• Robo HTML 9 won't open our Source code control project after initial startup.

  We have a project under version control that we use for ever, since 2003 or more and for many versions of HR.  Now that we have upgraded to 9, this project will open the first time under version control and operate normally.  Once you close the project, and the attempt to reopen the start screen, it opens just great, but not in version control.  The files are always set to read-only.  I made this several times and the only way I can work on my project under version control is to act as I open a project from scratch, then overwrite my files the with the files from the server.  It wouldn't be so bad but I'm 3000 miles the server and 13 hops over a slow firewall on the other end.  While this was never a problem in the past, it's a big problem because it takes hours for all files to download and overwrite my files the.

  This only happens with RH9 and Version 3.1 control.  RH8 works without problem.  So, I don't know if it's a starter RH9 problem or a problem of Source control.  Maybe I'll make a similar thread HR.  I'll wait to see if I receive useful tours of it first.

  It's very strange, I RH9 open for several days because I was afraid to close the project for this reason and yesterday I published for the month so heat is less now but today it has opened with no source code control.  If I go to control code Source, the only thing I can choose is updates to the source code control project.  That's how he got into source control after conversion in RH9.

  We have another project that seems to open normally control version, but we can only save in HTML topics.  No responses to this topic after a week.

  OK, here's a weird one, I used add it to version control icon in the menu bar, he already knew the path so I thought I'm the only person who was edit these files for the last few days so I clicked on add to version control.  He added. I closed and reopeded and still the same files were checked.  Closed, checked in the whole, and then reopened and he works at SourceControl.  Strange that after opening of source control and closing to reopen and tell him to put the project into source control.  Obviously some indicator is not is defined somewhere.  It might help other people having problems opening source control files.

  I use HR 11 and Visual Studio source code control.

  I need to take an archived version of my HR project and open it to the changes that are not in the current project.

  When I unpack my archive, it automatically links to the source code control and downloads the latest version of the project.

  It supersedes the current source code control project and even change the mapping of the source control path must match the project archives.

  So what I need to be able to do, is open my archives project without source code control interface. Is there a file I can edit linking the project to source code control? I can't even open the project in HR because it distracts the mapping of source control.

  Uncheck all of the actionscript files that are not actually classes, but rather an external import in one class (your MXML).

  Also, for the record, it is common to use lowercase letters for files includes actionscript and no real class. Camel case file names should be reserved for the class files...

• How do you define an external display of HTML source code?

  I want to stop using FireFox built in HTML source code viewer and use an external viewer. Tools | Options provides no way to do this. Poking around the subject: config doesn't reveal anything either.

  Surely this question has been asked and answered a million times already, but when I try to look for it on the web page of Mozilla support I earn millions of hits of garbage on PDF files - and I can't find a way to do an advanced search that excludes the word "PDF". Even the obvious assumption to put "-pdf" in the search field does not work. Even more mind-boggling: If you search for "advanced search mozilla support" comes only garbage - nothing on how to do an advanced search.

• How better to describe Flex?

  Hi, I work in a multitude of technologies side Server (including PHP and ASP.NET), as well as many other clients, including Javascript, Flash, and Silverlight. I'm curious to know what Flex is for me, and how can I benefit from on this umpteenth learning technology?

  So what described Flex better:

  1. a framework for Javascript client side (like ExtJs, etc), which can be used to build browser-based or desktop-based applications
     
  2. a based as plug-in Flash another frame animation
  3. a component on the server side

  Feel free to add the right answer if I've not listed above?

  My instincts & a few basic reasearch tell me the first person to be the best description. In this case, why should I really learn Flex? We already have significant frameworks for the browser in JavaScript/Flash & Falsh as a stand-alone platform for desktop PC. What Flex offers more?

  I would really appreciate some subjective responses. Any link listing all the features of Flex together would be great.

  Flex is the best way to build applications Flash from my point of view.

  The Rapid Application Development (RAD) feature, it is really "fast" to make applications.

  Flex applications are portable on pretty much any browser and major opperating system.

  You can also create native desktop applications using Flex by air. It is also possible from Flash or Dreamweaver for example, but none are as close to reality as Flex. AIR buit in Flex Apps are native applications, for example on windows, you install by selecting path and a few other options as well and that you remove the Control Panel - Add/Remove programs.

  Well, to answer your question topic, Flex Builder is not necessary to change the code MXML or ActionScript that make up a Flex Application.

  You can use Notepad - or any editor of text and re - compile against the SDK command line.  There are also alternatives, FDT comes to mind as one.  There are also a few plugins for Visual Studio.

  None of this solves your real concern.  As far as I know, there are no tools in CS3 [or 4] which will give you a 'Designer-style' access to a Flex Builder project.

  It looks like you want Flash Catalyst; However, it is still in beta and has limited support of the architecture of the Flex 3 components.

  I found out what I did wrong... here my answers to my questions to share with potential imitators ;)

  To change a html envelope that is created and updated Flex Builder, it is important to change the html-template/index.template.html, and not the index.html file located in the root of the project folder, since this will be replaced whenever a generation occurs.

  Flash vars in the html code should appear in the html section and in the JavaScript section, which will be used by default in the browser. To find the right place in the JS, just search for 'flashvars' and add the parameters to the values of this key.

  We have a large project that we need to create an automatic version. We have several different packages who have classes using the Embed metatag to include resources from an active file. We don't have any errors during the construction of our library with FlexBuilder3 Flex project, but when we build using compc it fails with an "unable to solve [file] for transcoding. If you copy our current folder to the folder where our class then the error disappears. It seems the the FlexBuilder resolves the path from the root of the project while compc he decides the location of the class. Y at - it an explanation for this contradiction?

  SVN is not a source control package?

  I'm not sure, but RoboHelp * MAY * be able to integrate with SVN to control projects and sharing.

  RoboHelp comes with RoboSource Control that could be used to provide the source code control. But if you already have a package in place, my thought is why reinvent the wheel? Simply use what is there.
