How can I change my settings to honor CMYK profiles?

I'm not an Illustrator/vector guy, I'm a motion graphic designer who needs to create an animation of a customers logo. The client sent a .ai to their logo and when I open it I get the following message:

"Your current settings color throw CMYK profiles in content related but profiles were created to be honored when this document was created."

My question is how can I change my color settings so that they do not dispose of the CMYK profiles when I open the files have? I don't find this in settings. I don't want other customers logos are converted to RGB when I opened the

See Edit > color settings (see attached screenshot for the dialog that is displayed). The default seems to be what you have defined. It sounds like something different to made on the end of the customer.

Are you planning on this animation in After Effects or Premiere? If the first, it will not even import CMYK files, After Effects will be, but your colors will be wrong. You must definitely convert to RGB with Edit > edit colors > convert to RGB before importing the work elsewhere.
