How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7?
How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7? I have Windows Vista Partition, I case these files through my Windows 7 partition without logging in there?
Thank you
You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7. It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here. You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).
The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.
Good luck!

How can I change the file association in Windows XP
All my WORD documents and such are automatically saved in a WORDPAD document, how can I stop that?
While the file associations in windows do not address how a file should be opened,
It does not address how a file should be saved.
the method of saving in a program is controlled by this program.
Therefore, if you use word 2003, then you must change to save documents rtf to word documents.
try clicking on Word Tools Menu then Options file.
then under the tab backup, do not forget to select the right format for saving your documents, IE Word documents (* .docs).

How to: retrieve files incorporated in a Vista Easy Transfer Wizard USB key
Original title: How can I recover the files embedded in a Vista Easy Transfer Wizard USB key
I was trying to use the restore function (integrated in drive D) HP system on a laptop computer to restore the image to that at the time of delivery. I had used Windows Easy Transfer Service to place all the files of the user on a USB key. I'd just take the default value (I thought) selection which included files on the D drive. Now, after the restoration of the image, I can't get the file transfer function works as it crashes when you try to replace D. I need to recover the files to user directories in the old C drive, but I don't see an option anywhere in the process, to do this. Surely a way, I can tell it to ignore the files on drive D.
Help!

Hello
Thanks for joining us on the Microsoft Community.
According to the description of the problem you are facing problems with reinstalling Windows XP Professional, and you are to be invited to insert the Service Pack 1 drive to complete the installation.
To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:
1. did you uninstall Windows XP Service Pack 1 prior to reinstalling Windows XP?
2. what was the installed Service Pack earlier?
You may need to uninstall Windows XP Service Pack 1 first and then perform the reinstallation of Windows XP and to check if the installation goes smoothly.
Please see the following articles for more information about uninstalling Windows XP Service Pack 1:

WSUS - in a Windows 8 how know the source of updates, Windows Update or WSUS Web site.

My C drive was blue screens so that I couldn't get into my computer and it became useless. I'm a total computer not so smart person, (politically correct too) :) In any case, after finding how to get in safe mode and fishing around a solution, I got the solution from scratch. It was April, which should give you an idea how well informed, I am when it comes to such things.
So I took the option that would save all user files before reinstaling the operating system which is original bought the 2008 version. Vista 32-bit. Yes I know it's old but it works again. So since then I tried to get it updated and secure. Gateway won't help me at all, of course, out of warranty and all. So I downloaded the service Pack 1 and 2 for vista and all the security updates and Microsoft security essentials and IE9. So now I'm finally back to normal, which I think is a relative term.
So now, I want to find all the files of the user who have been registered by windows before the reinstall took place. My folders and files from my sister. Treatment of text and pictures and stuff.
Once I found how to make their return to where I am and where it is?
You are welcome.
Unfortunately, you have not yet told how you have saved the files.
If you used the Auromatic backup gateway, they say that the files are in the C:\Backup folder on the hard drive.
You will need to open that folder and either copy and paste or drag and drop them where you want them to be.
It's a question you'd have to ask Gateway:
http://support.gateway.com/support/ask_gateway.aspx
.
If you sustained yourself using Vista DVD files or an external hard drive, is how do to the files from the point upwards.

How to recover files deleted from windows Vista Sp2?
I lost a bunch of files system - a few apps. do not work correctly under Vista. I is not a disk recovery and would like to preserve as much as possible with the existing settings. I have Sp1 and Sp2 and installation disks. However when I try to reinstall, the answer is that they are already installed and the re - install fails. Under Xp, it was easy to do to repair a corrupted installation.

try a system restore before you did

If necessary do in safe mode
Windows Vista
Using the F8 method:
- Restart your computer.
- When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
- Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
- Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
and try this
also run the sfc/scannow command.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

Cannot use the files copied from Windows 8/7/Vista in windows XP.
Always there are people who use Windows Xp, the problem is that when I copy the files in my USB and use it in my friends house, then Windows XP said 'pen drive not formatted ".
Always there are people who use Windows Xp, the problem is that when I copy the files in my USB and use it in my friends house, then Windows XP said 'pen drive not formatted ".
How is the "pen drive" formatted - with what the specific OS file system?
This is more likely to be a file system - do not operating system (although related, not as much as you might think)-problem. Another possibility is a problem hardware or bad driver on the machine Windows XP itself. It could also be, although rare, an incompatible 'USB key '.
What is the 'pen drive' is formatted with the file system is essentially - the first question to ask. Then - if I were you - I everything on the 'pen drive' copy on a computer which can be read - if committed to the machine more common denominator (in this case the Windows XP machine) you will use and FORMAT this 'pen drive' using this machine. One of the few possible things will happen no doubt...(1) you'll find you format it with a version of NTFS that will work in all areas - all the machines that you can use with Windows XP or more on them. Then this problem will disappear.
(2) you will find there * is * something wrong with the Windows XP specific in question and this machine is not a problem easily solved this and your "pen drive" probably will work on someone elses machine Windows XP very well as it existed before.
(3) you will end up with a FAT32 formatted "pen drive" that should work on most any system - as long as you don't need to transfer * really * large individual files.

How can I view a list of the files on my windows 7 Home premium desktop
I want display files and folders, that I saved in the office but when I click on Start/computer, I am unable to see a folder called desktop. What can I do?
Open windows Explorer, under Favorites, click "desktop", then adjust the display how you want it, that is to say 'list '.
If you want the files as a text list, press [shift] and right-click on your desktop. Click on "Open a window of order here", in the command prompt, enter ' dir *. * > Filename.txt "(sans les guillemets) and press"Enter"." A text file called filename.txt should appear on your desktop, open it to your list of text.
Use ' dir/h' to see other options.
