How can I add SSD as boot on new ALX disc

New ALX - adds nothing. You want to boot from the SSD and make the HARD drive to store backup data.

Did a recovery through Respawn USB.

Installed Samsung 1 TB SSD HD alternative with Icy Dock adapter dock.

Run Samsung magician - everything looks good. SSD appears as a separate drive.

Impossible to get Samsung Data Migration to work. In any case, I'm worried about because it will wipe the HARD drive and, for the moment, I can't change the order of boot anyway.

The SSD is listed in the BIOS under the BOOT of LEGACY: position as P1 (the disc is P0). However, the SSD does not appear under the UEFI BOOT: topic - only HARD drive. This is all very confusing. Tried to start of list of the HERITAGE (HDD and SSD), but it wouldn't boot - had to go back to the UEFI boot.

1. How can I load Windows 7 (via recovery USB!) on the SSD?

2. How can I get the SSD to appear in the list of boot UEFI

Any help will be graciously submitted

I'm sure that's how it works...

Use any Dell or Alienware preinstalled to create a recovery USB drive.

Disconnect and remove drive spinning (this is your fail-safe backup) and put it somewhere safe.

Install the SSD in Bay-0.

Insert the recovery USB disk

Press F12, the machine turns on and do a one time boot from the USB key.

Dell recovery allows to write the load of software factory for the disc of starting or C: (what is now the SSD).

Once completed, the machine should start from the SSD.
