guarantee that the ancient history of the file will be there if you remove the configuration files, as described below. In my opinion, it shouldn't happen, but since I have not tried, I can't guarantee that.

  After checking my disk for drive errors (none) and update the drivers (not not mandatory), I went to this location of records:

  C:\Users\your user folder\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration

  and remove the four files that were on it. Because they determine the configuration of the file history, when I ran the service once again, I could set up my drive as if it had never been used before. I started historic files, and it lets me choose my hard drive and run the backup as it should.

  For some reason, it seems to be interference between certain Lenovo W500 Driver/software and Office 2010 that breaks Outlook 2010:

  1 / I installed a new copy of Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit, no driver installed Lenovo (IE only the provided Windows drivers) - there are devices that are not yet recognized, but I don't who has not yet set

  2 / I install a new copy of Office 2010 Professional Plus 32 bit, which includes Outlook 2010

  3 / once I start Outlook to join my Exchange Server and my messages start to flow-well

  4 / I then go into file/Options and then make several settings and save by clicking OK - so so good fa

  5 / can I update the system using the Lenovo update tool (update of the ThninkVantage system) and adding all the updates (not those in option)

  6 / Once finished, after the obligatory reboot, I launch Outlook again

  7 / I repeat step 4 above - a message box appears read "the file does not exist"; at this point, only the button cancel from the dialog box Options can dismiss the Options dialog box.

  7bis / as in step 7, but just open Options and immediately, click OK (IE do not any change in the Options) leads to the same error "the file does not exist.

  8 / restore the system to a restore point just before applying updates from Lenovo brings the system back to normal, IE as in step 4 above.

  Any ideas of what might be broken Outlook?

  Well I finally resolved the issue - for some reason, as the "Sound reminder" field on the Advanced tab was empty. I put it to the mail notification sound electronic normal windows, and then the dialog box options was happy.

  On the complement of research, it is effectively disabled. Don't know why but will survey.

  I have my old laptop computer hard drive connected to my new. I want to import my favorites but can not find the file because it is hidden. When I try to access the file options and click on 'See the hidden files', apply, then OK, the folder appdata still does not show. When I return to the folder options, the button "View hidden files" is unchecked. I tried to make hidden files visible on the new laptop & the old drive hard but can't seem to understand.

  Also, when I enter E:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (change user & the drive letter), result is found.

  I really need these bookmarks, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  If so, try these 2 methods...

  1. start > Panel > programs and features > column to the left, click enable features or disable > (wait for it to load) > scroll to find Windows Search > check the box in front > OK when finished.

  Recently, in order to clean my history of file by removing everything except the version the most recent, I discovered that several thousands of files have been deleted. I don't know why this happened, but I will definitely not use this method the next time (I usually clean versions 6 months or more).  In any case, I decided to start by deleting the file from the file history completely re - running.  The total size of the libraries being backed up is of approximately of 110 GB.  After running it for several hours it is finally finished, or so I thought.  When I tried to restore the files to check, it keeps giving me the "you will not be able to access your files until it is completed, this can take some time."  Historical files stopped backing up-so I guess it's done.  It says "run now" instead of "stop".  When I check the properties of the folder size does not match the size of the libraries it's backing up - so it's not like he has saved everything - but I can't seem to run more-it goes from "stop" to "run now" almost immediately.  Libraries it's backup most of the music files are, but there are some program files, and the user, also being backed up file.  Historical files recognizes the drive.  I disabled my antivirus and I had no errors while safeguarding libraries.

  What you were doing was to occupy the office with the files.  Right-click on the Start button and select Explorer.  Then in Explorer navigate to the office on the left in the list of folders.  Then to the right, go to view | Details and you should see then the entire list of files on the desktop and you can prune from there.
